Guest guest
Yes I have been ticklish since I was a lil kid and my Dad was the worst at doing it to me....but I can remember my mother when I was 16-18 and she would have been 36-38 always complaining if you touched her wrong...and thinking God, i hope i never get like that....course she would now (at age 69 and in very good health )admit to any kind of pain now. My sisters both ahve signs iof FM and wont get it checked...and my 19 yr old dtr has signs too...very sensitive...me, I thought i was just getting old when I was DXed 5yrs ago...and I have been on heavy meds since DX. ..but the last few days have been a bear for me...I have all tender pts and more too....I think most people do....how a DR can think it is all in the mind is beypond me...Judy in AZ

Guest guest
Rhoda Before I answer Rhoda, can those of you with FMS tell me, how many of you were ALWAYS extremely " ticklish " ? As opposed to those WITHOUT FMS? Just another one of those odd things... I have to ask! (My doctor said he has found that his FMS patients are extremely ticklish, and they said they were from childhood) For Rhoda FMS TP's, I feel there are more than the 18 they state on the Medical Web sites. I don't know where they all are either, but have been told that some of the points are not listed. When I went to the RA doctor, after exam my husband came in. He asked the Doc if he was sure. The doctor said, (with a slight smile) " Yes, besides other indications, and medical history, and symptoms, she has also got all the " tender points " , and then some. " He then explained the Tender Points. After hubby walked out, I asked the doc what he meant by " and then some. " He said that there are many more points that are not listed, that doctors " tend " to look for, even if some of the other 18 stated, are found. He said I did have many of the " other TP's " So, there must be others (??) beside the TP's listed commonly. I do know that Every inch he tested, had me jumping, and I was in terrible terrible pain. I went home and it took a week to recover from the EXAM !!!!!! Rhoda, I don't even concern myself with " Tender Points " any longer. In my opinion, If you got it, you got it. And no amount of TP's... " more, or less than " , will make it any different. FMS is FMS. Excuse me... this is a bad day... actually bad 6 months! Just really low tolerance of my situation with this crap called FMS today. Guest guest
Rhoda Tell hubby to STOP with the tickling! It is just as a TP. It will throw you into a bad painful spell. Haven't you noticed that? If he don't stop, tell him that all of us on this list with FM will be at your house next week and we will hold him down and take turns tickling HIM!!! Guest guest
Susie, I used to be very ticklish, but haven't been tickled in so many years that I have to assume I still am. As a child my brother would hold me down and tickle me until I peed my pants. He was such a brat! If anyone tickled me now, I would just cry. There are many more tender points that just the 18. They use the 18 just for a diagnostic criteria because they are observed in so many people with FM. It seems so many more people are flaring with FM lately. I'm tired of dealing with it too, and wish there was better treatment. I hope you feel better soon. a ----- Original Message ----- From: Elf <sheadley@...> < egroups> Sent: Friday, January 19, 2001 7:26 AM Subject: Re: [ ] Rhoda / FMS > Rhoda > Before I answer Rhoda, can those of you with FMS tell me, how many of > you were ALWAYS extremely " ticklish " ?
