Guest guest
, YOU are an inspiration to me!!!! Every time I read something from you, about your boys, I am so thankful that God gave them you as their mother. You obviously love them so much, and are so good for them. I only regret all the suffering you endure as you watch suffer. My comfort is in the fact that I know God loves even more then you. We, as a family, will be holding you all up in prayer! Guest guest
a, No has been having the pain in his fingers in his right hand for 2 1/2 years. A couple of months after he got bit by the rattle snake in nov of 98 is when they started hurting off an on. Now both hands hurt but no swelling. He did have swelling in the right elbow a few weeks ago.The pain and swelling in his knees has been since last summer. At first we thought it was from all the skateboarding. He wears all the safety gear but still you can only land on your knees so many times. He also had bruised his tail bone and left hip from a fall. The only flaw in that theroy is that he hasn't been skatebording since oct and he still swells and has pain. Maybe the pain is just growing pains but i don't think so.He also has muscle spasms in his lower back and some times in the upper back and neck but thats usually when he has been wrestling at PE or at football practice. He did have spasms when he hurt his tail bone for a few days. There i think that about covers . Thats aleast what he has told me and what i have seen. We are pretty close and talk well together so i dont think he would hide anything else from me but then again he knows how stressed i get when jesse is not doing well and he is the type of kid that will do whatever he can to prevent me from worring more. said to me today that he loves alot and wouldn't want anything to happen to him. All the younger boys look up to but they are still brothers. nags about doing things that could hurt him and about taking his meds and he tells jesse that if he doesn't do what ever he can to help himself then thats like killing himself and he isn't going to let jesse do that. you know a, i was feeling kind of down today with all the things going on with jesse and what could be going on with but telling you all this has made me remember how lucky i am to have such great kids and no matter what comes we will deal with it together and i have a boyfriend that is great and his parents and brother are wonderful and love my kids like they were their nephews and grandchildren. I have an ex husband that is a very good friend and will do anything for the boys when he can. He came up from fl to surprise us and ended up giving me 100.00 too get the kids shoes and such on top of buying late christmas presents cause he had to work. My boyfriend and my ex husband get along great so my ex stays here with us so he can be with the kids and their thoughts are whats best for the boys. Guest guest
Jan, yes is 13, is 11 and they have 3 younger brothers, 10, 6 and 4. was dx in aug. of 95 with Systemic JRA but we have come to believe that he may have had it since infantcy. He was also born with a club foot and had surgery at 10 months old. He ended up with a bad ear infection after surgery and asthma as well. is a very active. he loves skateboarding and playing football. He started having pain in his fingers about 2 yrs ago. The pain and swelling in his knees is new for the past few months. The peds dr. did blood work on him for JRA and that doesnt' seem to be it(but not ruling it out). 's Peds. RA dr says that he wants to see and find out what is going on. He feels that something is going on and he wants to make sure keeps playing football and skateboarding and if he can manage it will have jesse doing it with him. Some say that its very unlikely for 2 children in the same family(siblings)to have JRA. Now 's JRA is also in his lungs and doesn't have that kind of problem. Dr says that RA/JRA is a crazy and unpredictable disease and never underestimate it. he is very committed to finding a cure for this disease and until then helping kids be the best they can be. wow iam talking up a storm today. Thank you for your prayers Jan. I have also been very absorbed in what is going on in our live that i don't seem to remember if you have posted before this. Please tell me what it is that is going on in your life. I will have to tell jesse about you. He knows many of the girls by name. I think Esther is someone that he looks up to. She has such zest in her personality that i think she inspires him. Jenna who hasn't posted in a while sent a cd with the books that she has written. She is very talented. Wish i could get to read her books but he is so active that he doesn't have time to be on the computer unless its for homework. You take care Jan and we will be thinking of you. shelly and the boys

Guest guest
& , I hope this new regiment will help . It's good that his doctor is treating his pain too. He needs all the relief he can get. I'm so happy to hear that he is so excited about the growth hormone. I hope he gets good results from it. I'll be praying that doesn't have arthritis of ANY kind. Hopefully it is just that bug hanging on. Guest guest
I'm new to online. I live in SC, dx'd with RA about six yrs ago, within two years my left knee joint was shot, had replacement in 1998, had to quit work per drs orders, I''m 58. Medicare goes into effect 2/1 (finally) so I've been without coverge, the expense is bummer but I manage. I'm just not able to afford Embrel and now he wants me to try Remicade which is out of question obviously. I've been on prednisone since the beginning and Methotrexate. Went through the routine of trying most everything. Recently having a bad flareup, you know, swelling, can't walk, pain racking every part of the body, of course have fibro too which acts up when you can't sleep, etc. I manage to keep a good outlook through my support group at S.S. and I work with Awana's at my church on Wed eve. MY lifestyle has changed, go out very little, sunday school and church and to the grocery store. 3 hrs is about my up time before I can't walk much.Use a cane as right knee and hips need to be replaced as well. Prayer is my key and keeping a good attitude. My husband is 77, a great help, gets along better than I do and is active like a 20 yr old. Children help me with certain chores in the apt I can no longer do myself. All in all, I do pretty well. I will keep you and your children in my prayers. Tell them I have a minature poodle named who doesn't know he's a dog>>>> spoiled rotten but he's our baby. Have a good day. Talk to you soon. Keep your chin up mom, you are not alone. Guest guest
, He got bit by a RATTLE SNAKE????? Did he get sick from it? Yikes! I sure hope he doesn't have arthritis too. It sure sounds like something is up, and I am glad you are getting him checked out. So many people here remember having joint pains as a child that was blamed on growing pains. If he has it, it is better to get it treated early and know what you are dealing with. You really do have a lot to be grateful for. Sometimes it is difficult to see when overwhelmed with so much worry. It is wonderful that everyone gets along so well. It means so much to the children to not have that stress to deal with. I don't know how I helped you see this positive side, but I am glad I could help. I'll be praying for your boys, and also for your continued strength to handle whatever life deals you. hugs, a ----- Original Message ----- From: <12341234@...> < egroups> Sent: Monday, January 22, 2001 12:24 PM Subject: Re: [ ] Jesee's appointment > a, > > No has been having the pain in his fingers in his right hand for 2 1/2 > years. Guest guest
Jan i sure hope you find something to help you. We have been very lucky with the Enbrel for jesse. It changed his whole life. He has small flares compared to having one all the time for 5 1/2 yrs. Right now he isn't taking the Enbrel cause this bug is in his lungs. he also had to stop taking it before christmas due to lungs acting up then too. There is a big difference in him. He started the Enbrel in Apirl of last year. He was able to go out and ride his bike that he got for his birthday the month before. over the summer he was playing football and being so active. He was never able to do that. he was in all the time and missed half the school year. We have trouble with the school here. When i enrolled the kids last school year i spent 3 hour in the office with them explaining jesse's condition and what he needed. Today we are finally having a phone conference about getting the homebound services and this is after i got a lawyer into it. They are just now realizing that he could miss weeks at a time for even months of school. He has had to repeat the 5th grade But they are going to test him to see if he is at a 5th grade level or a 6th grade level. he is very bright and very well could be in the 6th grade level except for maybe math. When they did the IQ test it came back that he was above average for his age... so maybe he can go back and be with his friends. He is small enough that he could pass as a 2nd or 3 grader but is much older mentally. We sure hope you get the meds that you need and we will keep you in our prayers. shellyand the jesse
Guest guest
Tery, At this point we are not sure about moving. The dealership deal fell through. Not unusal but things could change quickly. and his father work at an Ed Morse dealership here in mobile and Ed Morse owns many dealerships in fl. Mr. Morse is the one that decides where jason's dad will go and right now the used car dept is keeping this dealership afloat. His exact words were I WANT WALTER IN MOBILE TO KEEP THAT DEALERSHIP GOING. kinda sucks for the all of us but we will survive. My ex is looking into a chef postion at a hotel in ville. That means he would move that way so there is a chance we may be in that area. shelly

Guest guest
thanks for words of encouragement. Have been doing research and found the company which makes remicade and am waiting for a response. also of interest to everyone who needs assistance, there is a program through The Medicine Program which, if you are approved will assist and supply your medication. Log onto www.themedicineprogram for info. You download an application, send $5 for each rx for processing fee. In turn they send you forms for you and physician to complete. you should hear within 30 days if approved or not. If approved the dr or company will send you 3 months supply at a time. If not approved, you can request in writing a refund of the application processing fees with a copy of the denial letter. Anything is worth a try. Hope this will help someone out there even if I can't get assistance. Have spent all morning trying to find out from medicare/bc/bs what the approval amount for remicade is, however, believe or not, they didn't know.....surprise, surprise. I am fortunate in that I worked in the healthcare field for 20 yrs and know a lot of the drs in the area, my dr. gives me samples of the ultram each month with help, unfortantely with this flare-up, nothing seems to help. The sun is shining today so I'm upbeat and thankful. Will keep all friends in my thoughts and prayers. Chat later. Jan
Guest guest
Welcome to our group Jan. It tough having RA and no insurance. I'm glad it won't be for much longer. Hopefully you will be able to get treatment that works better for you. My mom raised miniture poodles for many years, but now has a standard. Her poodle doesn't know she is a dog either. For that fact, neither does my rotweiler! I like the fact that poodles don't shed. I had one that I found abandoned in an ice storm. He was half frozen to death, and turned out to be the nicest dog! I hope you can get Remicade when your insurance kicks in. It works best in combination with MTX and I believe medicare will cover it. I'm on enbrel, which has been great for me. I also have FM, and wish I could get it under control as well as my arthritis. a ----- Original Message ----- From: <burnettaljanb@...> < egroups> Sent: Monday, January 22, 2001 7:48 PM Subject: Re: [ ] Jesee's appointment > I'm new to online. Guest guest
Hi there: Medicare will pay their allowed charge for Remicade, the problem is I;m having a problem finding out just exactly what that amount is. Also, I did contact the drug company which makes Remicade and they do have a patient assistance program so I am going to call that number in the a.m. and find out the details. I'll pass this on once I hear about it. The hospital here said that one dose was $4,000 can't hardly believe that, almost had a stroke....ha, ha....thanks for your input, keep in touch, this group is a life saver to me. Guest guest
Hi Jan, One day at my RA clinic I heard a visiting Rheumatologist from UCLA Medical Center mention that Remicade is a godsend since Medicare will pay for it. I believe he said they would pay because it had to be administered at a hospital. This was when Remicade first came out. I am on Enbrel so I only know what I heard and I hope the doctor knew what he was talking about. I will go on Medicare May 1st so I have a lot to learn about what they will help with and what they will not. Best regards, Patsy -----Original Message----- From: burnettaljanb@...
