Guest guest Posted December 28, 2006 Report Share Posted December 28, 2006 Like most seed oils, sunflower oil is high in LA (linoleic acid, ca. 65%), the omega-6 essential fatty acid that leads to inflammation through the arachidonic acid pathway. Essential LA is, in small amounts, but nearly everyone gets too much of it. Seeds contain nutrition but even so, I suggest reducing seeds as nutrition sources, or at least consider the omega-6 imbalance that you might be adding to by using seeds as more than a small snack, as seeds are very high in oil. Linoleic acid also competes with the EFA alpha-linolenic acid in flax oil which is supposed to be converting to EPA and DHA and does so only in tiny amounts under good conditions. On your whey concern, make sure the whey is cold-processed, and if you have casein or lactose issues, low in those components. You probably won't react with muscle testing for two reasons; it's unreliable, and whey is well tolerated by mammals anyway as you might expect. The notion that whey contains too much calcium is false. A 36- gram scoop of the one I have here provides just 11% of the daily value for calcium. There is a lot of protein in whey, and that's a good point for using it for lean tissue gain; in fact it's recommended in the PDR to reverse cachexia. Whey protein is different from other proteins in that it is readily assimilated with almost no digestion, produces no urea loading on the kidneys, and it is unique among proteins in that it is alkalizing. A lot of people don't know the difference, so parrot off popular myth that lumps this protein's attributes with meat, when there are few similarities and great differences. On many discussion groups, myths such as that one are nothing more than a fiber source Your best way to generate lean tissue if you can't exercise is HGH therapy along with the whey and selenium. Regardless of the absence of exercise, you'd have the necessary HGH, presumably the micronutrients, and the protein. That being said, because carbs push HGH low, forcing the body back into fat-storage mode, your high-carb meal should be the noon or afternoon one and keep it lean in the AM and PM when HGH levels are at their highest, to maximize lean tissue regeneration.
