I recently sent this letter to my Doctor before our visit so he could have the

best information for our visit.

I would definitely appreciate any input any of you have as well.

Thanks

Greetings Dr Z.

I am sending this fax to you to outline my current problem so we can make the

most out of my visit scheduled Tuesday morning. I have had a serious

debilitating condition for the last 9 months. Nearly three years ago, you and I

had a previous session, and I was having some issues with what I recall

referring to as tension type headaches. Fortunately at that time, that problem

disappeared on its own. I had just moved back from Florida and perhaps being

back in Wisconsin alleviated my problem. Unfortunately the disappearance seemed

to be only temporary. I am having a similar but different problem again and

it's difficult for me to treat because I find the cause to be electromagnetic

sensitivity.

First, I understand the rare nature of this phenomenon. I am sure many experts

would consider it does not exist, but nevertheless, I find I have the symptoms

of this unusual problem. My symptoms started when I moved to Madison from

Manitowoc in August of 2009. I started having some unusual type of Tension

headaches that got worse when I would be working, which was at Sears in Madison.

In particular, my tension (as well as tingling, and jumpiness) would get worse

when the fans in the building would turn on in the morning but my problem would

get much, much better when the fans shut off about a half hour before the store

closed. I observed this every day for over 4 months.

However, it is not as simple as this. Over time I found that when I drove away

from the Madison area, I would also feel much better as I headed toward the

Manitowoc area on Hwy 151. I particularly felt better after I reached Columbus.

My head got an immediate relief consisting of less tension, less pressure, being

able to think more clearly, concentrate better, etc. Unfortunately the reverse

was also true, and still is. When I drive to Madison, when I reach the Columbus

area I start to feel that additional tension and tingling in the head

accompanied by a difficulty concentrating and overall jumpy uneasiness.

I seriously began to wonder what is causing this. Strangely enough, many times

I was in the middle of the countryside in Dane County, with very little around

me (farm fields, etc) and I still feel awful. Yet when I get away from that

area and back in Manitowoc County (or Sheboygan County) I feel much better. So

I began to consider what could be affecting me there in the middle of the

country that is not present in the middle of the country in Manitowoc County?

That is when I considered radio waves.

I looked at various coverage maps of some of the new signals that are being

broadcast today and discovered the AT & T 3G coverage map is virtually identical

to the areas of Wisconsin where I have been having problems. AT & T 3G is a new

type of cell phone wave.

As far as addressing this problem, I have tried my best to find a solution.

Protecting myself with various types of fabrics that block these types of radio

waves has not been very successful, as it's hard to determine the point of entry

as to where problem is entering and affecting the body.

I don't know how to find a " cure " for the problem, as it is not completely

understood. The reason I am seeing you about this is because I believe the

best course of action is to address the physical handicaps this problem has

created for me. I have thought, researched, and meditated hard on what exactly

these types of information carrying radio waves are doing to me physically. I

have a few theories but first let me share with you everything that DOES give me

relief (at least at some point).

Removing myself from the exposure - Certainly this gives me the greatest relief

as I can remove myself from these waves by moving to a different location. For

example, there is 3G coverage in Appleton. If I drive out of that area to the

countryside of Manitowoc County where this is no such waves, I feel great.

Nighttime – I often feel a sense of great relief at night. For example, I was

visiting family in Madison over the weekend. I felt awful during the day but

around 9 or 10pm I started to feel great relief, almost as if the problem

disappears. I am curious if something in the body is changing at night,

(perhaps lower blood pressure?) or if something in the environment is changing

such as less radio waves.

Tilting my head down – when I turn my head face down, I very often feel better.

I ask myself why. The ideas that come to my mind are either I am turning my

face away from whatever radio waves are impacting me, or the muscles in my neck

are pulling in a different way that take pressure of some nerves that may be

affected by this phenomenon.

Lying down - Often when I lie down I feel some relief. Not sure why. Maybe

the blood pressure is different; maybe my head is tilted in a different way as I

explained above. Maybe other muscles become relaxed.

Waking up – when I wake up, I am fine for a few moments, but if I am in a " hot

zone " then I feel the effects after I get up. I am not sure if this relief is

due to sleeping or due to lying down at the time before rising in the morning.

Raising my arms- just recently (Saturday) I was in Madison for a wedding and I

noticed that when I would raise my arms above my head, I would start to feel

relief as well. Could there be a change in blood pressure in my head when I

do this? Note I was taking aspirin at the time as well.

Touching my hand to my face – When I take my hand and touch to the area of my

face near or around the nose, I do feel a sense of relief very often. I don't

even have to be pressing very hard. Could there be some stimulation of the

nerves in this region that is somehow blocking out my other feelings? Could the

Maxillary Nerve be the one that is being affected by the radio waves in the

first place?

Turning my head side to side - this gives similar relief to tilting my head

down.

Going indoors – When I am inside I tend to feel a lot better, but not perfect.

I realize this is a lot of very detailed self-diagnosing information. This is

due to a lot of my attention focusing on how to handle this for the last 9

months. I have seen a primary care physician for this, but it was earlier on

and I did not understand the condition as much as I do now.

Again, my goal for our visit is to try and address the physical handicaps caused

by my situation. Something seems to be happening in regards to my head. My

pain I believe is caused by nerves, muscle, or blood pressures in the head.

My hope is that we can systematically address each these possibilities and any

others that you may have.

This condition has been a major source of frustration for me. I have moved and

changed jobs because of this problem. I cannot emphasize enough that I must I

must I must feel like I am making progress on this problem. More 3G-network

coverage is popping up all over the place, which severely limits where I am able

to live and work comfortably. The only feasible solution I see is if not to

solve the problem, to address the handicaps I am dealing with. I sincerely hope

you will help me do that, and if at anytime you feel someone special may be

especially qualified at treating my symptoms, I will consider any

recommendations you may have.

Mark Kuether

What kind of doctor are you going to see?

It seems that the only doctors who can really help this sort of problem

are those that deal with things like chronic fatigue syndrome and

multiple chemical sensitivities. Alternative docs (naturopaths,

chiropracters, osteopaths) are a good place to start looking.

Also, we can pretty much say that based on the experiences here,

that you probably have a problem with either heavy metals,

parasites, chronic infections (viral, bacterial, mycoplasma,

lyme), or chemical toxicity. Improve those conditions,

and your sensitivity to 3G will likely improve. And if you're

really successful, it may go away completely.

Hi Mark,

I read your entire letter and was very fascinated by it. You brought up so many

interesting points. It really got my interest when you said you feel better

after 9-10 pm as I have been saying this about myself for quite a long time! I

end up staying up so late at night because after suffering all day I finally

feel better! You too? Please let me know if you find out any additional info on

this " 9-10 pm " thing.

Thanks so much for sharing your letter.

Cheryl -- Feeling good after 8 pm is a classic adrenal fatigue sign. I have

that too and I hate to go to bed because I feel SO much better then. With AF, a

person feels the worst in the morning, somewhat better in the afternoon (w/

often a crash around dinnertime) and then much much better after 8 pm.

Great testimony.

I agree with Mark that finding a good health care practitioner is key.

The regular AMA certified MD's will be of NO use and in fact

detrimental.

Seek out a Kinesiologist, Naturopathic doctor, dietary professional,

etc. that can help you balance your body.

For me, good fats (Dr. Budwig type foods of Hemp Oil, Flaxseed Oil and

cottage cheese, Krill Oil, etc) and organic raw colostrum has made the

biggest recovery in the shortest time.

http://www.realmilk.com/where2.html

Before you jump into some big heavy metal chelation process, make sure

your gut (probiotics, kefir...) is strong and colon clean. You are

going to be dumping a bunch of toxic material down there and you don't

want it to recycle.

Go slow! Sleep with the power off in your room and no appliances on

anywhere near you. Good sleep is critical!

All my best to you,

Yes, a major part of my ES was also adrenal, and I've found adrenal support

supplements to be a big help -- over the years, I've used Dr. 's

Adrenal Rebuilder, IsoCort, Desicated Adrenal, Drenamin, etc. etc.

It can take years to support/rebuild the adrenals, although with some of

these supplements you can start feeling a bit better fairly soon (IsoCort,

for example, is a good " quick-fix " , as is Standard Process " Cataplex C " --

a Vitamin C supplement that includes short-term adrenal support).

I am having a similar but different problem again and it's

difficult for me to treat because I find the cause to be electromagnetic

sensitivity.

Strangely enough, many times I

was in the middle of the countryside in Dane County, with very little around me

(farm fields, etc) and I still feel awful. Yet when I get away from that area

and back in Manitowoc County (or Sheboygan County) I feel much better. So I

began to consider what could be affecting me there in the middle of the country

that is not present in the middle of the country in Manitowoc County? That is

when I considered radio waves.

I don't know how to find a " cure " for the problem, as it is not completely

understood. The reason I am seeing you about this is because I believe the best

course of action is to address the physical handicaps this problem has created

for me. I have thought, researched, and meditated hard on what exactly these

types of information carrying radio waves are doing to me physically. I have a

few theories but first let me share with you everything that DOES give me relief

(at least at some point).

I felt awful during the day but

around 9 or 10pm I started to feel great relief, almost as if the problem

disappears. I am curious if something in the body is changing at night, (perhaps

lower blood pressure?) or if something in the environment is changing such as

less radio waves.

Tilting my head down – when I turn my head face down, I very often feel

better. I ask myself why. The ideas that come to my mind are either I am turning

my face away from whatever radio waves are impacting me, or the muscles in my

neck are pulling in a different way that take pressure of some nerves that may

be affected by this phenomenon.

Lying down - Often when I lie down I feel some relief. Not sure why. Maybe the

blood pressure is different; maybe my head is tilted in a different way as I

explained above.

Could there be a change in blood pressure in my head when I do

this?

This is

due to a lot of my attention focusing on how to handle this for the last 9

months. I have seen a primary care physician for this, but it was earlier on and

I did not understand the condition as much as I do now.

Again, my goal for our visit is to try and address the physical handicaps caused

by my situation. Something seems to be happening in regards to my head. My pain

I believe is caused by nerves, muscle, or blood pressures in the head. My hope

is that we can systematically address each these possibilities and any others

that you may have.

Thanks Mark for sharing your very interesting letter. I'd query one thing -

when you refer to " radio waves " , I believe the frequencies involved with

cellphones etc are actually microwaves (can some of the electrical experts

in the group confirm this?). It's important to distinguish, as radio waves

usually don't harm anyone, even most ES people, but microwaves certainly

affect ES people. They are both in the electromagnetic spectrum but radio

waves have much longer wavelength, lower frequency and hence carry lower

energy and do much less damage.

Very interesting resulting discussion about the " 9-10 pm " effect and adrenal

fatigue. Again, lots of ES people seem to have the latter. The other

possible explanation might be if cellphone use drops off sharply in the

evening? (I'm just guessing here).

Marc correctly reminds us that the vast majority of ES sufferers seem to

have significant chemical sensitivities as well (usually linked to a

compromised immune system). Is that also true of you Mark?

Hi Mark,

I read your entire letter and was very fascinated by it. You brought up so

many interesting points. It really got my interest when you said you feel

better after 9-10 pm as I have been saying this about myself for quite a

long time! I end up staying up so late at night because after suffering all

day I finally feel better! You too? Please let me know if you find out any

additional info on this " 9-10 pm " thing.

Thanks so much for sharing your letter.

Hey Ian,

About the different sources of emf,

I think all sources of emf harm us in some way... Just a good thing we are not

extremely sensitive to all of them!

2 years ago I was " this " close to renting a house close to the woods, really

great place there, quiet, good location, no cell phone masts closeby...

Later, accidentally, I found out that 1.5 miles further there was a gigantic

radio station. Maybe knows what I'm talking about, it is called " De

Gulke Putten " (Aalter/Wingene/Ruiselede). This is located in

Flanders/Belgium/Europe.

That radio station is focused on " maritime services " and is sending low/radio

frequencies worldwide... They've told me most radio communication anywhere in

the world between ships goes via that radio station... In the 2nd world war they

were also used for military purposes... I think it's a radio station, one of the

most important in Europe...

Anyway, I would've thought I wasn't gonna get harmed by these signals, the house

was 1.5 miles away from it... Then I started testing to stay for 0.5-1 mile away

from the masts, I did that 3 times and each time I got a headache...

Then I stayed for 2 hours with the landlords from whom I was gonna rent that

house. They lived 1 mile from the masts and there my headache returned and I

felt almost immediately better when driving elsewhere... Then I was really sure

I wasn't imagining anything, I concluded that I just have to stay out of there!

I don't think there are that many radio masts that emit so much emf... And then

again, to some emf I seem to be extremely sensitive... most of you guys would be

fine there probably...

So in the end I didn't rent that house! I stayed in different bed & breakfasts

for 6 months longer, until I rented something else, low-emf...

gr,

Hi,

Thanks for the info. I know I have adrenal fatigue and for that I am often

exhausted in the mornings. I didn't know about the 'after 8pm' deal though until

now. For me now it is generally " low mood' that I suffer from prior to 9 pm or

so and then I seem to feel ok and handle everything much better. Do you

experience this as well? What do you do about it?

Does the adrenal hormone help a lot? Do you need to go to a doctor to get it? I

have no health insurance.

Thanks again for sharing.

I am having a similar but different problem again and it's

difficult for me to treat because I find the cause to be electromagnetic

sensitivity.

However, it is not as simple as this. Over time I found that when I drove away

Strangely enough, many times I

that is not present in the middle of the country in Manitowoc County? That is

when I considered radio waves.

I don't know how to find a " cure " for the problem, as it is not completely

I felt awful during the day but

around 9 or 10pm I started to feel great relief, almost as if the problem

Could there be a change in blood pressure in my head when I do

this?

This is

due to a lot of my attention focusing on how to handle this for the last 9

Cheryl -- I wish I had a great answer for you, but I'm still working on my own

AF. Mine is more muscle weakness, light sensitivity, and surges of adrenaline

at weird times. After 8 pm, I feel pretty much fine --so, like you, I hate to

go to bed and start the whole cycle over the next day. Dr. 's adrenal

rebuilders (taken for 8 months) helped me awhile ago and got my cortisol levels

looking normal, but they have crashed again, so that was obviously not a

permanent fix. I need to start taking them again, but I dislike the

side-effects (creepy revved feeling). If you want to do hydrocortisone, there's

a whole forum created just for that -- Natural Thyroid Hormones/Adrenals.

They can tell you how to dose it and how to get it without a doctor. They are a

" my way or the highway " group, so there really aren't intelligent discussions

about any other treatment options, but for using hc, they do have tons of info

and help.

Hope that helps! Amy

I am having a similar but different problem again and it's

difficult for me to treat because I find the cause to be electromagnetic

sensitivity.

That is

Hi Mark,

For the initial problem with the fans, I can relate as one time some people came

to my house and plugged in a strong motor into the outlet for a water hose, and

my head was feeling uncomfortable. I checked my Trifield meter and saw a brief

surge in the power line EMF while the motor was on. After they moved the motor

elsewhere, I felt better.

It's definitely a multi-faceted problem. Microwaves, power lines, and dirty

electricity cause problems for people.

Btw, what type of shielding cloth did you use? Note that they only help for

microwave EMFs, NOT for power line EMFs. Also, for microwaves, you should use

something strong, 20 dB is not enough. I'd prefer 60 dB. Also keep in mind the

cloth works by deflection, so often you need to be well-enclosed (almost a

Faraday cage) for it to work.

Hi ,

By relative powers, a radio tower is typically much stronger than a cell tower.

For example, a typical cell tower might be ~100 milliW to 10 W transmit power.

Meanwhile, a radio tower could be 6000 to 100000W transmit power.

So if you have to be hundreds of meters away from a cell tower to be safe, then

you might have to be tens of thousands of meters from a radio tower. This is

just approximation though, I'm not sure the attenuation factors for different

wavelengths.

With the Sutro tower study (Cherry, 2002), cancer appears to increase as you get

closer to it. At 3km, you're still 5 times likely to get cancer of some kind

(1uW/cm^2). Many other radio/TV tower studies (Australia, Great Britain, and

Rome) have also found increased cancer.

Hope this helps,

Regards distance to radio tower, thank you for sending, this makes sense, at

least in my own experience... I see that I have to be 68 km away from it... Well

almost succeeded: now I live 20 km away from it!
