well i have as slew of info ( not online though IAm sure I could find it) that

negates these statements this is not a fad or just a juice, everyone has thier

favorites or their likes and dislikes, but that doesn't mean it doesn't work,

it's just like diets. what works for one won't work for another. that is why

there are so many different ways of eating.

[lists] Re: Mangosteen

Ralph Moss calls Mangosteen expensive fruit juice, and I tend to

agree. Fruit juice taken regularly does tend to help many

ailments because of the antioxidant content.

Mangosteen networkers, particularly Xango networkers, tend to

associate the product with a test tube study that showed cancer

reduction, which as Dr. Moss points out doesn't translate to real

life, in-vivo work.

There are Mangosteen juices that have 11 times the manostins that

Xango has in any case, for the same price.

The short answer it that's it's another fad antioxidant-rich

food, and you're better off with undenatured whey, which contains

NECESSARY antioxidant components and HAS been shown to reduce

cancer in humans in in-vivo studies. The data is on this page:

Stuck,

Beware of " infomation " coming from people selling a particular product

unless it is backed up with real life scientific studies. Yes, we

do have different needs, but there are snake oild salesmen who make

all sorts of health claims for their products.

yes i am not dumb, this isn't word of mouth, and y ou can find a lot of junk on

anything you want to, or good. it depends on your view. I mean look at religion.

just as an example i don't wantto go there, just tht there a lot of different

views on the same thing. some views work for person A but person Z doesn't agree

at all. no matter what the issue. :)

Thanks for the warning but not needed. I do believe Mangosteen helps a lot of

ailments, i am ot sure about the xango juice. why mix it with a bunch of other

stuff?

To me, Duncan is a very good example of someone who sells products AND

gives loads of links to research materials to back up what he says.

When I first bumped into Duncan, some years ago, on another list, I

admit I was supicious. I had bumped into so many people selling

things with little or no value, or which are (imo) grossly overpriced.

But I read Duncan's posts and his website. Separating the wheat

from the chaff is a something I do daily in my quest for better health

as I age.

I looked at the references Duncan gave. Over time, my suspicions were

laid to rest. I came to both trust and greatly appreciate what Duncan

does and the ways in which he shares his knowledge.

I don't use a lot of supplement products which Duncan sells, mainly

because I lack the money to buy them. But I do copy useful health,

diet, and supplement information so I have the information handy when

I need to look something up to give to a friend who is having health

problems, or for when I have a little free cash which enables me to

try a new supplement. I already spend over $10/day on many different

supplements, so adding more is not something I feel I can do without a

great amount of consideration.

Some other sellers of supplements have websites which are mainly

" testimonials " from users which may, or may not, be based in

scientific fact. Some sites which are selling a product cite

research done on cell samples in a testube or petri plate (in-vitro

testing). While this can point the direction for further

exploration, it may or may not apply to living breathing human beings.

Testing the product on live subjects (in-vivo testing) is needed

before any real claims can be made as to how effective a product may

be. The sites which lose credibility, IMO, are the sites which make

all sorts of claims about a product based upon in-vitro testing, with

no in-vivo studies to back them up.

And yet, sometimes even those sites based in testimonials or in-vitro

based health claims contain useful information which nudge me to try

that particular supplement. MSM is a good example. I tried MSM.

It really helped my arthritis. So I keep using it, even though the

people I buy from have a website which is leaded down with personal

testimonials and editorial comments by the man who started the

website. See here:

You mean like Duncan? Every opportunity he is promoting SomaLife or

whey. Why should we believe him over others? Can't you get

Glutathione from eating lots of green veg? Do we really need to buy

whey? Yet another product we would have to buy on a regular basis

because apparently we can't do without it!

I agree. Duncan and I have been emailing over some of my problems. If

he was trying to sell something he would insist on me buying the

product he recomends. But he doesnt. and anything he does,he does so

because of evidence..nothing else. I live in Australia and shipping to

here is a pain esp from the US. So I tell him what I can get and then

he says that it should be like this or that to be effective. He isnt

trying to sell anything only share what he knows...and for no money.

How many people really share these days ? Not many, thats for shore.
