Guest guest
Most people only see Atkins as a person who sold a diet. But the fact is Atkins explains why people are addicted to carbs and how this is connected to our health problems. Its the isolated diet of refined carbs over such a long period of time of many generations... its damaged our DNA. So his diet was designed to help kick the addiction with its results on our health. Ive seen his research on this and I think what he says is true. Can someone who is addicted to something see why they are ? And then there is the diet that is the cheapest to live with...so what do people do...unless they educate themselves. And since we live in a world destroyed/run by money, will a view that challenges commerce be excepted ? Its just easier to go along and die younger than we have to. Its disgusting !! . Guest guest
I have been on Atkins for 4 years. I also borderline on the Protein Power and paleo dietary lifestyles. My body is finally normal. Cholesterol is grat, triglycerides are great blood glucose is great. I was having female problems which have been helped by incorporating intermittent fasting. My body is responding better to exercise also. I am learning to let my body speak to me and tell me what is good for it. Guest guest
And what do we do if all the food we can get is shipped in from South America or China and has lost all of the good stuff (nutrients) that it is suppose to have that keeps our health good? Even if we know what we should eat -- is the food we are getting good? thea And then there is the diet that is the cheapest to live with...so what do people do...unless they educate themselves.. Guest guest
Hi Suzzi, I will explain how I do it. I will tell you my results then I will post a study on this subject. I fast for 20 hours then I eat 2 big meals and one snack in during a 4 - 6 hour window. I feel that the first meal of the day is the meal that breaks the fast. Even if I don't eat until 2:00 in the afternoon that meal is my breakfast so I make sure that it is a healthy low carb breakfast. I prefer to call it my first meal of the day, now. Today, for example, I will have a piece of steak, and egg and an avococado salad. Blueberries, walnuts and low carb yogurt will be my snack. Then dinner will be a healthy protein meal ( chicken, mustard greens, cheesy cauliflower ). I won't eat again until 2:00 PM tomorrow. I worked myself up to that schedule. I couldn't do it right off the bat. I managed to lose a couple of pounds. My insulin seems stable, I have had no insulin spikes. Most importantly, my periods have been lighter and shorter. They used to last for about 6 days with 4 heavy days. Now my periods are 5 days. here is a study on the subject . You can find more by doing a search for intermittent fasting. I hope that is posts. Guest guest
I'm curious. Do you drink coffee when " fasting " . I think I might persuade my husband to give this intermittent fasting a try but he won't go without his coffee. -Patty > > I have been on Atkins for 4 years. Guest guest
Patty, yes I continue to drink my coffee in th morning. I go to a forum on this topic and most who drank coffee before doing the fast continue having their AM cuppa joe. I try not to be too anal about how I do this because of my age.I stick within my comfort zone. But, I eat 2 meals a day now. Before, when I ate breakfast 1st thing in the morning I would eat lunch 4 hours later then I would eat another meal 4 hours after lunch. THEN, I would eat dinner. That adds up to 4 meals a day plus small intermittent snacks.I recall, back-in-the-day, when I would go for hours without eating simply because I wasn't hungry. I was much younger then but my health was fine plus I was skinny. Too skinny actually. Remember when you begin IFing, let your body talk for you. The first day will be difficult so plan on how long you will go before your first meal. If you can't go as long as planned eat when you feel that you can't stand it any longer. My first time, I had planned on eating at 1:00, I ended up eating at noon. But to do it again, I think that I should have eaten at 11:00. Keep in mind, intermittent fasting has pretty much the same calorie intake. You just eat less often. I think that I really eat fewer calories. My appetite is definitely more controlled. I have to also declare that my periods are lighter in flow and shorter in length. That is the most exciting part expecially since I wasn't expecting it. Good luck to everyone who wants to try this.
