Guest guest
Hi again, First let me apologise for not trimming my posts. I will do better from now on. My mother has just come to live with us in The Philippines and Mel's mother has been gently rubbing VCO through her hair every day. Mum is 86 and her hair was almost white, but since the VCO treatment it has definitely started to darken considerably. Some hairs have actually turned black. She calls it a miracle and spends hours in front of a mirror. Regular applications of VCO are also helping to lighten her liver spots. Guest guest
Hi Steve, I hadn’t heard about this effect of coconut oil, of darkening hair, any idea of the mechanism of action? Also, how long does your mother leave it in her hair? We also live with my 87 year old mother-in-law. We threw out all the other lotions and potions and just use VCO on her skin and it is wonderfully soft and supple, but have never put it on her hair. Guest guest
Hi , I have read Dr. Fife's books a few times, but for some reason I forgot this sentence. " In The Philippines, it has been observed that women who live in rural communities and still use coconut oil, keep their beautiful dark hair even into old age " . When my mother arrived in The Philippines, having travelled from the UK, she suffered terribly with jetlag. She hadn't been out of the UK for around 40 years, so a journey that far really was hard for her. Mel's mother comforted her by massaging her body and hair with VCO. After a couple of weeks, we noticed the hair on her temples had darkened considerably. This was the area of the head which had been massaged the most. Her eyebrows also now have a large number of black hairs, where previously they were almost totally white. We continue to massage VCO gently into mum's hair daily. It is left on until she has her hair washed. Mel tells me her grandmother put " lana " (coconut oil) on her hair every night before going to bed. Even in her nineties, you could count the grey hairs on her head. Guest guest
> > > Question: You use vco to shampoo her hair? > Hi, twnsnd_jnt (Janet) here, I am interested in using VCO on my hair, however, I am highly susceptable to heat rash. I would like to leave it on overnight, but can imagine a head full of rash in the morning and for some time after. Doesn't the oil make the head very hot from a sealing of the scalp? I have experienced a darkening of my hair since I started taking extra B vitamins for my Diabetic Neuropathy. Also, since I started taking VCO internally, it seems I have even more hair. I had thinning of hair from low thyroid, Synthroid for two years helped, but now, with VCO, it's even thicker. Thank you all for sharing. Guest guest
Hi all and especially to Steve - I have been using VCO for quite a while now, on my skin and a few times on my hair - I went gray very early due to being hypo and going un-dx'd for years. I would simple love to stop/slow down the gray and or get some darker hair back - I go to have my hair colored every 3 weeks like clock work - since the gray is soooooo bad, and my hair grows so fast now on armour.... I would like to know more about this - how much oil are you putting on your head/hair - just scalp or are you putting it on enough to saturate all the hair??? How long are you leaving it on??? How soon did you start to see results??? SeaLady
Guest guest
Sealady, ?Have you looked into Blackstrap Molasses also? I heard some people have good luck with slowing grey down/reversing it. ?Warning- women post-menopause need to be careful not to get too much Iron, which is in BM. Laurie ? I know God will not give me anything I can't handle. I just wish that He didn't trust me so much. ~Mother ~ ________________________________________________________________________ AOL now offers free email to everyone. Guest guest
Would the Blackstrap Molasses be for internal or external use? To help the hair I think you mean on the hair, correct? What if a natural blonde, and the hair turns white with aging, wouldn't the molasses turn the hair dark? Thanks, Beverly StillNaked@... wrote: Sealady, ?Have you looked into Blackstrap Molasses also? Guest guest
Hi KC and all, The only parts of mum's scalp that get a regular application of oil, are the temples. This is because we massage her forehead with VCO. As I mentioned, there is a definite darkening of her hair, but it is most obvious on the temples, probably because there has been a greater application to that area. There is also some regrowth of black hair in those areas. We don't actually apply any oil to the rest of her scalp, we just rub it gently through her hair. I would not say we saturate the hair by any means, we only use a small amount. The oil is absorbed very quickly, so much so, she hardly realises it has been applied. I guess we could take things a little further and increase the amount, possibly rubbing it into the scalp as well. I am not sure she would enjoy that though. Although she is delighted with the results, and keeps looking in the mirror, the colour of her hair was not our, (or her), primary concern, when we first started applying the VCO. We leave the oil on the hair until she has her hair washed. As I mentioned, it is absorbed very quickly, so there is no reason to wash it out. We first noticed the darkening after 10 days to two weeks. Of course, it may have been made more obvious because her hair was virtually white, so any black hair certainly stands out. Hope this helps.
