Guest guest
I have a 4 year old achon and I was grappling with the same question about a house with stairs. Unfortunately, we live in an area (White Plains, NY) where there are very few ranches. Given that we didn't have many ranches to choose from, my main consideration was 'how steep were the stairs' to the second story, to the basement, and to the attic (if there was one). Fortunately, we did find a house where the stairs really weren't too bad, although I had eliminated many houses based on the stairs being too steep. The only thing we are planning on doing is adding on lower handrails to all the stairwells. However, the only potential issue is that my daughter likes to carry her toys (some quite large and heavy) up and down the stairs. It is difficult for her sometimes, and as I see it, dangerous, especially if it prevents her from holding on to the handrails. So, all in all, I would recommend no stairs, if that is an option for you. I also have a question for everyone. We have a small bedroom for our 2 girls. We are thinking of bunk beds to make for more playing room, although we can fit 2 regular beds on the floor. My husband is really for it, but I am afraid that my little daughter, even though she will get the bottom bunk, will want to climb up to the top bed to play. I am afraid of her being more likely to fall off because of her having smaller limbs and being somewhat top heavy. Her balance, however, tends to be very good. My husband does not share the same concern, but then he always tells me I worry too much, and I always tell him he worries too little (sound familiar?). Does anyone have any advice or experience with bunk beds? Thanx, Marcie (mother of , 4 year old achon).
