Guest guest
Did you contact your broker who should have helped you with this problem? Kathy Trouble with ports I recieved my QXCI on 7-6-2005. Since that time I have spent countless hours on the phone and in numerous computer stores. Because the new lap tops do not have a parrellel port which my QXCI box requires. I have purchased 3 different usb docking stations 2 didn't light up the box and the other one the lights never went off. I have had extreme difficulty locating a port replicator or a PCMCIA. I am told that new laptops will no longer have the parralle port as they are being phased out starting in Jan 2005. So I'ts not like I can buy another new computer. Has anybody had this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it. .............................................
Guest guest
I had this problem... As far as I know, it's unfixable. I had to revert to an older computer with a parallel port. le On Wed, 20 Jul 2005 22:06:44 -0000, harkeyahh wrote > I recieved my QXCI on 7-6-2005. Guest guest
Good Morning, Have you tried a standard 25 pin to USB cable instead of the docking stations? We are about to trial one here in Australia from Lindy Computer Connection Technology. www.lindy.com Simply select the country you require, then do a product search for product codes 42857 (25 pin to USB cable) and 70074 (25 pin female / female gender changer). From the discussions I have had with the company, they are confident that it will work but as I say we have not tried it here as yet. Hope this helps. Kind Regards Trouble with ports I recieved my QXCI on 7-6-2005. Since that time I have spent countless hours on the phone and in numerous computer stores. Guest guest
I'm not having that problem with my QXCI but with my SCIO. It works fine on all my older computers, but not my new Compaq 6000. It seems I'm the only person having this problem, and they can't figure it out. I think it's a combination of the software, and the computer. I also, couldn't get the serial to USB to work. I purchased three different brands, and it none of them worked. So, something is going on with the hardware, but none one seems to think so. I either have a rotten computer, or a box that will not work on a new computer. ??? I've tried this on a laptop and a desktop, both will not work USB to serial with the SCIO box WITHOUT crashing the computer. Wish I had some suggestions. At this point, I'm sending back my computer. Guest guest
you either have a new scio with a usb to usb connection and no external power source to the new style SCIO or you have an earlier SCIO powered by an ac/dc converter which also requires a usb to serial connector plus a driver which is in effect a software EMULATOR of hardware function. If the latter is the case it is most likely your new computer is not compatable with the software emulator trying to make your computer emulate a serial port through its usb bios drivers. My best guess, Barry at QWC
