you are right, early intervention is crucial. In my neighbor's case, it

wasn't caught because everyone was looking into her speech, not her

hearing..when she was very young, she would pass all the regular hearing

tests that one could do on a young child. She was very good at reading lips

too, therefore she fell through the cracks. Auditory difficulties and

deafness was covered medically.

I have another friend whose child had anger problems as a very young child.

When he was 3 they found out he was deaf. Deafness can show itself in many

ways.
