Whatever would make you associate getting acne with coconut

oil? Bad press from people of ill intention?

I associated coconut oil with acne because when I started eating tons

of olive oil one time in the past (before learning about coconut

oil), I got the same problem. I quit the olive oil intake and it

stopped. I realize olive oil is mainly monounsaturated oil and

coconut oil is saturated but both are fatty acids nonetheless. That's

where the association came from.

No, it's not from anything I read or heard. Just from experience. I

have never been a low fat, or a margerine type, but I have never been

taking oil by multiple tablespoons either.

My skin has worsened a little recently but I'm not sure whether it's

from putting VCO on my face occasionally. I don't usually use any

moisturizer as I've always been prone to acne. Washing with VCO-based

cleanser leaves my skin feeling great but I've also been getting more

clogged pores. It may be for some other reason though.

Thank you everyone for the responses. I guess some of us have the

oily skin and a little extra oil can cause acne. I lowered my coconut

oil intake from 3TBS to 1TBS and now my skin erruptions hsave stopped

and the general bumpy feeling on my face is getting better too. I am

still applying some VCO to my arms and legs (I guess I am oily/dry

type; my face is normally oily, but the rest of my body is pretty

dry.)

I believe I am still getting the benefits from the VCO (energy wise)

so, so far so good.

There are many causes of acne(I'm an esthetician). Don't attribute a

break out to coconut oil. If anything, I believe it will help acne.

This time of year I caution people to make sure they have their

humidifiers running because the air is quite dry even at winter winds

down(I've found dry air contributes to acne formation). Drink half

your weight in ounces of water. Cleanse at least once a day at

bedtime. Eat healthful foods. Reduce exposure to toxins. Acne will

improve. Do not pick at your skin-it will only worsen acne.
