Guest guest
Date: Tue, 20 Jun 2000 09:25:39 -0400 <AVIP@...> Subject: I have some questions Cadets Get Big Anthrax Vaccine Dose ..c The Associated Press FORT LEWIS, Wash. (AP) - Twenty-five ROTC cadets at an Army training camp were administered nearly double the proper dose of the anthrax vaccine, Army officials said Monday. Madigan Army Medical Center officials blamed the higher doses on a ``communications error.'' The vaccines were given Friday during the 2000 Advanced Camp for the Reserve Officers' Training Corps at Fort . There are few side effects associated with receiving a higher dose of the vaccine, other than soreness in the arm where the shot was administered, the medical center said in a statement. The cadets were given Tylenol and Benadryl to ease any discomfort. The cadets have since returned to training and have not complained of any adverse symptoms, Madigan spokeswoman Sharon Ayala said. Anthrax is a disease that typically afflicts animals, especially sheep and cattle. Dry anthrax spores, which can be put into weapons, can be fatal to humans when inhaled. In 1998, Defense Secretary Cohen ordered all 2.4 million active duty and reserve troops to get shots of the anthrax vaccine, starting with soldiers most likely to encounter biological warfare overseas. The vaccine has come under increasing scrutiny from lawmakers as soldiers have expressed concerns. Complaints included fevers, muscle pain and dizziness, and some members of the military have said morale was plummeting. - I would like to know why ROTC cadets are even receiving the anthrax vaccine, given the shortage of available vaccine. Are you now sending trainees to Phase 1 areas, and if so, what is the logic of that decision? I would also like an explanation of how these trainees could receive double the dose, given your failsafe system of AVIP administration. I will keep these soldiers in my prayers. I have serious concerns about their health given the poor quality of the vaccine. Why else would FDA decline to approve your latest batches? -- Blackburn
Guest guest
The answer is just plain stupidity. I don't think the military really cares about the shortage of vaccine they are currently suffering, actually it works to their benefit. If the vaccine is in people, it can't be tested for safety. > I have some questions > > > I would like to know why ROTC cadets are even receiving the anthrax > vaccine, > given the shortage of available vaccine. Guest guest
Just do the whole workout no matter how long it takes. It usually takes me about an hour to go from start to finish on UB days but about 45 on lower body days. Take your minute between sets and if you need to do the reps slower to keep or learn good form then so be it. Do it. Don't sacrifice your body with an injury just to speed up and get it done in a set time frame. debra > I have been waiting to see if anyone has had this problem or if I am just > thinking wrong. > > When I do the UBWO it says you are suppose to go no more than 46 minutes. Guest guest
In the beginning the same thing was happening to me. I was working out too hard and didn't know it - I was choosing 2 exercises for each muscle group and then doing sets of 12,10,8,6,12,12 for each of them! Then someone told me I was supposed to just do the second exercise for the last set of 12! Sometimes when I am in a hurry during the minute rests I do a different exercise since its a different muscle. I don't know if that's a good idea or not but I have to fit my workout into my lunch hour. > I have been waiting to see if anyone has had this problem or if I am just > thinking wrong. > > When I do the UBWO it says you are suppose to go no more than 46 minutes. Guest guest
Do the entire workout no matter how long it takes. Most people find that upper body takes closer to an hour. I Have Some QUESTIONS I have been waiting to see if anyone has had this problem or if I am just thinking wrong. When I do the UBWO it says you are suppose to go no more than 46 minutes. You are suppose to wait 1 minute between this and that. Well doing all this I never have time to get through everything. If I start with the end I never get to the chest or if I start with the chest I never get to the triceps. Do I need to speed up or what? I have been doing the things I miss on aerobic day just to make sure I work those areas I missed. The LBWO is no problem as there are less things to do. Anyone have some answers to help me? Thanks for everything. Pat
Guest guest
Hello all! I've sure been enjoying the abundance of information coming from this group. Many/most/all of you seem so informed. This is my first attempt at posting, so if I could ask some questions. Am I correct in assuming that the posts here are more or less sharing individual opinions? Do the moderators have special knowlege or training? I feel pretty confident that CO is pretty close to a miracle food. I found out about coconut oil first, from researching low carb eating. I've been trying to eliminate grains and sugar from my diet, because of a strong history of diabetes running in my family and I have many characteristics of the " carbohydrate addict " as well as being overweight. I wish I would have tried coconut oil before I eliminated the grains but I didn't. What is the likelihood that using coconut oil and coconut products will improve my carbohydrate metabolism sufficiently that I could add a starchy carb or two into my day? I'm a little concerned that the 'addict' in me is talking and I really shouldn't risk it, but I would welcome to have that little extra variety that a slice of bread brings. What exactly is happening when one is experiencing " detox effects? from ingesting coconut products? Another question is about coconut flour...Is this product merely very finely grated coconut? Is it made with coconut meat that has already had its fat removed? I'd like to start buying some of the cookbooks with coconut recipes...which one do you recommend I start with? What do folks do with the coconut water? How long can it be stored in the fridge? When I buy a fresh coconut from the grocery store, is it fresh as long as there is water in it and the meat is white? (I've read that there is often old coconuts being sold at the grocery store). Coconut products are expensive and they are actually a processed food, and it seems it might be better to just munch on coconuts and use the processed products just occassionally. I haven't checked out all of the files yet, but is there one with a glossary of the different coconut products available? Just some thoughts, thanks in advance for any input!
