Guest guest
Howdy all, Am writing to ask any of you if fresh pineapple helps with your arthritic pains; it seems to helpme a little; normally I am real sick when my period starts and today it is tolerable; maybe its the fresh pineapple; I bought one on friday and have been eating little chunks 3-4 times a day; am going to go to my doctor this next week and see if he can change my meds around a little cause don't want to take prednisone anymore; Ifeel like that stuff is making my bones worse; plus its such bad stuff to be on; I am going to ask my doc to retest me and see if i have the RA factor; I hurt so much when it comes to the winter and weather changes; I can predict the weather betterthan the national weather bureau; oh, hasanybody had sucsess with electric blankets and also magnet pads? just curious; I am always looking for a way to control my pain factor rather than taking more pills; all of you newbies welcome; this support groupis so informative; hugs to all , Michele in Houston
Guest guest
Hi Michele, That pineapple sounds wonderful! Yummy! I don't know if it helps me since I have never paid attention, and I have only eaten the canned stuff. I think I have never bought a fresh one bcs I am intimidated by it's looks! Isn't that silly?? How do you go about cutting it open and digging the pineapple out? Maybe if I knew, I'd buy one. =) LOL For me, when all else fails as far as meds, I sit under a very hot shower for about an hour. That always helps. I have a bath chair in my shower, so I don't have to stand. And I get constant hot water, where in a bath it cools down. Plus, when I have gotten used to the current temp, I make it hotter. I heard that electric blankets aren't good for arthritis. My first RD told me not to use one. I can only assume it is because the constant heat will cause you to swell. But I think it is OK to use if you are awake, but don't fall asleep with it on. I would assume his reasoning was it would cause a flare if you slept with it on all night. Has anyone experienced that? Hugs & Kisses, ~Rainy Sue

Guest guest
Rainy Sue, At some grocery stores, they will put the pineapple in a machine that peels and cores it. In the produce section, you may find it. I sleep with an electric mattress pad and have had one for many years. Without one I would get so bone chilled that I wouldn't be able to sleep. Most nights, I warm the bed and turn it off, but some nights I fall asleep with it on. I have an electric blanket throw on my favorite chair as well. a ----- Original Message ----- From: <Rysu19@...> < egroups> Sent: Monday, January 15, 2001 7:09 AM Subject: Re: [ ] Pineapple fresh! > Hi Michele, > > That pineapple sounds wonderful!
