A few months ago there was much discussion about Aikers and other athletes who " couldn't possibly have CFIDS, and they were hurting our " cause " by saying they did, and by excelling in their activity. There are some PWCs on the extreme opposite end of the spectrum. We don't like to think about those, nor do we like to acknowledge that there may be folks with less impairment than us. We hurt our own cause by not believing in the extremely wide range of devastation this DD can cause in individuals by chasing of in one way or another those who fall outside the bell curve. If we can't believe or understand or are made uncomfortable by the extremes of this disorder, how can we possibly expect the rest of the world? Perhaps if someone had said to me the how ill one can get, I may have taken it easier on myself and maybe not fought so darn hard to get well. Docs said exercise..I exercised..doc's said forget about the disease...I did...Docs said take antidepressants..I did..nothing helped, most things hurt...in the long run I'm far sicker today than I was even 5 years ago not to mention 10. If I'd have known to listen to my body instead of ignore it, perhaps I wouldn't have so many physical problems today.<snip> ****Been there...done that. I don't fault him, I just think that there are so many different variables at play in my illness, there may not be answers or treatments for me for a long time......I just think that some things just " happen " , and no amount of money, medical care (alternative or traditional) or who knows what else can change what is to follow. That said, i also believe as good an attitude as one can muster (which varies from day to day, of course), and a good gust of wind from the southern ocean breezes have the potential to cure things that even the best of medicine can't..... I decided to try replying from this message and it seems to be fine. It's such a shame though, when you take the time to write a detailed message and it doesn't reach the group. I am still reeling after reading about the trauma you have gone through. Your wife and family must have been horrified and incredibly angry. As for taking legal action, I also had every reason to sue when I had my first "botched" surgery. I personally couldn't have handled the stress or expense. It's a big decision to make, that's for sure. Are you able to eat? Your body has sure been through more than anyone I know. I'm glad you have a wife and family that love you very much. I have been asked to respond toa couple of querys re: esophagectomy but they have not gotten througheither. I get my emails forwarded. Today I went on the Achalasia pagein and found the message that signatures on posts are notpermitted. I had such a signature that showed digital art that I do onthe computer. So I assume this is why I have been bumped. I have beena member of this group for several years and would like to continue.
