Dear CJ,

Thanks so much:-) I had added a few drops of tea tree oil to VCO and noted

some shrinkage of the carbuncle, but I was not using as much as is indicated

in your e-mail. I will increase the dosage. Thanks so much:-)

Dear Donna,

Tea tree oil can successfully clear up a boil or carbuncle without the

use of any prescription medication. You can mix it with coconut oil (which

is

an excellent carrier oil) or jojoba for best results. Try about 1/8 to 1/4

teaspoon tea tree oil in 1 to 2 teaspoons carrier oil, and apply

generously.

They don't have to be mixed, just put both items in your palm and use. It

also

helps to apply a dusting powder, such as corn starch or a talc-free bath

powder, to the area to keep it dry. Depending on where the carbuncle is,

consider

replacing synthetic fabrics with 100-percent cotton. Also, tight clothing

can contribute to boils and carbuncles.

The condition is caused by a staph infection. Staph cells thrive in

warm, moist environments. To clear up the problem and prevent a recurrence,

apply

diluted tea tree oil several times a day, always following with a

moisture-absorbing powder, and keep the area as well ventilated as

possible.

Feel better!

The one thing that has worked for me over the years is heat up a little milk in

a sauce pan and throw a piece of bread in, Take a paper towel or cloth and pick

up a piece of the warm milk soaked bread and hold it against the boil. Very

warm but not hot enough to burn you. Hold it there until it cools off and do it

several times and your boil will come to a head or just shrink away.

An older woman I worked with many years ago told me about this poultice when I

had a huge boil on my thigh that wouldn't go away. I have even used it on really

deep blemishes on my chin.
