THIS IS A PROGRAM WHICH HIRES PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES -- BOTH PRIVATE AND

PUBLIC EMPLOYERS ALREADY KNOW THAT THE CANDIDATES WILL HAVE SOME FORM OF

DISABILITY. FOR THOSE INTERESTED, I WOULD CONTACT YOUR LOCAL UNIVERSITY AND

ASK TO SPEAK WITH SOMEONE IN DISABLED STUDENT SERVICES TO REGISTER ---

Thank you for contacting the President's Committee regarding our Workforce

Recruitment Program (WRP).

The WRP is a program co-sponsored by the President's Committee and the

Department of Defense to recruit college students with disabilities for paid

summer internships and permanent jobs throughout the country. Less than 50%

of the positions are in the Washington, DC area and the others are scattered

throughout the country. Most of the jobs are with the Federal Government,

but we are working to expand opportunities in the private sector.

We interview on college/university campuses during the last week of January

and throughout the month of February. The students' names and contact

information are distributed in mid-March to those federal agencies and

private employers who want to hire through our program. Most of the job

offers are made by early June.

We only interview on college/university campuses that have invited us and

can guarantee that we will have at least 8 students to interview. The date

that we will be on campus has already been sent to the participating

schools, and if your school is participating, your disabled student services

coordinator or career center coordinator should have the information. If

your school is not participating, and we are interviewing at a near-by

school, you may be able to arrange with that school for an interview (if

they have an extra time slot).

Please feel free to email our Program Manager, Betsy Friedman, who

administers the WRP for our office. Betsy can provide you with additional

information and can tell you if we are recruiting at your school or a nearby

campus. Betsy can be reached at Friedman-Betsy@...
