I am very sorry to hear of your loss. but glad that she had a pretty crystal

with her to remind her of you in her last days. I love amethyst as well. if it's

ion a bracelet, ring or necklace then the stone doesn't have to touch the skin?

what is the name of someof your books, this is very interesting.

Well, it is coming up to my bed-time but I don't want to keep you in

suspense!

Many years ago I bought my mother a beautiful amethyst ring. I know

that amethyst isn't that expensive - not like diamonds and rubies -

but it was in such a beautiful setting and was held in place by

about six 'claws'. My mother must have worn that ring for something

like 25 years. Over the years my sister and I noticed that the stone

was slowly losing its colour. I have read since that this can

happen when its in the sunlight too often, but I have a very

different idea about it now.

My dear mother was in hospital at one point and she insisted on

keeping her ring on as she felt it was very special to her. One day

when we visited her, we noticed that the amethyst (which was by now

totally clear and colourless)had started to lift up from its setting

and had broken three of the 'claws' in doing so. Only one side had

lifted up so you can imagine it was at a very tilted angle. We both

thought this was very odd and tried to push it back into its

setting. We both tried several times with all our might but to no

avail. It seemed as though it was just trying to get out. I

suggested to my sister (who was used to my 'funny' ideas by then)

that maybe it knew it had used up all its power and decided it was

time to be replaced. She looked at me kinda funny and we left it at

that. As a matter of interest, my mother had breast cancer twice

during her life but survived each time and I now believe it was this

that used up the power in the stone. I could be wrong of course!

A few days later, my sister found herself at one of these holistic

fairs and saw an amethyst bracelet on one of the stalls there - the

kind just on elastic - and decided to buy it for Mum - just in case

I might be right! When I saw her at the hospital again, she

produced the bracelet and put it on Mum's wrist. To our surprise,

by the time we left the hospital, the amethyst stone in the ring had

settled back down again quite happily. Now I've seen some spooky

things in my life but this one quite spooked me out. It really must

have been that all its power had been used up - and it was as though

the stone had a mind of its own - but who's to know it hasn't!

The second amethyst story was very recent and brings sad memories to

me. My best friend, Peta, had been rushed into hospital and she was

in a coma for 7 days. I was devastated but, knowing the power of

the amethyst,I promptly got her an amethyst bracelet to wear. She

was out of the coma by the time she got to wear it but wear it she

did and told me she'd never take it off, which she didn't. I live

about 150 miles away from Peta so getting to see her regularly was

very difficult.

I was later to discover that she had cancer of the bowel but her

doctor assured her that they could fix it. I looked up 'amethyst'

in my crystal book to make sure I'd given her the right one but

noticed that cancer wasn't on its list for cures (even though I

believed it had helped my mother) so I then delved into the book

again to find a more relevant crystal I could get for her. When I

spoke to her on the telephone next she asked me to send her more

amethyst and when I told her that it wasn't really the right one and

that I'd send her something else, she said 'Oh yes it is - its

absolutely the right one'. I had a big natural chunk at home and I

wrapped it up with a letter to post to her the next day. Peta died

before I could get to the post office. Days later, I was reading my

crystal book again and discovered that amethyst is the crystal to

use to help someone through their death. Somehow she must have

known this.

Well, that's all from me folks - my eyes are almost shut!

Kind regards

Hi Stuck

No, it doesn't have to touch your skin. Both the stones in my

necklace and bracelet are silver-mounted and the stone doesn't touch

at all. There are many stores in the UK (but don't know where you

are) that sell gemstones. You can also get them at these spiritual

type fairs. Otherwise they are easy to buy on the internet and eBay

usually have many gemstones for sale, including Moonstone. Good

luck - dry eyes are the pits!

and I hate taking these stupid drops. but wondering if I could wear

it as a ring instead of a necklace since I already wear my kid

charms and it wouldn't look right together? where would I get one?
