Guest guest
, It's great to have you here. I hope you have looked around the site and found articles and information that are helpful. You will also see pictures in our photos section so you can actually see what some of us look like. Don't let the surgery pictures scare you though. Maybe you should wait until you are home from the hospital? You are just days away from the beginning of a new adventure in your life. It's a very special one too. The cochlear implant is a miracle to most who have it. You will notice that there are a lot of people here who will love to share their experiences with you so if you have questions - just ask away. Guest guest
Hi Welcome to ...Glad to see more guys getting onto the list. Congratulations on your upcoming implant. While there is always some risk in any surgery, you will find that it is not as difficult and uncomfortable as it sounds. I have been through it 3 times and may be looking at a 4th (long story-see the archives)...except for one time, I was out and about within a couple days of the surgery. Granted I looked like some desert sheik for a while with the turban bandage, but I was able to function and work within 2 days of surgery in both cases. As for results of the implant, well it varies with the individual, and to a large extent how hard you work at hearing with it. I had great success for 14 years and while having problems with the newest one, expect to have great success again. Do stay with us and share your experience, ask questions and be active... you will benefit greatly... You should be up and around in plenty of time to come to the meeting Nov 16th, We'd love to meet you and share our experiences. God bless http://christiankidshows.org http://professorhoo-dini.com
Guest guest
, I suspect there very well may be interference between the implant and the QX head harness as far as qx therapy goes. I do not have any direct experience here and perhaps some one out there in qx land does, but I would suggest placing the head harness somewhere else on the torso during therapy. (the abdomen or an area where pain relief is most indicated.) The qx energy is very gentle and extremely unlikely to affect the ear implant, has your mom been warned against using cell phones with the implant? Given the strength of the cell phone versus the qx, I would suspect the phone would be a much greater risk of damage, being so much more powerful. If the implant is safe with cell phones it most certainaly safe with the qx, but the qx therapy may be affected, so move the head harness. Guest guest
Thanks Barry, for your input. It's good to remember that cell phones receive and radiate EMF's. I don't know if she has been warned not to use a cell phone, but I will certainly ask. blessings, victoria RE: cochlear implant , I suspect there very well may be interference between the implant and the QX head harness as far as qx therapy goes.
