I have been taking vitamin d 50,000 a week now down to once a month that's quite

the differance in how much a day. but I have been feeling better over all, excpt

for my 5 week cold that last a good week. just when i feel better i get sick

again. :( but the aches and pains and rls has been a lot better. Can't wait to

get the gazzel to help even more. my thyroid doc thinks all his patients have a

vitamin d problem. esp where we live in the cold for about half the year. i

don't think we get vd till march sometime. I guess because of the angle we get

the sun we can't make vitamin d?

Here is more vitamin E info from Iodine list.

Vitamin D, Sunshine, and Your HealthIf you totally avoid the sun,

recent research indicates you need about 4,000 units of vitamin D a

day! Which means you can't get enough vitamin D from milk (unless you

drink 40 glasses a day) or from a multivitamin (unless you take about

10 tablets a day), neither of which is recommended.

Most of us make about 20,000 units of vitamin D after about 20 minutes

of summer sun. This is about 100 times more vitamin D than the

government says you need every day.

The only way to be sure you have adequate levels of vitamin D in your

blood is to regularly go into the sun, use a sun bed (avoiding

sunburn), or have your physician administer a 25-hydroxy vitamin D

blood test. Optimal levels are around 50 ng/mL (125 nM/L).

If you don't get vitamin D the way Mother Nature intended, from

sunshine, you need to take supplemental vitamin D3 cholecalciferol.

Since most of us get a lot more vitamin D from sunshine than we

realize, most of us need about 2,000 units a day extra.

Also because people wear a lot more clothes in cold weather. Not

often I saw a gal in a bikini on the ski slopes when I lived up North.

When there is lots of fresh white snow, lots of sun, and no wind it

can get pretty warm. I never got into skiing but I have heard

stories of some people skiing nude away from the more public ski

areas. Of course if a wind comes up or it gets cloudy or the sun

goes down, it is best to have warm clothes handy in one's backpack.
