Guest guest
Hi Alberta, When I first started VCO, I gained weight (enough to feel it) and it stayed with me for about 5 or 6 weeks. Then, all of a sudden, it just melted away. Just dropped off. I'm guessing it was an assimilation adjustment (liver? intestines?). Since then, I've had absolutely no weight problems with taking VCO. My only issue with VCO is periodic nausea and/or abdominal distress. After reading many messages on this sight, I'm guessing it is a recurring pathogen problem along the digestive tract. I don't know that there is a solution to this. Does anyone know if/when/how nausea and/or abdominal distress may be eliminated??? I would love to hear from you. Thanks to everyone for keeping the lines of communication open. Love and Laughter, Anne Hot Springs, AR > > Hi, I have been on VCO since sunday. Guest guest
Alberta: Here is MY take on this. Fat cells make a LOT of Estrogen (I should know cause I have a lot of them, plus that is what the medical books say) AND I believe Coconut Oil FACILITATES Hormone synthesis, which could inevitably INCREASE Estrogen to some extent. AND Estrogen causes water retention. Make sense? Bonnie retaining water? Hi, I have been on VCO since sunday. Instead of losing weight I have been gaining weight, retaining water. I have went up 5 pounds since then. Before that I had been losing weight steadly by excersicing and watching what I eat. I am 285 and had lost 20 pounds since november 2007. I had just uped my walking from 2miles to 4 miles a day 5 days a week. I drink at least 150 ounces of water a day. I eat breakfast, usually healthy cearel or eggs. Has anyone else had this problem? thanks Alberta
Guest guest
Anne: I would say that less VCO and more often might help the nausea etc. Bonnie Re: retaining water? Guest guest
ok, I think I understand that. Now I take natural progesterone cream for low projesterone. What this cause a interaction too. thanks Alberta > > Alberta: > > Here is MY take on this. Guest guest
NO Progesterone is an Estrogen modulator, in that it " keeps Estrogen down " , so it is essential to have progesterone at 20 mg. per day in Divided doses, then taking off one week without any cream per month. If you still have periods then it would be a bit tricky. Bonnie retaining water? > > > Hi, I have been on VCO since sunday. Instead of losing weight I have > been gaining weight, retaining water. Guest guest
ok, thanks. I use the natural progesterone twice a day. I do use it all month long even during my period because mine is low. Another thing I noticed is that since starting the coconut oil I have been very tired all the time. I read on another form that it could be from my body detoxing. I think I will just lower the dose for a while and see how that goes and then gradually build it back up. thanks Alberta > > > > Alberta: > > > > Here is MY take on this. Guest guest
Alberta: You CANNOT take Progesterone cream without a break. Afterawhile, you will get very tired and then you will have problems thinking. There are Progesterone receptors in the brain as well as other places. By taking 7 days off every month, the same 7 days, it will CLEAR your Progesterone receptors so that they work better and receive the hormone better. Your being tired is NOT from the Coconut Oil, it is from the Progesterone. I have been using Progesterone for 12 years and FAITHFULLY take off 7 days each month but I too, tried using it all the time (to shrink my Uterine lining) and ran into problems, so I stopped doing that. I have read 5 books on how to use progesterone and it has to be MEASURED every day and if you're using 20 mg. daily, then it would be 10 mg. twice daily. Now depending on the strength of your cream, that might be different. Would you like to let me know the mg. per tube that you're using? Guest guest
Hi, I am using the prolief cream. I use one pump 2 times a day. each pump is a 1/4 teaspoon. I have been taking this since Ocotber and never had any problems with it. it acually made me much better. I have severe PMDD so my docotor has me taking it all month long. I know its not from the progestrone because it just started shortly after starting the coconut oil. I have been doing alot of research right now on the coconut oil and it seems that my body is going through a detox mode right now. Besides being tired my whole body hurts like the flu. I didn't take any coconut oil today and have felt fine all day. I am going to start again tomorrow and see what happens. If I feel the same then I know it is from the detoxing. I will then probably go from 1 tablespoon 3 times a day down to 1 teaspoon 3 times a day and build up gradually from there. I do want to thank you for your help though. I am learning more every day. Guest guest
Isn't ANYBODY going to recommend ANY hormone testing to find out what your levels are before diving headfirst into supplementing willy-nilly? You can really mess yourself up if you don't KNOW what you need, and just start shoving stuff into the body. Pregenolone is a precursor, and may not even be converted into the hormone you think you need. I think this whole discussion with no recommendation for testing levels first is nuts. sol Bonnie Cole wrote: > it is essential to have progesterone at 20 mg. per day in Divided doses,
Guest guest
Sol, I agree that progesterone or any hormone can potentially be overdone, but like you say, pregnenolone, the building block of hormones, is better; this is because it falls within a feedback loop mechanism that prevents overage. HGH growth hormone release falls to about 50% of a 22-year-old's release by the time you're 50, DHEA falls by 10% per decade after age 30, and progesterone falls as well. HGH release is also governed by a limiting feedback loopt hat you could override with injections of HGH hormone under a doctor's supervision, but in that case yes he would monitor HGH level. Anyway, jacking the " known to be low " levels up a little is not really willy-nilly but knowledge applied, and I for one use DHEA off and on to go with my SomaLife gHP HGH secretagogue. " known to be low " . If you don't know your levels are low, why supplement? In general, it seems to me a better idea to supplement only those hormones we actually have confirmed low levels of. Precursors such as pregenolone may not convert to the desired hormone that is low. Conversion mechanisms/paths in the body may be malfunctioning, particularly if the HPA axis and adrenals and thyroid are not functioning well. HGH, I have come around to your view on supplementing precursors. Havent' come up with the money for SomaLife yet, but plan to give it a try if and when I can get the $$$. One thing that puzzles me--I am " known to be low " in DHEA but I can't take it. Everytime I do, I get worse. I imagine this is a conversion problem possibly, with the DHEA converting into hormones I'm already too high in. sol
Guest guest
Sol: Of course everyone should test their hormone levels first before taking any. Maybe I should have said that.
