I have not tried nature's blessings, but have tried Coconut

Supreme--and it is fantastic!! They have the best price I have found

on the smaller quanities, (though it has been almost six months since

I looked and checked, so you will want to check prices for yourself)

and Wilderness family naturals (link is in the links section) has the

same oil (called their India oil) as Coconut Supreme in larger

quanities for an excellent price in bulk. It is certified for it's

cleanliness, kosher, and organic, though by a foreign company that the

usa doesn't recognize so they are trying to certify it with another

company--which takes three years. Hope that helps! :) Caitlin Lorraine

I haven't tried COS but I had the opportunity to try a 500 ml. free sample

of Nature's Blessing and it was an excellent oil, clear as water (at our

warm tropical temperature that is) and light aroma. Made for delicious

fried eggs with a buttery taste. I would recommend it if you can get it.

I found it a bit pricey though (probably because it was bottled for export

out of the Philippines). Price was 350 pesos per 500 ml. bottle (for your

reference the current exchange rate is 56 pesos to a US Dollar). Currently

I use Prosource Extra Virgin coconut oil, good quality, reasonably priced

as 120 pesos per 250 ml bottle, and readily available at a popular

drugstore chain here called Mercury Drug.

I also found out that our family cook also knows how to make coconut oil

thorough a light heating method (turns out her family has been doing this

for ages) - made a deal with her so we now have a ready supply of home made

coconut oil as well. It's not as pristine as store bought and hardly

" virgin cold pressed " , but we use it for cooking and at least it's natural

and not chemically processed like commercial grade deodorized coconut

cooking oil.

Hi Darrell,

I've tried both oils. Coconut Oil Supreme has an excellent flavor,

very light and refreshing. Nature's Blessings was also very good,

but more pricey. I enjoyed COS much more than Tropical Traditions.

Good luck!

Spectrum makes two grades of coconut oil. One is for

cosmetic use which I do not use. The other (labeled " expeller

pressed " and " Organic " ) is just fine. I use about 1 14 ounce jar

per week. It is available locally at WholeFoods market. The may

well be better quality oils around, but Spectrum suits my needs just

fine. I use it in cooking, eating straight off the spoon, and in

smoothies.

Selina, for the sake of discussion, what is the pricing of the

virgin unrefined coconut oil shown at www.coconaturelle.com? I was

unable to locate price and shipping info on the website. Is there

a distributor in the USA? Tell us more about IFEX. Is that a

ine Food Exhibition?

Darrel,

By way of a comparison on equivalent oil, Quality First International

charges about $16 per KILO (36 ounce) jar delivered in Canada when

you buy four. That's not even the distributor cost, which will be

about 15% lower, and that's not the volume price. Looks like about $8

per pound then, delivered.

Similarly, single gallons are about $50 delivered.

I'm sure several other companies can compare on this quality of

product, which is QFI's " Virgin 2 " . QFI's best oil stands out from

the pack as the world's best because of superior all-cold extraction

methods. The virgin 2 oil has a four month or so shelf life; the

Virgin Oil De Coco Creme has at least a three year shelf life at room

temperature. Where superior flavour is desired and rancidity a

concern, this gourmet oil never fails to please.

There are only a very few companies selling this particular oil under

various names. If you want exhibition-winning oil, this is the one.

regards,

Duncan Crow
