Guest guest
(I'm outta here, seeya!) Curie It appears that Curie couldn't stand the heat and is getting out of the TeenScreen kitchen. Curie, an administrator at the federal Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), was responsible for setting up the New Freedom Commission. He pushed and funded (with your tax dollars) the unworkable TeenScreen program. On May 20, 2006 an article on TeenScreen appeared in the National Journal: http://www.psychsearch.net/journal.pdf The National Journal: " the leading weekly on the policy-making process, National Journal is widely read in all branches of government, in businesses and in the policy community. Professionals choose National Journal for the beneath-the-surface coverage of the issues, people and organizations that shape our nation's policy. " According to The National Journal magazine (cost $35.00 per issue) the below listed offices were each mailed a copy of that issue: Executive Office of the President of the U.S. 150 Cabinet and Federal Agencies 793 Congressional Offices 7,852 On May 25, 2006 the below press release was sent out. Curiously, the press release announcing the resignation of this federal government employee was sent out by the drug company front group NAMI (more info on NAMI here: http://www.motherjones.com/news/feature/1999/11/nami.html) http://biz./prnews/060525/dcth065.html?.v=38 PR Newswire US May 25, 2006 Thursday SAMHSA Administrator Curie Resigns; NAMI Praises Leadership and Achievement WASHINGTON May 25, 2006 WASHINGTON, May 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) received the news today that Curie, administrator of the federal Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), intends to resign, effective August 5, 2006. NAMI executive director J. Fitzpatrick has issued the following statement: " We express our appreciation and respect for the leadership Curie has provided in seeking to pave the way for genuine transformation of America's mental healthcare system. He is a leader who has been truly committed to principles of individual dignity and recovery. He understands the needs of people living with mental illnesses, and their families, and has served as our advocate. His greatest contribution perhaps was his work with the White House in establishing the President's New Freedom Commission on Mental Health, and then developing an action plan from its recommendations. His commitment also has extended to advancing integrated treatment for dual diagnoses of mental illness and substance abuse, as well as elimination of the use of restraints and seclusion as a treatment option in mental health care. NAMI's friendship with him goes back many years, including his tenure as Deputy Secretary of Public Welfare for Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services in Pennsylvania. We look forward to continuing that friendship, and working with him on whatever future path he chooses. " CONTACT: Bob Carolla of NAMI, +1-703-516-7963, bobc@...
