Guest guest
HI, I've just started in this group. And I read all the messages posted. I've heard good and bad comments. But I am so glad to be a part of LPA! Where I grew up (and still live) I wasn't able to have other lps as friends. Now, I have made so many email friends I could burst! Though I can't go to meets, I enjoy having some kind of contact with others. I than God everyday that LPA was created! Not only have I made friends, I have also learned more of what is offered to us. So to all my new friends GLAD TO HAVE YOU in my life, FINALLY! I hope to continue my new friendships and eventually meet some of you in person. For those of you who have my name is babygirl_pebblez. On aol instant messenger it's EZPebblez04. Again than you all, I am so glad to have LPA in my life!
Guest guest
Wow...how encouraging! It's nice to know that someone can see the positives that can come forth out of being a part of LPA. I totally agree with everything that pebblez has said here. Once you sort out all the bad apples from the good, then you can begin to see the real motive for support behind such an organization. Every large organization isn't going to always get along..that's life folks. Like pebblez who for one reason or another doesn't have that added opportunity to attend meetings (although I hope one day that she does) on a chapter, district and regional support, then there is this..the dwarfism listserv. If we start reaching out to others in this organization....maybe to the shut-ins, new families of lp little ones and the like, then we wouldn't have time to sit here and knit-pick at each other. Like many who have said before me and myself included...get involved in LPA on a volunteer basis and if you think that what you have to offer isn't needed, then look again. Many people volunteer and don't even gain recognition. Start by emailing or calling your local chapter president today, who I'm sure could always need an extra helping hand. Just by contributing to your local chapter newsletter or by starting up a monthly column of your own, is one way to start volunteering and it doesn't even have to involve leaving your home, for those of you (myself included at the present time) who are homebound. Again...welcome pebblez and I hope you can continue to see the real purpose of what LPA is all about. Encouragement and motivation to improve something, instead of knocking it down can come from within. So let's start with what 'we' have to offer and not worry about how anybody else acts or reacts, to something that's probably of a trivial nature anyway. Time is a wastin' here peoples.
