The most practical thing you can do inside your house is turn the power

off at night from the fuse box, so whatever magnetic field is being

kicked up from your inside wiring is dissolved.

The outside magnetic fields are either coming from overhead power lines

or underground power lines. Those could be blocked if you had about

$150,000. The good thing is magnetics field drop significantly when you

move away from the source. You need to find the most immediate source

to your immediate area and get away from it.

Wires may be running under your floor that are kicking up magnetic and

electrical fields. Hopefully it is an inside wiring issue that can be

fixed with a good electrician that knows about neutral wires and

balancing the phases. Get rid of your dimmer switches.

Turning the power off will fix that too.

Look into RF/Microwave radiation as a source for your symptoms as well.

Turn off your WiFi, cell phones and cordless phones and bribe, cajole

or whatever your immediate neighbors to do so as well. Basically

everything going on in their house is being broadcast into yours

(diminished a little. I love to exaggerate as if this shit wasn't

serious enough.) They can put aluminum foil over their WiFi antenna to

diminish the range or simply remove their antenna.

You can get a relatively cheat RF meter to check that ($150). I won't

say which one or the pros on this list will jump on me for endorsing

the other guy's product.

Then you'll need to get a body voltage meter to see how much

electricity is running through your body or your child's body at night

in bed or where ever your spend time during the day (sitting on couch,

sofa, chair, changing table). Fortunately these meters are cheap

($25-50).

Quick fix is to turn the power off at night for many issues except cell

tower, cell phones, etc (RF and microwave radiation).

Get rid of your metal in your bed (no box spring).

Remove clock radios and anything electric from your the area around

your bed (if you are not turning the power off).

That's a start.

Good luck and hope you find some relief soon.

First of all, are you sure that it is EMF that is causing these

symptoms? I assume that you have also considered chemical

offgassing, mold, recent dental work, etc.?

> I bought a gauss meter and found that my

Do you know what is causing these high readings? Power lines?

Cell towers? Nearby power station?

> What can I do to reduce these readings? Do products that claim to

Yes, some products which claim to help with EMF do indeed help,

but some may be too costly or impractical depending on how much

money and energy you want to put into this. Some people have

gone so far as to put shielding materials on their walls and

windows, some have used " EMF protection devices " that they carry

with them or put onto their fuseboxes, some have turned off their

power at the breakers, etc.

Some things to look at first:

* buy an outlet tester and see if all your outlets are

wired correctly. If not, have someone fix them.

* replace all dimmer switches with regular switches

* replace all energy-efficient compact fluorescent bulbs

with incandescent bulbs

* replace cordless phones with corded phones

* replace wireless Internet with wired Internet

* move all electronics as far away from where you sleep

(TV, clock radio)

* Minimize the amount of metal you have on your body

(jewelry, eyeglasses, dental work, underwire bra, etc.)

Cell antennas would be RF.

Certainly the radiation from the data in the cables could be giving off

significant rf, check that you are not near the cables also telecom cables.

Try

using a very cheap AM radio set to white noise to detect such radiation ie

will give off noise good to check the partition walls especially if you sit in

a sofa against one if the neighbout has a large lcd tv or the like on the

other side you will be getting zapped.

I don't know but what I do know is that when I first

began to suffer from this technology it was days after

someone came and put a satellite dish up next door

although no-one lived there at the time. It was after

this the tinnitus started, although for some time I'd

noticed a frequency sound go through my head at

odd times I'd never had tinnitus.

Re: High EMF in my home.

The homes on my block are all pretty close together. The EMFs seem to be

coming from the powerlines outside. Readings by the powerline - 10 milligauss.

Readings on the sidewalk - 5 milligauss. The readings become gradually less the

further I go, including in my home.

I agree that this could also be an RF/microwave issue. I might get a meter to

measure those readings. I know am very sensitive to cell phones.

Dishes must pick up a lot of stray data transmissions that's why they often

filter the lines. The cables are very leaky together with all the other

coupled and linked gadgets. You may also have a lot of dirty power in your

electrics, this is getting worse with broadband over power lines and plug in

LAN

devices.

Use the AM radio as stated.

I am in the same boat. We really like our house but our five year old

son is sleeping in our bedroom now in the back of the house because

the powerline in front is giving me a reading of 5mG in his bedroom. I

really don't know if I need to move or not. I am thinking that the

houses on the street are using lots of ac which makes the magnetic

field from the powerline stronger - maybe the reading will go down

when the weather cools.

I've had Dominion out to my house but the guy said that he sees lots

of homes with mag readings much higher than mine (from a stove or

stove clock etc) and so there's not anything that can be done about

the powerline's emissions.

I would sell right away were it not for the fact that I can't find

anything as nice on the market at the right price.

I am not the expert on the best location or prices on these items.

I have the aaronia Profi II for the RF

and an expensive guass meter and also a TRIFIELD meter which I usually

use to measure Electric and Magnetic fields in hotel rooms (as well as

a number of cheap and pretty worthless RF meter/toys).

I am not going to endorse one or the other.

Please, lessemf and others, please chime in with your suggestions.

thanks,

For RF, a low cost and very sensitive meter is the Electrosmog Meter

http://www.lessemf.com/rf.html#492

For Body Voltage, see Body Voltage Sensor at

http://www.lessemf.com/es.html#183 (note: you will need a volt meter to go

with it)

Hi Marc

You mention an outlet tester - where would you get one of those suitable for UK

electricity systems?

I guess we'd need to hear from someone in the UK about this! Perhaps

in the electrical section of a hardware store?
