Wireless cafes, motel rooms

What exactly is happening when a cafe or motel room says it has high speed

internet access? If no computer is in use, what is emitting from the rooms,

walls?

Do you, em sensitive folks have discomfort in these places?

I am going on a trip, staying in a motel for a week, and wondering about wired

rooms.

Also, wondering about any other precautions for flying and airports.
