Guest guest
My own Two Cents: I think that Chloroquine is somewhat related to Placquenyl, but am unsure. As for myself, strictly speaking for myself, I had an hour to kill once about 6 or so years ago before a Rheum appointment. Not having much to do, I ducked into a & Noble in Manhattan, and a new book on RA caught my eye. It wasn;t really new, or that great, but I read of a drug there that I had not then heard of: Placquenyl. At that point, Zorprin @ 800 mg x 4 daily does was doing Squat-minus for me, so I jotted the name down. The genius who I was then using for a Rheum said, when I asked him if Placquenyl would be a good thing to try since other things have done diddly, replied, revealing and fully exposing his Medical School education and sum total of experience: " Uh, yeah, sure, I mean, why not, sure, let's go for it " . With this surefire Nobel Prize-worthy endorsement I started on Placquenyl. In three weeks i t started working, and working very well. I had much greater joint mobility than I realized I had lacked before starting it. Ah, but all parties come to an end, some alot quicker than others. My hands, arms and legs looked as though I had spent a few days at a Leper Colony. I had red swellings ,and it was really frightening. " Uh, we can cease the Placquenyl for awhile " , my Rheumatological medical sage wisely opined. It's been real, I thought, we're stopping this stuff, PERIOD. And within days, skin back to normal. And within days, RA back to 'normal'; too, meaning, in Latin, status quo ante, or as bad as it was before I started on this stuff. But, results for many others have not been similar to my own reaction. Each case is different. But for pure RA relief: Yeah. It worked. Watch skin reactions carefully if you use this stuff. Hope this helps-- Jon
Guest guest
Hi Jon, I had a severe skin reaction to Plaquenil as you did. Plaquenil is hydroxychloroquine. The plain chloroquine I have had no trouble with. The Plaquenil worked for me too after three weeks. Felt so much better, then had the reaction too. This chloroquine is not working as well it seems. nne
