Guest guest
What you say is your opinion and that is YOUR right, but I would venture to say yours is the minority position on this issue. If those of us who dont agree with you remain silent it is as good as doing nothing about the child abuse going on next door...How would you feel if you knew something like that was going on andsaid nothing and then woke up to read in the paper that the child was dead-----and you remained silent? Silence indicates complicity and /or complacency. I will not remain silent, therefore be guilty by complacency of allowing something that is documented to be dangerous to my children and my friends, without voicing my concern. Guest guest
Child Abuse is being forced on someone, when a LP does something on a TV show we do not like...it was a choice the LP made... When the Child is being a Abused it's not a choice. So comparing the two is totally in accurate.. it doesn't prove the point. When Verne CHOOSED to do the role...it was a choice.. and my opinion is to each it's own...and if I was getting the money he's getting...I'd be laughing at this debate..cause it's pointless when LP's are gonna keep doing this. Guest guest
No, you're missing the point 'Hippacrits.' MOST of us do not feel like we should be stereotyped from society because of some deragotory show on the TV. Just because *you* have not been affected by what has happened out there doesn't mean that other LP's haven't either. Take this for instance: I've been asked have I starred on TV or being in the circus to whether or not I have been on the Jerry Springer show -- since some people can not bear to thought that dwarfs can have normal occupations other than for sheer entertainment. Members on here have expressed concerns in the past of them or their dwarf child being picked up without permission just by some stranger. What if some day that stranger turns out to be some guy who knows about " midget bowling " ? Ok, that last example is a bit extreme. But you catch my drift. It's a matter of advancement in respect and safety; whether or not you appreciate that, that's up to you. The rest of us on the otherhand, do care. Guest guest
i've been ask'd if I was on TV, or other crap like that...and i inform the person...but complaining about others actions like this isn't gonna make a difference...so why waste the time is what I don't see...like most people I know...i have alot of other things in my life to worry about IMHO
Guest guest
All I have to say is I choose not to be involved in this argument, nor do I want to hear about it. When this has blown over, I'll come back to the list, but for now, I'm unsubscribing. Tara
Guest guest
Substitute spousal abuse then...the adults in that situation often CHOOSE to stay in the battered situation for whatever sick reason they do....fear, ignorance, self esteem....The principles still apply. That doesnt make it anymore right for a person to remain quiet when they observe what is happening, nor is it anymore correct if the action in question (in your case dwarf tossing, bowling or any number of demeaning/potentially physically harmful activities) is practiced by a large number of individuals. In this case I rather doubt a large number of LPs actually endorse or participate. You are correct that people are going to do the wrong thing, going to act in reckless manners, hurt maim and kill regardless of laws or popular opinion, but the rest of us have a responsibility both morally and socially to stem the tide as much as possible or we are guilty by accquiescnence.
