Guest guest
Elaine, is also 4 yrs old and i have been told by school officials that he will also need speech therapy when he starts school. its also hard for anyone to keep jared's attention for a great length of time and he is also very active. my nephew is ADHD. he had to be tested by more then a therapist to come up with that dx. Best bet is for melissa to talk to her peds dr. about the 2 year old. i feel that a child will speak when they are good and ready. i have to agree with you about the therapist. not some one i would take seriously. sure hope you do get down this way. shelly

Guest guest
Dear Friends, My daughter just called me. She had her 4 year old daughter evaluated for " speech therapy " . The therapist said that Brittany has a MUCH larger vocabulary than a 4 year old usually does, but that she does not concentrate when she talks, therefore, the words she uses are difficult to understand. While she was testing Brittany, Brittany would not look her in the eyes and was constantly moving, eyes, hands, body, etc. (was not focused is how she put it) The therapist said that she believes that Brittany has AHAD. She gave , (my daughter) advice on the best ways to teach Brittany (using all three senses.. eyes, hearing and hands) since is home schooling both Brittany and her sister (age 6). The therapist said that she will NOT recommend speech therapy for Brittany right now, as it would be impossible to " hold her attention " , but if it doesn't improve by fall, they will re-evaluate her. The therapist wants to talk to her pediatrician about putting Brittany on medication. won't go that route. Anybody have any suggestions? We are particularly interested in a possible connection with DIET. Brittany HAS been tested for allergies.. and that is NOT the problem. She also had her tonsils and adenoids removed, but I think that she had already started to mispronounce the words before that and believe that she just hasn't yet " relearned " the words, but we will see. , 2, also went with and Brittany today, because he raised a fit about " staying home " . The therapist says that he is " developmentally behind " because even though he UNDERSTANDS EVERYTHING, he is not yet speaking in sentences.. (he doesn't HAVE to.. everyone tries to avoid his temper tantrums and anticipates what he wants!!) (Can you tell that I am not all that impressed with the therapist????) The beginning of March I will be going down to Mobile and staying with , , and three of my grandchildren, hopefully, for 5 weeks if I can get my own medical problems under some kind of decent control! Any suggestions will be appreciated. elaine
Guest guest
Elaine, I would tread very lightly with any therapy. Kids learn at different paces, and if they think there is something wrong with them, it affects their self esteme. The schools are to quick to put labels on kids. My son was doing very well in school until the 3rd grade. He was reversing his letters and they tested him for dyslexia, which runs in my family. Through this test they decided he was not working up to his ability, and put him in special classes. He was an A-B student! It destroyed his self esteme when they pulled him out of his regular classes to go to what he called the retard classes. I should have intervened, but I thought the school and all their doctors knew better than I did. If she has a wonderful vocabulary, she is probably above average intelligence and just can't get out what she wants to say. It will come at HER pace. The school also wanted my son medicated. I refused. I found out that he was allergic to red food coloring and sugar, and as long as I watched the artificial coloring and his sugar content, he was more calm. will know if her child needs medication, NOT any therapist. Although you say allergy is not a problem, I recently found out that there is a difference between allergy and intollerance. If you have a food intollerance, it will not show up on an allergy test, but you will still suffer from the effects. The Feingold diet that posted has very good results. There are also support groups that may help. I'll see what I can find. Tell to follow her instincts because they are probably right. a
Guest guest
Hi Elaine, This is a long shot, but worth sharing I think. My daughter had a problem with slow speech. At six months or so I took her to doctors in Missouri to complain that she never stuck her tongue out like other babies. The docs just patted me on the head and told me I worried too much. When she was around 14 months old I moved to California. I immediately took her to a doctor and he immediately told me she was tongue tied. He cut the web beneath her tongue and told me she had never been able to make pre-speech sounds. With speech therapy for a year in second grade, she caught up. Eight years later when my son was born, the pediatrician cut a web from under his tongue the day after he was born. Neither of my grandchildren -- my daughters children -- have inheirited this problem. Good luck! Guest guest
I and Welcome, I know how you feel and I think I know whats wrong. When you go on TRT Androdem Patches in time they stop working because every time you take the patch off you are left with a rash. I needed HC cream to get this rash to heal and doing this over and over again makes your skin thicker and the T in the patch dose not get through your skin. I would not waste my time seeing an Endo Dr.'s do this when they don't know whats wrong the think Endo's are experts at this and they are not all they seam to be good for is treating diabetes. I have seen 7 of them in the last 27 yrs and not one was up on this they tell you they are but take my word for it they are not. They are not even good for Thyroid problems. I talk to a lot of people everyday on the forums and I here sad things about men and women being sent to see a Endo for low T or a low Thyroid. For one thing you have been on TRT for yrs. so seeing a Endo will not help anyway your brain has seen this Testosterone from your patch in your blood and shut down the messages sent to your testis of LH and FSH to tell them to make Testosterone. So as time goes on they get smaller. All you need to do is go to Dr. 's site www.allthingsmale.com and read TRT: A Recipe for Success and his HCG Update he puts this out there free for you and your Dr. so print it out and give it to your Dr. Have him start you on Testosterone shots doing 100 mgs every week and add in some HCG do this 250 IU's the 2 days each before your next T shot. Doing this will get your testis working as best they can and there size will come back up. After about 8 weeks do labs again and test your Estradiol E2 levels if high this will hold back any good the Testosterone is doing for you. In the TRT from Dr. 's site are labs you need done after starting on TRT do them. If your E2 levels are high we use Arimidex to bring them down. If your high post to use we can tell you the dose you need and how to take it. Here is a good link to read in this it states to get your Total and Free T levels up into the upper 1/3 of your labs range and to keep your E2 levels down to about 20 pg/ml this is all it takes to feel good if your Thyroid and Adrenals are OK. http://www.griffinmedical.com/male_hormone_modulation_therapy.html Learn how to do your own shots here is a link about it I use a small 27g 1ml. x 1/2 " lg. needle to shoot into my thigh no pain and I have dam good levels. http://spotinjections.com/index3.htm You will find doing shots is the lowest type of TRT out there. Guest guest
, If you came in the office with that level. I would want to have retest done unless they did a repeat analysis to confirm. Most likely your specimen could have been contaminated. Most likely it was a lab error. 5 mgs is not usually enough for the average man and there may be other factors effecting absorption such as hidden thyroid or adrenals issues which need to be ruled out. If you are in the north eastern USA for contact info email me to get the proper help. If you are in the mid west region please contact dr crisler as he is the best HRT dr in midwest. Endocronologist you are probably just wasting your time and prolonging your condition. > > I'm new to the group, so please forgive me if I'm not using the proper email/group protocol. > > A few days ago my doctor informed me that my testosterone level is 28....completely out of any normal range (350-1100?) for a 57 year old male. Guest guest
Thanks for contacting me. Don't be shy about asking your hotel concierge to do a little research for you in advance, or to use the hotel refridgerator to store food. I've cc:d a local group that may be helpful with suggestions. Whole Foods is a supermarket in the Bay Area with some stores in SF. Your hotel concierge will be able to direct you to the closest one. They have their own line of GF products and carry many, many GF products. Re: Restaurants: Pica Pica (spanish style) and Amici's (pizza) are 2 choices. One Market and Pacific Grille are higher end restaurants; but both are GF friendly.Good Luck!
