Guest guest
They say they are the first to have a band of LPs in the public eye? That sort of gives them a large responsability of representing a people...One hopes that the general public won't get the idea that they are representative of all little people. I was struck by the opportunity they had to explain that smoking did not stunt them and that this is a genetic condition. It seems that it wasn't important to them what the public thinks about LPs...except not to call them midgets. I have conflicting feelings about this...Anyone else want to share an opinion on this article? Now, at least in my area, SED stands for Severe Emotional Disturbance. It is hard to get people to understand as it is, without miss information being published. Perhaps, this being my first exposure to this particular group, I have mistaken their brand of humor....Or maybe they are exhibiting a lack of self respect. comments? Guest guest
Great -- the public has learned not to use the " M " word. Now do you think this can be done without the derogatory female stereotypes? Nice to know that these guys are the poster children for LPA online. Makes me proud to be a member. Rose J. Guest guest
I think this article goes under the category of NOT PG rated, PG-13 rated, or R rated. Freedom of the press is one thing but lack of good judgement is another. This article should not have been posted on this listserve. Guest guest
Great article, thanks. Kudos to the Little Kingz for doing things on their own terms. I get the impression LKz is going to teach entertainment media a thing or two about how to market dwarfs instead of allowing themselves to be made into just another tired circus act. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Bradford, Portland, OR dbradfor@... http://www.teleport.com/~dbradfor +1 503 203 1043 ---------------------------------------------------------------------

So before anyone defends the decision to post this article, keep in mind that it was illegal, regardless of whether you think it was in bad taste. And, yes, it was in bad taste. The Little Kingz don't bother me, and I kind of got a kick out of the article when it appeared in the NY Press. But that doesn't mean it belongs here. =========================================================== Dan Kennedy Internet services coordinator Little People of America, Inc. http://www.lpaonline.org
Guest guest
I'm curious.. why was Wolfe's submitting this article in bad taste? Does the article condone the band? No. Does LPA publicly condone the band? No. Did the writer? Again, no. It's obviously giving everyone including I, a taste [and varying good/bad viewpoints] of what is being written out there about little people. According to that link given, it was from the NY Press where *anyone* can access it. I've seen far more stirring posts put on here versus this stuff. As far as my opinion, I agree with Willow b/c I also have conflicting feelings about what was said [if we're supposed to be good influences...towards women too...anyway] We as members, should be aware what is being thrown out there, especially if the name LPA was put in it. My 2 cents. --Irene > Let's not forget, folks, that it's a violation of copyright law to > post an entire article on the listserv. Guest guest
I was shocked when I read this. The first part seemed innocent enough. But the rest of it. I just skipped the rest. It definitely NOT for children to read. If I had a child, I wouldn't Allow my child to participate on this list until they were older. (Much older) I would think people would have common sense to KNOW what's fine of kids to read and what's just NOT appropriate! Even teenagers without children of their own know what is appropriate. I think that was poor judgement on posting this here. I believe it would have been easier to post the link of the article and Let people know that this article isn't suitable for all audiences. Last I knew this WAS a family list! ~Disgusted~ a

Guest guest
I'm pleased the article was posted. It was informative and interesting. I don't need someone deciding what I should and shouldn't read based on the fact that children might over hear, thank you very much. Guest guest
Tell me, Would you really want your 12 year old son or daughter reading something like this? Being an Adult is one thing, being a child is another. > I'm pleased the article was posted. It was informative and interesting.
