Guest guest
Carol, The VCO Detol Protocal is from Bruce Fife's book, Coconut Cures. It's basically 5-12 Tablespoons VCO per day, with LOTS of water, (or lemonade), NO caffeine, NO NADA else, except for small amounts of FRESH coconut. Three days is a preliminary goal. Seven to ten days is preferrable. (In my case, the Candida die-off caused me to have extreme nausea, headaches, and upset stomach (cramps and diarhea). I barely made it through 2 seperate three day periods. Jeanne (also a subscriber to this forum) had better luck than I did with it. She made it through the entire seven days while continuing to work her job. I highly recommend the www. if you suspect Candida is a possible health issue for you. There is at least one simple, FREE, self test on the site, along with volumes of files full of valuable information. Best regards, --- Carol <bsl0619@...> wrote: > Could you please tell me what VCO Detox Protocal is? > I also thought my synthroid was not working, the > dose is now doubled...I still do not feel any > better, and I'm still gaining weight. Guest guest
I did the tests this morning...the spit test was positive. I signed up this morning for the group...thanks. I'll find out for sure on Monday. I had a lot of blood workup done last week, since my new endo didn't think it was my thryoid either. It is amazing how this mimics hypothyroidism......I think the weight and brain fog is the worst. Guest guest
Carol, For me, the worst thing for me was knowing that I was essentially starving to death (not digesting or assimilating), even though I was gaining weight, despite the fact that I was eating nutritious foods. The second worst thing was the stomach bloating, even when eating small meals. --- Carol <bsl0619@...> wrote: > I did the tests this morning...the spit test was > positive. Guest guest
I agree with the bloating. I am not hungry most of the time, and when I eat, its always a small amount. Afterwards, it looks like I'm 5 months pregnant! I am a very healthy eater, so giving up what little sweets I do eat won't be a problem. I do enjoy a glass of wine in the evening though. Besides taking the coconut oil, I also started doing a colon cleanse. I figure it cannot hurt at this point Carol Henley <heavenlycoconuts@...> wrote: Carol, For me, the worst thing for me was knowing that I was essentially starving to death (not digesting or assimilating), even though I was gaining weight, despite the fact that I was eating nutritious foods. Guest guest
Carol, Sounds familiar. I can relate. In fact, I even went out and purchased a " First Response " test kit (at 48 years old)! Probiotics are important too. Cultured vegetables, miso are good sources. If you are interested, I will send you (an offline) attachment with my method of preparing them. Actually, that offer goes for ANYONE who is interested. --- Carol <bsl0619@...> wrote: > I agree with the bloating. Guest guest
I just checked on my calender and have been taking 3 or more T of CO for 12 weeks. Still no weight loss, or loss of inches. Can those of you who have taken it for awhile and then finally lost, please encourage me? I know I have asked this before, but it does help to hear from others. Thanks in advance! Fern Re: Re: VCO detox protocal , I would appreciate any information you could send me. I bought over the weekend, Candigone...hopefully that will start the process of getting rid of it. I am taking about 5 tbs of coconut oil a day Carol.....my email is bsl0619@... Henley <heavenlycoconuts@...> wrote: Carol, Sounds familiar. Guest guest
Carol, Why do you take neem leaf? Here in the Philippines Neem is used as an insecticide. Re: VCO detox protocal Could you let me know how you prepare the vegetables. What did GSE do for you....heard people talk about using it. I'm on day 3 of Candigone. Bee Wilder is much more knowledgable than myself, and she is also reliable at responding to questions. WHAT I KNOW AND WHAT WORKS: 1) THE CANDIDA DIET: (as recommended by Bee on the above site) is CRUCIAL. For me, the most difficult food items I need to avoid are FRUIT, and caffeinne. As much as I love fruits and sweets, it just isn't worth it to me to pay the price of consuming them. I expect that in the months or years ahead, I will be able to include them back into my diet, but for now, they are OFF LIMITS. [i had been following Dr. Mercola's (www.mercola.com/) dietary recommendations for a couple years, so the transition to the Candida Diet was relatively minor. Although, I confess that I still drink a couple cups of green tea in the morning.] 2) ORGANIC UNPASTEURIZED PROBIOTICS (as in homemade rejuvelacs, miso, cultured veggies are essential, with every meal. These can be prepared quite simply at home without any expensive supplies. If you are interested, I will send to you my methods for making them along with Internet information resources (as an attachment). [ORGANIC as much as possible.} 3) COCONUT OIL, COCONUT OIL, COCONUT OIL. I use it LIBERALLY and EXCLUSIVELY when I sautee anything and everything. [i also add Natural Palm Oil as a flavor enhancer to cooked foods, soup broths, etc.] 4) AMPLE PROTEIN: in the form of grassfed meat products (www.grasslandbeef.com/),wild catch fish are good choices. Bee Wilder also recommends eggs, but I find that they are still difficult for me to digest if they are cooked. {I didn't have any problem with them when I was eating them raw, before.] 5) LOTS OF WATER!!!! MY LIFE AS A LAB RAT: A) I am currently experimenting with a product called Capriol which is LIQUID Caprylic Acid (derived from coconuts) and olive oil. It is supposed to be mixed with Psyllium powder & water to be effective, but I have been using Garden of Life Super Seed powder which seems to be a great substitute. My source for this was Naturally Empowered (http://www.naturallyempowered.com/. NOTE: Bee Wilder recommends Nystatin (an internal fungicide which is supposedly safe and effective against Candida). Apparently she had personal success with after prolonged use (2 and 1/2 years). Being that I am not a pharma fan, I have not been willing to try it. Also, Naturally Empowered did a comparative study on the most widely used Candida treatments, and Caproil was supposedly more effective than Nystatin. This I KNOW IS WORKING BECAUSE I CAN ACTUALLY FEEL IT! [Once in a while, I feel like I have ants biting me on the inside of my stomach.] Also, I noticed that there is another company (www.Potentherbs.com/) that sells LIQUID Caprylic Acid in gell caps. ANOTHER NOTE: There are also Caprylic Acid tablets, which I have read are NOT very effective. GREAT NEWS: www.wildernessfamilynaturals.com is having a close-out sale on (dated) Coconut Spread. They are offering it for $1.50/jar. { The regular price is $5.95.] I have discovered that this makes terrific smoothies when mixed with water, ice, vanilla and stevia. {I would love to add pineapple juice to make a pina colada, but they are delicious with just those ingredients. The ratios can vary from 1/2 to a one whole jar of Coconut Spread, 1-2 trays of ice, and 24 oz. of water, depending upon how rich or thick you want it. I am now on Day Three of a delicious Coconut Smoothie Fast (see my recipe above), while supplementing with Caproil and Super Seed. I have ample energy, and NO uncomfortable die-off symptoms! I wasn't really planning on it. It is just that I have been feeling so well, I thought I'd continue until I feel the need for something else. OTHER INTERESTING PRODUCTS I have tried: THREELAC (a probiotic susperstrain combo that supposedly feeds on Candida), which has been used extensively in Japan for a number of years, without any reported negative side-effects. The company claims that their product will work regardless of one's diet, but I personally think that is a RIDICULOUS claim. There is a company called on the Internet (Sorry I didn't bookmark it) that offers a LIFETIME, FULL MONEY BACK GUARANTEE on it, so I have been using it. At this point, it is difficult to say how effective it is. C) ALLICIN, which is a RAW Garlic Extract. It's rather pricey for what you get. IMO. fresh grated raw garlic and ginger are hard to beat. D) SYCLOVIR (a Marine Food Grade silica rich micro organism/diatom that supposedly consumes 1000 times its weight in Candida.) For me, it caused intestinal distress and major headaches, so I returned it after three a three day trial period. E) GSE, or Grapefruit SEED Extract is POTENT medicine which deserves a great deal of respect. Years ago it worked well for me. A few months ago, I tried it again and it seemed to be working great. Actually, it worked TOO WELL, and I was really sick with die-off symptoms for about a week. If I had cut back on the dosages (one dropperful in an 8oz. glass of water, three times per day) and drank a lot more water, I probably would have done better. F) BRUCE FIFE'S COCONUT OIL DETOX PROTOCAL (from the book, Coconut Cures) which is basically 5-12 Tablespoons of VCO per day, 8-10 glasses of water or lemonade sweetened with stevia, small amounts of FRESH coconut and NOTHING ELSE for three to seven days, or longer. [i highly recommend the book, which is full of fascinating and practical information.} COCONUT OIL is also a POTENT and EFFECTIVE medicine and has been used successfully in curing just about EVERY DISEASE IMAGINABLE, including AIDS. As I wrote earlier, my die-off symptoms were too intense so I never made it longer than three days on this, after which, I didn't notice any significant improvement in my health. Jeanne (another member of this forum) has done it a few times with more success than I had. She was able to stay on it for an entire week. Again, I recommend the @groups website for any information I haven't covered here. There, now you know everything that I do about battling Candidaisis that I know. I hope that was helpful. Guest guest
, I knew that you were sick but I never knew how sick, until this note. God bless that you are still with us! Nina VCO detox protocal Carol, About 13 years ago, I had a severe case of Candidaisis that nearly killed me. After being bed-ridden for three weeks, I was taken to a natureopathic doctor who prescibed SUPER MEGA doses ( I don't remember the amounts, except that they were EXTREMELY high) of Vit. A,C. & E and multivitamins, along with GSE. During that time of illness, I probably wouldn't have noticed any additional die-off symptoms on top of evrything I was experiencing because I was literally nearly dead. [My friend who was caring for me at the time happened to be an emergency room RN. She was convinced that I was going to die, and told me later, that I even 'smelled like death'.] Within a day's time, following the nathureopath's advice, I finally began to recover. Recently, when I tried GSE, I experienced die-off symptoms of nausea, diarhea, and a MAJOR headache. My tongue coating was thick, and my breath smelled horrible. I will be glad to send you that information off-line. ____________________________________________________ Sports Rekindle the Rivalries. Sign up for Fantasy Football http://football.fantasysports. Guest guest
Cravings very reduced, as appetite. Eating lowcarb. I have a very hard time losing weight due to meds, thyroid issues, etc. Met with my doctor today and we plan to make some changes in meds, she said to continue with the CO. Now, this is most of the time, I do fall off the wagon and have always had a problem with binge eating sweets. But, the CO has helped that tremendously. I do consume some alcohol with diet soda's and some wine. Fern Re: Re: VCO detox protocal What else are you eating? Guest guest
Most diet pop is made with aspartame or other sweeteners which just keep your sweet cravings alive and are very detrimental to your health. Alcohol is just a lot of empty calories with no nutrition. Where are your raw food enzymes coming from? We stop manufacturing them ourselves after age 27 and every function of the body needs them. If you have no raw food enzymes you aren't getting the nutrition from your food and your body thinks it is starving so it hangs on to the weight to prevent that. I can not stress this enough THINK SYSTEMIC ENZYMES. A company called Enzymedica does nothing but enzymes. They have a short test that tells you which ones you are deficient in. Seriously, on what you are eating, even if you do manage to lose weight you will never be able to keep up that diet and the weight will just come back probably with a venegence. Check out a book call the Metabolic Diet. It also has a test to tell you which metabolic type you are and how to gear your food intake to that. Guest guest
Fern, I don't see your 5-9 servings of vegetables per day! I see two. I see almost no fiber. The asparagus and the green beans together have a fraction of the fiber you need per day. See Bruce Fife's book, Coconut Cures. He has a long section on fiber. If you look in the back of his book, you will see that he recommends 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables per day, plus grains and beans, for almost every condition where he mentions diet. Fiber sweeps away waste, cleanses the internal digestive organs, and keeps the bowel movements large, light and healthy. I also see very little antioxidants, you seem to be relying on huge amounts of green tea for your antioxidants. For the impact of all of this animal protein on your system, please check out T. Colin 's book, The China Study. From a yin/yang point of view, your alcohol, diet soda, wine and sweets binging look like your attempts to balance the tight, " yang " effect of all of the animal flesh, to open up and loosen you up. You berate yourself for binging, but you would probably go mad without these things. You're not eating a lot in the center - it's mostly one end or the other. The VCO seems to be one of the only " in the center " foods I see on your list. Hope this helps, and good luck. Nina Re: Re: VCO detox protocal What else are you eating? Guest guest
Dear Fern, and Nina have raised some excellent points regarding dietary choices, and made good suggestions for additional information. I'd also like to suggest Dr. Mercola's site www.mercola.com. He has excellent dietary recommendations, as well of an abundance of articles addressing the serious health risks associated with Aspartame. Thanks for mentioning that about Aspartame. --- claudia diltz <oxyqueen1187@...> wrote: > Most diet pop is made with aspartame or other > sweeteners which just keep your sweet cravings alive > and are very detrimental to your health. Guest guest
Nina, Thanks for helping. I am fairly new to trying to heal myself, instead of the old " trying to lose weight " mindset. I had been trying to do a very low carb diet so thus the protein and lack of veggies. But, from what I am reading and learning, that is not only an unhealthy way, but not a sustainable way of eating. So, will add back in the veggies I do love to increase the fiber and antioxidants. I have been taking fiber and antioxidant supplements, but I know the real thing is best. Our social life have revolved around a club where everyone drinks, but I know and do realize that is something I am going to have to pretty much give up to heal my body. Never thought about being attracted to the wine/liquor b/c of sweet cravings but that makes sense as I like the liquor in diet drinks. I am learning so very much on this forum, I truly appreciate your taking the time to help me out. Fern :-) RE: Re: VCO detox protocal Fern, I don't see your 5-9 servings of vegetables per day! Guest guest
, thanks to you as well for your help. I will also visit Mercola's site and read about his dietary recommendations. I also met with my doctor yesterday to discuss getting off some of the prescription meds that we feel are hindering my weight loss. She is an MD but also treats with supplements, so we are reducing the cortisol I am on for adrenel fatigue, adding a supplement for support. Weaning me off lexapro, but slowly adding in 5HPT, or it is something like that. Anyway, I had first gone to this doctor 3 years ago in a health crisis, after going to regular MD's for several years and being put on more and more prescription drugs. She had helped me so much, but as we talked yesterday, now we are to the point where I have healed some, but we have to fine-tune things to help lose weight and to get me off most of the RX's that the other doctors put me on. Thanks, Fern :-) Re: Re: VCO > detox protocal > > > What else are you eating? > > Alobar > > RE: Re: VCO > detox protocal > > > >I just checked on my calender and have been > taking 3 or more T of CO for > 12 > > weeks. Guest guest
Fern, An amylase deficiency will cause not only sugar cravings because carbs don't get digested but allergies as well. Lipase deficiency will cause fats not to be digested. Enzymedica has a CD that they send to the health food stores which I believe is free and it is excellent. Vitalzyme also has a great CD about enzymes although we aren't nearly as impressed with the product, the information is excellent. Fern Francis <ffran@...> wrote: Nina, Thanks for helping. Guest guest
I agree with what everyone said. What really stood out to me was the lack of vegetables and fiber and raw food! Man cannot live on one serving of vegetable a day! I lost weight using the VCO but my diet is mainly veggies and any other fiber filled unrefined food. I don't touch artificial sweeteners or white sugar. I really think veggies and fiber have a great impact on health and weight loss. Eat to Live by Dr. Fuhrman has great info backed up by references about how important a high veggie and fiber intake is. The alcohol and caffeine dehydrate you and you need to take in EXTRA water to make up for that. so on top of the amount of water you already need, you need to add even more water now. I will post a > > couple of day's diet. > > > > egg/bacon for brunch > > baked turkey breast mid afternoon > > filet mignon, steamed asparagus, homemade LC > > cheesecake dinner > > 6 cups green tea > > plenty of water. > > 6 T VCO > > 1 glass white wine with dinner > > 2 gin/diet tonics mid afternoon. > > > >
Guest guest
<<The alcohol and caffeine dehydrate you and you need to take in EXTRA water to make up for that. so on top of the amount of water you already need, you need to add even more water now. >> How true, but y'know what - I'm not sure that even drinking tons of water can really make up for the dehydrating effect of alcohol, caffeine, refined sugar/flour, and animal products. I think the dehydration happens at a deeper level in the organs and tissues, and how they distribute fluids throughout the body. When you drink tons of water on top of a fluid imbalance, it can easily go right through you and not get absorbed. A good analogy is calcium and the bones. Let's say you have gum inflammation. The nearby heat dries out and erodes the jawbone. Let's say you took lots of calcium. Would the calcium undo the damage of the inflamed gums and protect the jawbone? Probably not. More likely the extra calcium would get excreted, or stored in the soft tissues, or harden as crystals in the kidneys or bladder, or cause arthritis and stiffness. Just as heat and dryness adjacent to bone is not compensated by extra calcium pills, so I believe that the dryness in the body - caused by the inability of the liver and the kidneys to distribute fluids properly - cannot simply be corrected by adding more water. You need to adjust your food choices so that the liver and the kidneys can distribute the fluids to where they are needed. I had this experience myself when I was eating too many nuts. I was very dry. Drinking tons of water didn't end the parching. I had to cut way down on the nuts and seeds. Made me real sad! But once I did, I feel better, look better, and am thinner. Hope this helps. Nina
Guest guest
I eat a low carb diet. I eat 6-8 cups of salad every day, plus another 8 ounces of cooked veggies. I stay away from fruits, and high carb veggies like beans, corn, carrots, beets, as well as all starches like breads, pasta, grain (rice), potatoes. There is lots of fiber in 6 cups of salad! I also take 2 doses of the inulin sold by Duncan Crow to give me even more fiber. I eat modest portions of meat twice a day. I stay away from processed meats like bacon, sausage, hot dogs, etc. Alobar RE: Re: VCO detox protocal > Nina, > Thanks for helping. Guest guest
Doing better on my diet today, thanks to you all for the advice and suggestions. I had 1 egg, 1 sl bacon for b/fast. Salad with grilled chicken for lunch, 2T CO, 4 cups green tea and for dinner I am having roast beef and yellow squash. Bought some strawberries today, would a small serving of those be ok, I know usually doing lowcarb they say the berries are the best choice. I continue to read and learn, thanks again to all of you who answered my plea for help! Fern :-) Re: Re: VCO detox protocal I eat a low carb diet.
