Guest guest
Just my opinion... Why are we always so worried and concerned over what a few Hollywood actors >>>may<<< say and/or think about us even negatively? Remembering too that the printed media has misquoted many, including ourselves. However, my main point is not whether the media has misquoted him or us, it's this: Mr. Thorton's comments are then posted here as if we all must rise to join the already formed brigade of non-thinking but fully following LP's some of us become:( by the skillful manipulation of our emotions and fears by a certain " few " LP's out there who want us to do such all the time. Then we are expected by these same few to immediately protest this actor, because we are all too dumb and we don't know how to do it on our own anyway. Or we are begged to write that same actor or some other media figure (Mr. Onesi for example) a letter of our anger or at the very least an email of our discontentment when most of us would probably never follow -Bob (for example) as the standard of our morality anyway, but we expect the actor -Bob himself to follow our standard of morality. Isn't that ironic and doesn't anyone see the twisted logic of all this stupidity? Most of us would never likely hold Bob (example) as our guideline of morality nor follow what he does and does not say, yet we are not only asking him to follow ours, we demand it of him! Follow your own morality and standards first, then I might listen to your arguments! Hypocrites! The Palestinian-Israeli Issue has been brought up before on this listserv, but in reality, I 've seen never seen any of our Presidents suggest or even hint to us as a people or as a republic (a group) to protest or to write anger mail to either side, no matter how much the issue may affect us indidually or wholly. Rather, both sides hold a joint 'conference' (usually at Camp ) with the President acting as mediator to " discuss " the ISSUES of both sides in a peaceful atomsphere. Why not invite Bob to our Conference (Camp Toronto, hehe) to see how much we are alike and to see the humanity we both share? Or another suggestion to the IRC chatroom leaders: Invite Bob for a one night live chat with all of us for the same purpose. Think about the positive effects we'd have on someone as big as he is (concerning his media influence which ironically ties in with what many of us are concerned about, how the media 'portrays' or 'views' us), if he we to truly come to our conference (Camp Toronto, hehe)? We would end up sending him home with a smile rather disgust as would happen if we email him 1,000 letters of protest telling him we think he sucks which by the way, like duh, did we forget, he can delete them too. B-different, b-postive, b-you:). Stop following the crowd. Extend an invitation and lay down your pens of retribution and anger. Follow neither me nor the few who constantly play on your emotions and/or fears. B-your own leader. The sad part is that my words will mostly likely fall on hardened hearts and I know no one will invite him to the conference or to the IRC chatroom for a live one night chat with all of us as it's easier to write him and say, " Mr. Thornton, you suck " rather than extend a hand as our our Presidents have done time and time again concerning the Israeli- Palestian issue. Lastly, we live in a nation of 260 million plus peeps and most likely somewhere right now, be it in a diner in Bumchuck, Idaho or in Gucci's on Rodeo Drive in Beverly hills someone somewhere is making fun of a dwarf, a Jew, an African-American, anyone and everyone and we can't stop it. Legally, because of free speech. However, what we can do is this: Walk down to the local elementary school in our neighborhood and ask to put on a " Little People Awareness " program and change the hearts of many in love instead of protesting or thru bulk emailing letters of anger which only get deleted. Many of us hated Mr. Onesi's opinons of a certain dwarf basketball team which some of us felt he misunderstood them and their purpose. So, many of us did as we were expected:(, we wrote letters of anger and guess what? I went back there to that site the other day as I had bookmarked it and did I find our many letters of anger still there shining their dark light? Nope, not a one... the paper or Mr. Onesi probably deleted them all. So much fer that effort, huh? But... maybe the one lone letter that was different from all the rest was the one that made him >>>think<<< and change his heart and his ways? Not the many that said over and over again, " How dare you! You have no right! You suck, Mr. Onesi! " Because I was always taught you can win more with love than anger. Oh well, everyone, I could be wrong too? Who knows, only God, but I ain't a changin' to anger's side that's fer sure as I've the seen the destruction and hurt that can and has done to everyone, big and small:(. luv you all, big & small, grady;)
