Guest guest
The son of a friend, 14 yrs old with Asparger's autism (typical onset following immunizations) has had a crisis. Me friend is a believer in the system because she has had to rely on them for help with her son. Her daughter is on Straterra for ADHD, she takes an AD (for hot flashes and mood swings following hysterectomy) and she even took a chemo drug for her arthritis for a while. But lately, I've been able to show her that her daughter is having side effects from her Straterra, and she's starting to listen to me. Anyway, her son has had a major breakdown. He was totally out of control at school, almost got arrested, and it was discovered that he's ben cutting himself. He was not on any meds because about 7 years ago my friend's husband talked her into taking him off the meds he was on. So this break is without meds, but with his autism. Now he's in a residential treatment center and they have him on Abilify - for bi-polar they said. I thought Abilify was an antipsychotic for schizophrenia?!?!? What concise info can anyone send me? Terry " ...There are certain things in our nation and in the world about which I am proud to be maladjusted and about which I hope all men of good-will will be maladjusted...Through such maladjustment, I believe that we will be able to emerge from the bleak and desolate midnight of man's inhumanity to man into the bright and glittering daybreak of freedom and justice.
