But seriously - the phenomenon that was seriously studied pertains to the French penchant for consuming plenty of fat in the form of butter, and cheese, and olive oil and yet having less heart attacks than Americans. The phenomenon is known as the " French Paradox " and had doctors asking what is it about the French? Is it the garlic? The wine? The snails? The truffles? The sex? And neither did they develop heart disease. They died of plain old age. There must be something very wrong with that finding.
