Guest guest
Check the archives. Lots of posts from people who experienced wedight loss. I lost about 90 pounds over two years. But not just by adding coconut oil to a crap diet. I get rid of most all carbs, and most all oils except for olive oil, coconut oil, animal fat and butter. Over the years I have met many people who are NOT grossly overweight who want to lose more and more weight. This culture is obsessed with women being scrawney. Below is a comedy video entitles " A Fat Rant. " For the most part I agree with it. However, when some supposed statistics are quoted which say that most people who diet re-gain their weight within 3 years, that sure seems spurious to me. Diet has two definitions in this culture. a) diet is the food one eats to lose weight, which one then puts aside when one has lost weight. diet is what one eats 7 days a week, 365 days a year, for the rest of one's life. If one chooses a diet one can live with all the time, the weight does not come back. I lost 90 pounds 3 years ago. This winter I gained back 10 pounds because money was real tight and I could not afford all of the foods I know are good for me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUTJQIBI1oA & eurl=about%3Ablank Alobar On 3/23/07, Lori F <tomah82@...> wrote: > I have been reading about gaining weight using Coconut Oil. Guest guest
I have been using coconut oil for about a month, I've lost 12 pounds so far (a deck chair off the Titanic!). Guest guest
, Happy you have lost 12 pds. How have you changed the way you eat? It might help me and others to know that. Guest guest
I have cut down on carbs and most especially serving sizes. I weigh & measure foods now and I can easily see how much *TOO MUCH* food I had been eating before. I cut out grazing all day, every day and stick to 3 meals & 1 snack. With coconut oil, I have more energy, so I move around a lot more than I used to. Plus, I'm not as hungry, so it is easier for me to refuse the foods that in the past I just stuffed into my mouth without even thinking. I love the taste of coconut oil in my morning oatmeal and I'm always trying to find foods that I can put it in so I can have 2 servings of VCO a day. IMHO, it is awful in coffee, chili and by the spoonful out of the jar. But I love it in tomato rice soup, mixed with peanut butter (to eat with celery, banana or crackers) and in oatmeal. If anyone has more suggestion as to how to get the VCO in, I'd love to hear them. I have joined OA (a 12 step program for compulsive overeaters). Every day I decide what I will eat, write it all down and call another OA member & tell it to her. I haven't told her about the coconut oil, though. I wanted to see how it worked first ;-) Having someone to be accountable to makes a big difference to me. I am making a commitment to eat exactly as I've planned. It is really easier to plan ahead because the decisions are all made for the day & I don't need to think about it again. I just follow what I've committed to. BTW, I am FAR from perfect in doing this. It's a learning process. I have days when I mess up big time. My goals are to learn how to eat normal portions and how to NOT eat continuously all day. I have not arrived (as I said, I've lost a deck chair...) But I am beginning to finally change my eating habits and take better care of myself. And the weight less has begun :-) I'm still waiting for the softer skin & hair from VCO. But so far, so good. I'm very happy with VCO and I'm going to keep eating it! Blessings! B God Bless America! Guest guest
Hi , Good for you! I'm not trying to be too personal, but do you have a lot of weight to lose? I have about 50 pounds to lose and am trying to learn as much as I can about adding coconut oil to my diet and changing the way I eat in general. Thanks and keep up the good work, Chris Re: Weight and Coconut oil > I have been using coconut oil for about a month, I've lost 12 pounds so > far (a deck chair off the Titanic!). Guest guest
I started this journey about 90 lbs. overweight. :-( B God Bless America! One Nation Under God. Guest guest
Here's what I love and everyone will probably cringe. Warm whole grain toast, with lots of VCO then topped with Nutella. Guest guest
I also spread VCO on crackers, top with a very small amount of nice extra extra sharp Vt Cheddah and it is delish!!! I also make my own nut butter with tonbs of oil in it - spread the cracker with VCO and then the nut butter - makes a great and easy snack. I also use that nutbutter on my toast and celery. And of course the chocolate candy!!! I put in on all my veggies too, especially good on corn on the cob. I cut winter squash in slices, sprinkled VCO over them, then some pumpkin spice - baked at 45 for about 15 min. then a little bit more VCO, some honey and a little bit on sea salt - fantastic!!!! I served it to family members and they also loved it. I love it > in tomato rice soup, mixed with peanut butter (to eat with celery, banana or > crackers) and in oatmeal. Guest guest
I'm not sure if these food ideas have been mentioned because I haven't been reading all the posts but I love to use my VCO on brown rice. My favorite for breakfast is an Ezekial english muffin spread with VCO and cruncy peanut butter - yummm - love it. I also pop popcorn in it. I read somewhere about drizzling it over popped popcorn but I haven't tried that yet. Sue
Guest guest
I use about a Tbl of VCO with a a little butter in the frying pan to sautee mushrooms and onions on high heat. I than add chunks of imitation crab (chicken, shrimp or whatever you like) and sautee until done. It's a clean, tropical taste that I just LOVE! Guest guest
I try to get in 2-3 Tbsp. a day. There are a lot of ideas of foods to put it in from the past 4 days of posts. I just keep trying it in different things to see how I like it. Other people will like it in things I don't & vice/ versa. I LOVE it in my oatmeal (with cinnamon). B God Bless America! Guest guest
Don't you mind the extra weight it puts on you ?. As good as some of the benifits are (noticably softer hair and longer nails and improved skin), I hate the extra weight it has given me. Guest guest
You are eating too many calories. With the coconut oil total calories should be about 2000. I take 2 tablespoons of coconut oil 20 minutes before I eat. Then when you do eat your meal you will not eat as much because you get full fast. So that is 600 calories of just the oil and about 1400 calories of nutrient dense whole foods. I have been using coconut > > > oil for about a month, I've lost 12 pounds so > > > far (a deck chair off the Titanic!). Guest guest
It's not putting extra weight on me. I have lost 12 lbs since I started it a little over a month ago. I am very over weight to begin with. Maybe, if you don't need to lose weight, you don't. Maybe our bodies do with the VCO what we need. I can't explain it, don't understand it...but I'm happy with all the results of using VCO at this point. :-) B God Bless America! One Nation Under God. Guest guest
, if coconut oil is putting weight on you, then you must be doing something else that's interfering with the CO. I've been taking it since January, and I'm down over 30 lbs. I have never read anything about CO causing weight GAIN, only weight LOSS. Try to analyze what else you're doing that might be causing the weight gain. Are you still consuming trans fats, also known as hydrogenated vegetable oil? Are you eating foods with High Fructose Corn Syrup in it? How about artificial sweeteners? These are all things that could be affecting your weight. Something to think about, anyway, and maybe look into. Cryss I have been using coconut > > > oil for about a month, I've lost 12 pounds so > > > far (a deck chair off the Titanic!).
