My mother was convinced that her smoking would not hurt her. By age

60, many of her younger relatives who smoked looked up to her with

admiration because she seemed immune to the dangers of smoking. I

could see the negative effects of her smoking, but none of the smokers

wanted to hear about how my mother had very poor circulation in hands

and feet, which made her arthritis far worse. Her taste buds were

shot, so she over-salted everything, made coffee which was double

sterength, etc. My mother eventually got lung cancer, and it killed

her. Her family was extremely long-living. She had relatives who

were busy and active at over 100. So smoking probably cut her life

short by close to 20 years.

I agree, why would anyone bother to eat healthy, take VCO and other natural

remedies and then smoke??? It is just contrary to everything.

AND I don’t believe for a minute that all the free radicals and sucking out

all your vitamins from smoking can be overcome by a positive mind set.

Having a positive mind set can and will help – but just think how much

better your life would be without smoking………talk about healthy!!!

My mother died of lung cancer at 61……….she looked good, was active – but had

been told for 15 yrs to quit – she just never thought it would be her…………she

missed seeing her grandchildren grow up, graduate, get married and have

their own children………what a waste!!!!!

And of course it is just not lung cancer – smoking is putting a poison in

your body – if affects ALL aspects of your body………

I going to hop on the other side of the fence here. My dad is 80, smokes

like a chimney. Even though his father died of lung cancer, Dad wont quit.

BUT one thing he does is eat right. Ive never seen a man with dentures eat a

nearly raw diet before but he does! He eats vegetables by the bowl, eats a

little cook meat nightly. Loves to make his own pot of chili (with hot red

peppers I might add). He just had his check up at the VA hospital and the Drs

told me " We dont know what he is doing right but keep him doing it. " They are

so amazed with his health. Clear lungs, good strength, passed his heart

tests with ease, thin build, etc. So making sure you eat well while smoking

could most certainly help, especially Coconut oil. Not everyone is ready to

quit smoking and we need to be kind while encouraging them to do the best they

can. If you asked dad why he smokes he would say he enjoys it. I dont

understand, especially after watching his father die by lung cancer, but its

the

way he sees things. I wish I could beat him over the head for the fear we

have felt for his lungs over the years, but we as adults make our own choices.

I think of the people who dont smoke but say, color their hair (the scalp is

super vascular and absorbes what chemicals are placed on it) or drive new

cars (they say a new car is one of the most toxic environments we spend time

in), we are surrounded with toxins and eating well is one of the best ways to

TRY to ward off toxic problems. Susie

My point was that if she can overcome anything with mind over matter why

wouldn't you do it with smoking? then I began to wrtie and went on about why

would you keep smaokingjust because you enjoy it , especailly when you make it

sound like it would be so easy to stop .Another thing about smaoking that I

always hated was I smelled. stunk like a cigarette not my favorite odor.hugs Jo

EVERYONE knows of the dangers of smoking.

Leave the woman alone, for goodness sakes.

For what it's worth (no I am not a smoker, but used to

be) I have several relatives who smoked or do smoke

full strength, unfiltered butts and live/lived

HEALTHILY into their 80s. Who knows????

I think it is very rude you to say " why would anyone bother to eat healthy,

take VCO and other natural remedies and then smoke? " Everyone on this list is

trying to travel a road to better health, it is not your place to continually

harp on someone elses journey and make them feel like they really don't belong

with all you pure people...

Apparently she does not want to. It is her choice. We should

accept that and move on.
