Guest guest
Sally, The original question was, " who's on a low carb diet " . I spoke up and now someone has posted negative things about this WOE. I'm sick of having to defend it. I know what I'm doing, I know it is healthy and I don't think I need to defend it to people who are just too lazy to look up the facts for themselves. Should I need to quote every book and study ever written? No. It's your problem that you don't get it, and not my job to explain it. If you think that it's bad then don't do it. If you think your husband is wrong then maybe you ought to look up what he's been reading to understand it, instead of just disagreeing without knowing what you're disagreeing about. And what exactly did I say to lead you to believe that I'm not keen on fruit or veggies? I never did, it's just what you read into it. As far as whole grains go, we I don't need those, they are processed whether you like it or not. You can get all the vitamins you need from low carb vegetables. Grains are not necessary and as far as " going " goes, if you get plenty of fats and vegetables then regularity is not an issue. Since you admit you haven't read anything that pertains to how I live, then please, stop assuming I must be doing something unhealthy. Atkins did not die fat. He died bloated (gaining some 30+ lbs) from all the fluids and drugs they pumped into him when he was admitted to the hospital. He was not fat when he fell and cracked his head open on the icy cement. I don't need you to wish me luck with it. Luck is something you need when you are not sure how things will turn out. I have been doing this for a long time and the health that I enjoy from it has nothing to do with luck. If it was luck I was waiting for, I would have given up a long time ago. As far as just assuming my meat has carcinogens in it, why don't you look up free range and see how that works. I eat smaller amounts of meat than you think. When you get the optimal food your body needs, then you don't need large amounts of meat or anything else. However, when I want more than 4-5 ounces, I don't worry about eating it. It's not something that harms or concerns me. Also, I consider anything on the market that says " low carb " to be a processed food. If it doesn't grow naturally then it's not real food. Boxed food whether low carb, low fat, or low cal is just garbage in a box. You say you are not " having a go at me " . Well, it does come across that way, if I sound pissy well then, I am. Do yourself and your husband a favor. Look up Banting and READ about him. That is what I prefer to call what I do. I don't have a problem with Atkins however, he was not the first one to come up with low carb. Banting was. Sally <sally.hoffman@...> wrote: --- In Coconut Oil , > > > It sounds like your not keen on veggies or fruit either. These are full of antitoxidants, vitamins etc. carbs from fruit and veg are low carb, arn't they? You talk about 'whites' well we all know white carbs are bad. I don't touch anything white or processed. wholegrain or wholemeal etc is completely different. Complex carbs release sugar slowly. There is b vitamins, selenium, fibre, chromium, molybdenum, even probiotics in wholegrain, How do you get your roughage to keep bowels/colon healthy? I must admit i haven't read the latest Atkins or low carb books. I believe he died fat, so what happened there? Everyone is different, so if it works for you, good luck with it. I would be interested to know roughly what you eat in a typical day. If your not eating bacon, sausages, loads of meat, cheese etc mostly processed and carcenogenic and don't eat carbs(or do you buy low carb equivalents?) and not keen on friut and veg, what exactly are you eating? I'm not having a go, i'm just curious. My husband says its proven we don't need carbs but i'm not sure that's true. Guest guest
Hey Jovelle, I know what you mean. Anyone who refers to what Atkins says as a 'diet' doesnt know what Atkins is talking about. He says that health problems come about because the modern diet has for many generations been refined foods THAT HAVE DAMAGED OUR DNA...but thats not everyone though. Thats why people have reactions to the foods he mentions... which happen to be linked to carbs. There will always be people who need to be hand fed and cant do their research and this is why many criticize Atkins, they dont do the research. It was a revelation to me about the above point he made. I try and limit my carbs as much as possible. As a funny point, have you seen the black comedian who was on Oprah ,who refers to it as a " low crab diet " ...man that was funny !
