Guest guest
Hi All, I'm new to this forum, just found it....looking for comments/suggestions/ideas/???? Anyway, I am a 62 year-old female, retired, very good basic health. However, I " fight " my weight. Currently I am 12 pounds over my ideal - - Maybe not a lot but, if not addressed now, will become more ... and I can't fit many of my clothes! I follow low-carb eating, recently got looking into glycemic index and added back some carbs (which were very much missed!) -- haven't eaten processed sugar for perhaps 10 years, rarely eat white flour (except the amount added to whole grain breads). I exercise regularly, am almost never sick, but have a few " aches and pains " , sebhorrea dermatitis (pretty much kept under control, and digestive problems (I've started on probiotics and digestive enzymes -- has made a world of difference!). I also use EFT, which has successfully taken care of many of my " aches " . Several days ago, I bought Bruce Fife's coconut flour cookbook -- made the pumpkin quick bread (with butter the first time, coconut oil the second) -- really makes a marvelous easy breakfast!!!! -- today had the Hawaiian pineapple/coconut/banana quick bread. Basically, I figure that (with the modifications I've made-- sorry, but I do eat Splenda), I've added 17g fiber from the coconut flour, and 2 tablespoons coconut oil, to my diet. I've also started adding coconut flour to other recipes (coated baked cod with it last night....). What I've noticed: 1. My digestive system isn't so " sluggish " -- all the extra fiber??? 2. I feel very alert. 3. After eating breakfast, I am really not hungry for most of the day, can eat as planned with no " temptations " to grab a handful of almonds or spoonful of peanut butter or .... However, so far my weight hasn't really budged, perhaps a 1/2 pound up-and-down. Those of you who managed to lose weight, how long did it take to get started? What sort of pattern did you see? My belly is definitely not so pudgy (yay!) -- likely due to item #1 above -- and I can fit some of my old clothes already. Sorry for the book.....but I do hope some of you can offer comments, etc. Thanks.... Bonnie
