Guest guest
Hi Zoe! Do you mind sharing your soap recipe with us? I used to make my own soap, but now can no longer use any irritating chemicals, like lye..it would be fun to make some again!

Guest guest
, I am not aware of any way to make soap without the use of lye. When you add the lye to the oils is saponifies and produces soap + glycerine once it cures( leave it set for at least 2 weeks before trying to use it) there are no harsh chemicals left. By using coconut oil you not only get a firmer bar, but it has a lush lather as well. When possible I use a combination of coconut, palm and olive oils. Lye needs to be handled very very cautiously using glass containers and always rubber gloves. Children and pets should be kept out of the area where soap is being made and the area must be thoroughly cleaned afterward in case any lye flakes floated out of bounds. Its tricky, but the end result is worth the trouble to me. Thursday, November 2, 2006, 4:50:56 AM, you wrote: > Hi Zoe! > Do you mind sharing your soap recipe with us? Guest guest
Sally, you said we can get too much Estrogen from foods? (look below), the only ones I know of are Soy and perhaps Parabens in body creams etc., watch out for them. Bonnie Re: How can it be? > > > > > > In a message dated 11/1/2006 4:40:14 P.M. Guest guest
Before buying any creams, look at the ingredients list for parabens. Guest guest
My understanding is that the plant estrogens are much weaker than the ones that cause harm in the body. By binding to the estrogen receptors, these plant estrogens (phytoestrogens) stop the stronger, more harmful estrogens from attaching there. That is why it is thought that phytoestrogens protect us from hormonal cancers, hot flashes and so forth. Nina Re: Re: How can it be? Sally, you said we can get too much Estrogen from foods? Guest guest
Zoe, your list is great. I don't adhere to all of it - I skip most of the animal products, just fish on occasion - but otherwise nobody could quarrel with it. (except of course -VCO is pure white!) Nina How can it be? Yes, I adopted several guidelines for myself some time ago, would like to share them with you all. #1 Eat nothing artificial #2 Avoid refined , which means no white sugar, white rice, white flour, table salt, etc almost anything " white " is taboo in my menu. #3 Avoid fast food like the plague. I do all my own cooking even tho i live alone. #4 When problems arise- exhaust all natural remedies before resorting to any drugs including aspirin and other OTC stuff. So far the natural remedies have always worked for me. #5 Whole foods either raw or lightly steamed seasoned with Ghee (clarified butter- homemade of course) and Real Salt with herbs if preferred. #6 Either home grown or certified organic produce. #7 Limit meats to lean cuts and only from ranches that adhere to clean unadulterated standards and who test their products for residue. Certified Organic if available. The above is my old list, which still stands unchanged, but to this I have added the inclusion of many types of fermented foods to my diet as well as Virgin Coconut Oil and what a delightful addition this has been. How could any product be more perfect and healthy for us, the only one i know of is Raw Milk. As Stuck so aptly put, anything man has tampered with is adulterated resulting in pure junk. God has given us everything we could possibly need, how did we get so arrogant as to think we could do it better? Our world is sadly out of balance, ruled by greed and madness, it is only within groups such as this one that I can see a shred of hope for our future. Money cannot be worn, nor eaten, nor does it heal our wounds or provide us with shelter- how did it get to be such a powerful force?
