Guest guest
Hi Rhoda, I haven't had that problem, but it sounds like an allergic reaction. Did it just start or does it always happen? What's the doc say? Tina
Guest guest
are you sure that your tongue swelling is not an allergic re-action to something. the reason i ask is that it does not matter which medication I'm put on my mouth breaks out w/canker sores and the back of my tongue swells. sometimes more so than others. I have a friend whose daughter has severe asthma and allergies and she keeps " vitamin c powder " I think its 1/8th of a teaspoon in a glass of pepsi.(we have found that ,this is the best way it goes down) usually if you put it in anything else it tastes nasty. the c counters the allergic reaction. it has to be vitamin c powder, and it can't be a vitamin c tablet crushed. somehow it loses something doing that..GOOD LUCK!!! Guest guest
Hi rhoda, Any white patches or furry look to your tongue?? = yeast infection...Any sores or ulcerations?? could be stomatis - inflammation of the mouth. Either one can be cause by your immune system be suppressed from the prednisone. Both are treatable - keep us posted with what the doc says & stay away from the spicy or acidy foods (citrus esp.) until it goes away. Best of luck, Tina

Guest guest
I think Tina meant an allergic reaction to the prednisone, Rhoda. I'm glad it's not the Indian food, too. I'd feel blue if I couldn't eat my saag anymore. Have you called your doctor? Please do if you haven't. Swelling of the tongue, throat, or about the face is usually a serious sign of a drug reaction. http://www.ahealthyme.com/article/srxdrug/100222322 http://www.altmed.com/resources/drugs.cfm?ID=7834 ----- Original Message ----- From: " rhoda kendry " <plantjunkie@...> < egroups> Sent: Wednesday, January 24, 2001 7:33 AM Subject: Re: [ ] prednizone side effects > just started 2 days ago was sore before i had my > indian food so i know it's not that yippee!!! you can > tell my tummy is feeling better if i'm eating that hot > stuff yummie... > i'm trying to remember if i ate something else but you > know fibro fog gets in the way for me for little > things like that... > rhoda > > --- Sprytm267@... wrote: > > Hi Rhoda, > > > > I haven't had that problem, but it sounds like an > > allergic reaction. Guest guest
Actually the tongue swelling and other symptoms could be an allergic reaction to the drug or the food or some other thing - a very severe allergic reaction. I am not sure I would wait until tomorrow. Reactions tend to get more severe and not better - if you are exposed another time. I don't mean to be alarmist - but please don't shrug this off - we care about you!!
