Guest guest
, My doc told me that my hypothyroidism could be postpartum, but there is no way of knowing for sure. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis back in 1992, because I had anti-microsomial and anti-thyroglobulin antibodies. My TSH has been verified every 2 years since then. My last TSH was normal in July 1999. I suspect that I started becoming hypothyroid while pregnant, because of severe bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome. However, no one (including myself) thought that this was due to hypothyroidism, since many women develop this during pregnancy, so no one thought of taking my TSH. I had a goiter back in 1992, but probably my thyroid is completely destroyed by now, which is why I don't have a goiter. > Were you told that your hypothyroidism may be a case of postpartum > hypothyroidism? Or were you having symptoms prior to your pregnancy, too? Do > you have an enlargement of the thyroid gland (goiter)? Were you tested for > thyroid antibodies to rule out autoimmune thyroiditis? I don't mind the medications, actually, I still believe in modern medicine. But I know that there may be ways to alleviate the pain that you can combine to medications. > I'm not sure what to advise you about how to alleviate pain without > medications. Does that mean you don't want to be on any? Or do you mean to > ask what can you do in addition to the drugs?
