Guest guest
I'm new to all this so I have some questions - but first a little about me. I'm 37, female and have been living a low carb lifestyle for a year. I've lost 50 pounds so far (tight 18 to a comfy 12.) I'm still a bit from my goal and have had my thyroid tested and was told it was " fine " . However I have a lot of symptoms - thinning hair & eyebrows, cold all the time, dry skin, raspy voice and my weight has been stuck at the same point for 6 months - even with adding exercise. I'm also somewhat tired pretty much all the time. I've been researching some natural ways to boost my thyroid even though it's medically " fine " . Coconut oil is what I came up with. I'm also trying to cut way back on soy, peanuts and other things that can effect the thyroid. What do I do with this oil? I bought organic expeller pressed coconut oil. I don't really like the taste of it so cooking with it doesn't impress me. I want to make sure I take it though so I've been melting 1 tablespoon in the morning and 1 tablespoon at night and just drinking it. ICK!!! It makes me gag. AND I woke up the other night sick as could be - vomiting and diareah. It was terrible and makes me wonder if this is worth it and if I'll get use to it. How long until I notice changes? Any other advice? Thanks, Mw

I also do not mind the taste of the oil when used in my breakfast smoothie. I use the oil for pan frying lambchops or a steak, although I hardly get much of the oil as it stays in the pan. However, I do also just take the oil on a spoon. It does not bother me in the least. I also take cod liver oil daily. Some people say they cannot abide the taste of cod liver oil, but I have never had a problem with it. I have no idea if the problem some people experience is physiological, or psychological. One thing you might do is just sniff the oil you have. Coconut oil can begin to turn rancid if the company did not remove all the water from the oil. It should have a light coconut smell, or smell like nothing at all. Any sour smell is an indication that you might want to toss the oil & try buying another jar, or another brand altogether. Guest guest
I agree with your advice on rancidity of the coconut oil if not processed right. Those who claim no heat was used, well..inmho..their oil will not be 100% waterless and can go bad quickly. Where I am > I'm new to all this so I have some questions - but first a little > about me. Guest guest
I will buy a new jar and see if it's any better. I have had this one for a while but never really cared for the taste. Does anyone ever go in to the chat room? I was in there a couple of times and was the only one. Don't really want to chat with myself mw > I agree with your advice on rancidity of the coconut oil if not processed right.
