Guest guest
, if coconut oil is putting weight on you, then you must be doing something else that's interfering with the CO. I've been taking it since January, and I'm down over 30 lbs. I have never read anything about CO causing weight GAIN, only weight LOSS. Try to analyze what else you're doing that might be causing the weight gain. Are you still consuming trans fats, also known as hydrogenated vegetable oil? Are you eating foods with High Fructose Corn Syrup in it? How about artificial sweeteners? These are all things that could be affecting your weight. Something to think about, anyway, and maybe look into. Cryss I have been using coconut > > > oil for about a month, I've lost 12 pounds so > > > far (a deck chair off the Titanic!). Guest guest
Actually, I haven't made any other changes. I eat a raw food diet, I work out, I teach yoga, these are all things I've done for years. I've added the C.O, more for the energy, than anything else. I bought a very good quality, organic V.C, but aside from the small changes in the hair, skin and nails, the only other thing it offered me was extra weight. Which struck me as odd too, because everything I've ever read about it, says it should help you lose it if anything. That was enough for me to stop taking it. Although I'm not over weight now, I really didn't want the extra pounds. lol. Strange tho. that it did that to me, but I've only heard of a handful of other people who put on weight while on it, and the majority seems to lose. Guest guest
Lucky you, I wish it did that for me. I would love to keep taking it because it did have some benifits, but I just don't want any extra weight on me. . Guest guest
I wonder.. I only eat around 1900 calories a day tho. Mind you, I was taking 3 tablespoons of the VCO. I wonder if that was just too much?. [coconut_oil_ open_forum] Weight and Coconut oil > > > > > >>I have been reading about gaining weight using Coconut Oil. Guest guest
I eat about 2200 calories a day. I am close to 63 years old, don't do a lot of strenuous work or exercise (other than grocery shopping once every 2 weeks), 6 feet tall, 180 pounds. I use 2-3 tablespoons of vco per day. Guest guest
Well, I guess, , you're one of the " one-in-a-million " for whom CO has the opposite effect of everyone else. Perhaps it's because you're already eating a healthy diet, so there isn't anything to " correct, " like in other people. Who knows? And maybe it was only a temporary effect. Maybe, after awhile, it would stop doing that. Again, who knows? If you're interested in something helping with energy, have you checked out the benefits of vitamin B-12? I've always heard it's supposed to help give people extra energy. I haven't tried it, so I don't know how true it is. Maybe that might work for you. Maybe look into that. Guest guest
Usually, 3 tbsps is the recommended dosage. But, maybe in your case, it was too much. Maybe you could try again with only 1 or 2 tbsps and see what happens. Guest guest
Exactly which brand of Oil did you buy...there are quite a few out there that claim they are VCO, but really do use a lot of methods that are not that good. I noticed a big difference with the Viviendo Oil versus TT's oil - my metabolism increased more with the Viviendo. I had bought some Spectrum oil at the HFS some years back, I gained weight too. But now I seem to be losing slowly. SeaLady
Guest guest
Do not know. I had my friend pick it up in the ines. variety. My weight is steady. I just do not have the super cravings KC <kaylee4848@...> wrote: Exactly which brand of Oil did you buy...there are quite a few out there that claim they are VCO, but really do use a lot of methods that are not that good. Guest guest
I have found Nutiva brand VCO to be pretty good for me. You're right, SeaLady, about there being so many different kinds of VCO, and some of the lesser-quality versions don't work the same way as the " good " stuff. The kind you preferably want, provided you can afford the higher price, is the organically-grown, non-GMO, cold-pressed Virgin Coconut Oil. The Nutiva brand I have been getting, lately, from Whole Foods, fits those qualifications. The versions that are not so great for you, are the expeller- pressed, and definitely the RBD versions, which stands for Refined, Bleached, and Deodorized. Those are usually used just as cooking oils, especially for people who don't like the taste of coconut. I have also heard Viviendo's oil is one of the best you can take. I think Spectrum is one of the brands that makes the RBD version, which is still ok, but won't help to raise metabolism like you need to help with weight loss. So check what kind of oil you were taking that caused you to gain weight. And maybe, if you can get some of the Viviendo oil, or even the Nutiva brand I've got, it will work better for you. Guest guest
Cryss: I just had a comment about something you said below here. The RBD version of the Coconut Oil, while not preferable to use, will STILL raise your Metabolism and give you all the same benefits as the good oil. Apparently all the refining does not change that.
