heart burn/coconut oil

Yes I have been suffering with heartburn/indigestion

for a couple of weeks now. I don't know whether it is

the coconut oil but it seems rather suspicious that it

came on after I'd increased the amount of oil I was

having. I'm not sure whether this is the " die-off "

I've heard so much about. I've stopped having oil for

now and am going to wait for my stomach to die down

before trying it again in small doses!

stomache) but when I put it in my hot oatmeal it's ok .

Hi there,

I've got a NASTY LITTLE SECRET for you! One you may or my NOT have heard of

befor......First off, I'd like to tell you that the coconut oil probably is NOT

the problem!!!!! In MOST cases...I may need some help from the other forum

folks...but Heart burn is usually caused by not having enough digestive enzymes

in your system. And I'm SORRY, I can't remember exactly how it all works, but

taking rolaids and the like, make the problem worse by changing your systems PH.

Sorry I can't pin it down any better...I've read about it in one of the books

that I've acquired. Alot of people take Papaya tabs after meals(MY Grandmother

was one of them), but Multi-enzyme suppliments, are realitively inexpensive, and

taken after meals, are quite effective in resolving heartburn problems!(I think

that papaya is too.) One point that I DO remember is that you are supposed to

take them AFTER you eat!!! If you take them on an empty stomach they convince

your system that there's more than enough enzymes to take care of the job, and

you body produces LESS!! Which would likely give you MORE heartburn!

I'm not sure if I've explained this well...I hope that other forum readers may

be able to say it better...but, look into some supplimenting of digestive

enzymes...

Maybe you're thinking about hypochlorhydria, a condition of not

enough stomach acid; it results in heartburn and GERD (reflux)

which is a vomit response that is triggered when the stomach is

not acid enough to discharge into the intestine.

The cure is a few betaine HCl or glutamic acid capsules with

meals; it may take three or four to make the pH low enough to

effect.

When I first started using coconut oil, it really irritated my throat.

Then I read that if not all the water has been removed, coconut oil

can have this effect as it begins to go rancid.

I changed brands of coconut oil, and the problem went away.

My heartburn stopped after I stopped eating sugar and starch.

It could also have been the weight I lost, too, but there was a low

carb cereal that always gave me heartburn. So there was some grain

that set it off.

Cheers.

Dear Alobar,

Yes your right. The first sign of the oil going rancid is what we call

" itchiness " in the throat or " catch in the throat " ...if you encounter this kind

of oil again, just throw this away or use it for your oil lamps. This is no

longer advised even for topical application.

The company I had bought the defective oil from tried to convince me

that there was nothing wroing with their oil and I should keep using

the oil I had. That is the main reason I won't use any of their

products.
