Guest guest
By being on both lists right now, will this mean duplicate messages? What is the difference between digest and normal? ----Original Message Follows---- From: dwarfism-owneronelist Reply-dwarfismonelist small_fry_71@... Guest guest
Tami, and others. Digest means you will receive ONE email from the listserv daily...ONE! It will have all of the messages from that day on this digest version instead of the seperate ones you are used to seeing. LESS MAIL! I use it when we are away for a few days, at the hospital, conference, or just wanting to have space for a while. We are pleased onelist has this little advantage. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ " The Kiss of an angel's wings... is as the touch of a butterfly kiss.. Guest guest
To Our New & Improved Listserve: Hello to all who have switched over already. To make it more worthwhile for others to join us quickly, let's start discussing something now. Any ideas anyone? I'm looking forward to the possibilities. Also, thanks to Dan and others who researched this change for all of our benefit, but especially to Dan, since he continues to be the person who gives so much of his time & effort for little if any tangible reward! ===================================================== ----Original Message Follows---- From: dwarfism-owneronelist Reply-dwarfismonelist ima_ltl_amazon2@... Guest guest
Hi Dan, I did subscribe.. and I want out already, but the out info are not obviously visible to me.. get you tell me again ? Welcome to dwarfismonelist WELCOME TO THE DWARFISM LIST! The Dwarfism List, started at the beginning of 1996, is read by more than 600 people, and is a forum for questions, information, inspirational messages, and -- yes -- jokes. It has replaced the Usenet newsgroup alt.support.dwarfism as the primary forum for the discussion of issues related to dwarfism. From 1996 through July 1999, it was hosted for free through the generosity of the University of California at San Diego (UCSD). In August 1999 we moved to ONElist, an advertiser-supported commercial service with better software controls for both the moderator and users. To post your own message to the list, send mail to dwarfismonelist. Please be specific in filling out the subject line. A lot of messages are posted to the list, and carefully filled-out subject lines can save people a lot of time when sorting through their e-mail. Also, when replying to a message, please don't quote the entire previous message, especially if it's a long one; just quote relevant portions. RULES OF THE ROAD The Dwarfism List is an open, unmoderated forum. However, we do have a few rules aimed at keeping the list enjoyable and useful for everyone. You will be expected to follow these rules. Repeated and willful violations will result in the violator's being deleted from the list. 1. Grossly abusive messages will not be tolerated. People who post messages clearly intended to harass members of our community will be deleted from the list of subscribers. Further problems will result in a formal complaint to the abuser's Internet provider. 2. Personal attacks will not be tolerated. There is absolutely no need for 600 people to be forced to watch while two or three people have it out with each other. Civil disagreements are fine, but flame wars must be taken off the list and fought out in private. 3. Messages of a purely political or religious nature, with no relationship to dwarfism or even to broader disability issues, are not allowed. The Dwarfism List is a high-volume list. There are many places on the Internet to discuss politics and religion. Please have enough respect for fellow list members to refrain from doing it here. 4. Each member of the list is limited to no more than three posts a day. If you think you need more than that, what you really need is a chat room. Casey Hubelbank maintains some excellent chat resources at http://pages.prodigy.net/ritzycat/irc.htm. Please make use of them. The sole exception to this rule is me, your friendly neighborhood list administrator. But I promise never to post more than three messages a day unless those extra messages are related to the maintenance of this list. 5. The Dwarfism List has been set up so that responses to a post go to the list, not to the individual who made the post. If you wish to respond personally, please go ahead, but don't " cc " the list. In other words, send your messages to the list or to an individual, not both. 6. Each member of this list is expected to know how to unsubscribe and subscribe on her or his own. You should never send an " unsubscribe " request to dwarfismonelist. All 600 of us don't need to know that you're trying to leave. Simply log in on the ONElist Web site and follow the instructions on how to unsubscribe. It is extremely easy. 7. You must never, ever, under any circumstances post a warning about a computer virus. The vast majority of these warnings are chain-letter hoaxes that claim your computer will get an e-mail virus if you simply open and read an e-mail. That is impossible. It is certainly possible to get a virus by opening and executing an e-mail attachment, but you should never do such a thing unless you know who sent it and what it is. Thus, warnings are unnecessary. Important: If your e-mail program is set to open e-mail attachments automatically TURN THAT FEATURE OFF! 8. Speaking of chain mail, don't. The Dwarfism List is not an official part of LPA. However, many list members belong to LPA. Have fun! Dan Kennedy (dkennedy@...)
