I don't want to go and look for my tests but memory tells me, oh I'd better go

and find the test or I'll never give you the correct information.

Okay, the Vitamin D Metabolites Test - My 25 Hydroxy Vitamin D was normal but my

1,25 Hydroxy Vitamin D test was HIGH and because of this I have to AVOID all

Vitamin D of any kind in my diet, stay out of the Sun and wear INFRARED

shielding Sunglasses to help me get this level down.

Apparently this is quite a common condition that needs to be addressed (using

the above protocol) but very few doctors ever order this test.

Re: Can't Get Vitamin D Levels Up

I called a medical staff to inquire about the fact that my

naturopathic doctor orders the test D 1, 25 Di Hydroxy, and I asked

if that was the best test for testing vitamin D levels.

Well, it turns out that many doctors *think* that is the best test

but actually it is the best test to test for a number of diseases and

to test for kidney function, but does not acurrately test vitamin D

levels. So here for many months my NP has been increasing *by huge

amounts* the vitamin D for me to take (and for the past 3 1/2 months

has had me on over 10,000 iu per day). But the fact that the D 1, 25

Di Hydroxy test going *lower* meant that my *kidney function was

going lower* - from TOO MUCH vitamin D. In other words I am probably

in vitamin D toxidity. Too much vitamin D can also affect the

parathyroid glands, and so that is likely the reason my thyroid

function dropped a couple of months ago, and my endo told me I was

probably having parathyroid problems. Also, my skin and eyes have

been getting slightly yellow the last few weeks, and this is probably

from vitamin D toxidity. All this because my NP has been ordering the

WRONG test, and dosing my vitamin D occording to the WRONG TEST!!!

I have been so upset this afternoon that I was just trembling. Yes it

may be common error that doctors order the wrong test, but it is

still incompetence, and it is still MY organs that end up damaged!!!

So, I went and ordered the RIGHT test through Life Extension, by the

time I get the test, then get the results it will be about 2 weeks

from now. Then I will really know what is going on with my vitamin D

levels. Meantime I am stopping ALL vitamin D supplementation.

If I didn't have a computer to research this stuff my doctors would

have killed me by know with all their mistakes!

Oh, by the way, the correct test for accurate testing of vitamin D

levels is the 25 Hydroxy test - NOT the 1, 25 Di Hydroxy test.

Yes, the 1,25 Hydroxy Vitamin D was high because I have intracellular bacteria

and/or Viruses from having Mono, Pneumonia, Hepatitis, Chicken Pox and probably

more, many years ago. It's so complicated but because of these Viruses etc., I

have Th1 Inflammatory Disease and I'm still not understanding it all but there

is a website, where this is all explained.

Re: Can't Get Vitamin D Levels Up

Bonnie,

Did they ever tell you what health condition was making your 1,25

DiHydroxy be elevated? Or did you ever do a search to find out why

yours may be elevated?
