Guest guest
Hi, I opened up a young coconut and the water is darker, not golden, tastes fine, but not super sweet. The meat is sort of purplish pink in color, and very young at the bottom (not solid) but about 1/8 " thick at the top of the coconut...should I toss it or eat/drink it? What does this mean? I've had this type of things happen before... Thanks for your help
Guest guest
I've read that pink is not good. Your coconut is spoiled. Throw it away and try another one. -Patty > > Hi, > I opened up a young coconut and the water is darker, not golden, > tastes fine, but not super sweet. Guest guest
A good coconut water is quite clear. The young coconut meat is soft, slippery and some are transparent or opaque, looks like a jelly.
Guest guest
Hi, I live in a coconut farm, part-time. I have seen pinkish fresh cocomeat, young and mature, in some occassions. I still dont know what causes it: whether microbial, chemical or physical. It can often be seen in long-standing stockpiles of copra.. In all cases, it was due to deterioration of the meat. I dont know if it is really harmful, I have eaten a very little part of it for curiosity (not the copra), it tasted deteriorated, but nothing bad happened to me. I suggest it is given back to nature by composting it. :} Tony From: idobooks232 <idobooks@...> Subject: What does a purpleish pink coconut water and meat mean?
