My diet consists of carbs, fruit veg etc. However a lot of people do go on low carb/Atkins to lose weight don't they. " Um, Sally, fruits and vegetables, are carbs. And Atkins is not the only low carb plan out there. They do vary from plan to plan. Some use low carb to lose weight while others use it to get healthier. " I made a few comments and showed an interest, that's all. " No, you made comments that showed disagreement, even saying you didn't think your husbands view on the subject was correct. " I thought i might learn a bit, if and how much has the low carb way of eating changed etc. " If you want to learn something, ask a question, but don't disregard the answer because you disagree with it or don't like it. That's not learning, it's arguing. Your posts didn't come across as showing an interest. They sounded like you disagreed. If that's not what you meant then we have a major misunderstanding. " I may not have done lots of research on this subject. I did not know we needed to thoroughly research a topic every time we were allowed an opinion or post on this site, get real. " You say you haven't done lots of research on low carb but you can still have a disagreeing opinion on it. Sorry, wrong. If you don't know all the facts then, you are talking without the knowledge it takes to effectively argue the subject. Yes, thoroughly researching a certain subject then gives you the ammunition to support your views which you cannot do, meaning, telling me, I am wrong in what I am doing for ME. I would not dare tell you that what you are eating is wrong for YOU or for anyone else. " I have read Atkins however, many years ago. " Originally you said you hadn't read low carb books now, you say you have read Atkins. Well, you must not have learned anything from it although, I don't feel that only reading his book is the only thing to be learned about the subject. " I did the 'diet' for a few weeks. " And what exactly did this prove? Have you not heard that to make permanent changes, one must stick to a program more than just a few weeks? If you feel it's so unhealthy why would you even try it? Just to prove yourself right? That would be the only good reason however, you didn't even give it a proper chance so you will never know. " I have loads of studying to do and really haven't the time. I do however know about healthy eating, i've done several courses on nutrition. " If you don't have the time, then you will never be fully informed. But, this is not something you want to learn about anyway or you'd make the time. You say you know about healthy eating however, it's healthy only according to what you've decided to study and you have admitted that you haven't studied everything. So, how do you base a conclusion on only part of the story? " There is lots of research to say it isn't healthy, why don't you do your research? " I have heard/read your side of the story all of my life and when it wasn't working for me, I went on to research other things and that's how I made my decision. You made yours on only researching one side. So, you took nutrition classes? Then you realize that only one side of this subject was actually studied. You have to go outside the box Sally, to gather ALL the information. Of course in-depth low carb information is not included in nutrition courses. They don't want you to learn about that and even more, they don't know enough about it to effectively teach it. And just in case you live under a rock, there is research coming out everyday that says not only is it healthy, but it is curing a world of problems including limiting or omitting medications for several different illnesses. " My god you are so aggressive about this subject, attacking people just because they dare to disagree with you. I really don't care anymore and this definately is my final word on the subject. " I'm not attacking people, I'm defending myself and anyone else who might have an interest in low carb, from your misinformation. I admitted I was sick of defending my WOE to misinformed people and you continue to do the very thing I was talking about. You still say what I do is unhealthy yet, as usual, you don't have proof of anything, especially what it is that I am actually doing. I say I'm healthy, HEALTHIER than ever as a matter of fact, and yet you want to tell me I'm not? Or some horrible fate looms around the corner if I continue? Then, if this is true, how have my former health issues been resolved? How is it that I am thriving and only getting healthier as time goes on? And just how do you know what I'm doing is wrong when, you don't even know what it is that I am doing? This is the arrogance and ignorance that I grow tired of. There is no need for me to argue with someone that doesn't even know what they are arguing about or for. You don't know what I eat, how I eat, or what quantities of food I eat, exercise or anything else about me. Yet, your opinion is justified somehow. Hmmm....what a perfect example of unjustified arrogance. > Recent Activity 34 New Members 1 New Files Visit Your Group
