Eli Lilly withheld the drug's disastrous effects in order to get children to participate in the study. /24-7PressRelease/ - HAGERSTEN, SWEDEN, April 05, 2006 - The "ADHD medication" Strattera is not approved in Sweden. Eli Lilly decided to do a one-year clinical trial of the drug on children. The purpose of the study was to get Strattera approved by the Medical Products Agency (MPA). The company hired the psychiatric authority Bjorn Kadesjö to lead the trial. The 100 participating children and their parents needed information about the adverse effects of the drug in order to sign the consent form. They thought they got it. They did not.Eli Lilly deliberately withheld information about disastrous effects of Strattera - information which could have made the parents and children want to withdraw from the study; information which could have made the Regional Ethical Review Board want to disapprove the application; information which could "disturb" the result of the trial. The "updated" information given to parents and children about adverse effects was from January 31, 2005. The only serious adverse effect mentioned was liver injury in very rare cases. But documents now made public show that Eli Lilly knew about several serious effects from Strattera at that time. Take the FDA report Psychiatric Adverse Events Associated with Drug Treatment of ADHD: Review of Postmarketing Safety Data, released for the FDA Pediatric Advisory Committee meeting, March 22. It says that Eli Lilly (and other pharmaceutical companies) were asked to provide information about a) signs and/or symptoms of psychosis or mania; suicidal ideation and behavior; c) aggression and violent behavior, (for Strattera for the period November 2002 - June 2005). In that period Lilly had received 350 reports of psychosis or mania, 900 reports of aggression and violent behavior and 400 reports of suicidality. In a Preliminary Assessment Report from December 2005, written by the British medical regulatory agency MHRA, it is mentioned that Lilly from November 2002 to September 2005 had received 766 reports of heart disorders connected to the use of Strattera. (It should be noted that credible estimates of the percent of adverse reactions that are reported range from 1-10%.)It is certainly not so that Eli Lilly had received these reports in the period February - June 2005. Almost all of reports had been received in the foregoing 26-month period and only a minor part in the 5 month up to June 2005.This means that Eli Lilly deliberately withheld Strattera's disastrous effects of psychosis and mania, aggression and violent behavior, suicidality and heart disorder, in the information to parents and children in the clinical trial. Guest guest
I'd sooner believe it was an effort toward population control than I would mind control. I've heard fertility rates have been declining worldwide. But I don't like to speculate so much. I'm intrigued by G.H.W.B's resumé...always have been. And after seeing how the Bush and Quayle families have been so pharma friendly behind the scenes (and in front of), I've come to suspect agendas that had nothing to do with the welfare of the american people. > > " In that period Lilly had received 350 reports of psychosis or mania, 900 > reports of aggression and violent behavior and 400 reports of > suicidality...Eli Lilly deliberately withheld Strattera's disastrous effects > of psychosis and mania, aggression and violent behavior, suicidality... Guest guest
well good grief, my autistic grandson's been on strattera now for 3 years(recommended then by Megson for adhd) . We don't see her any more. But because I now want to remove the strattera-his pediatrician won't give me advice as she says he should stay on it-she not an autism doctor by a longshot-so I am emptying the caps by half for now-not very scientific, but the best I can do-and removing strattera slowly. This sucks that there is no doctor here that can give me help. By the way-I don't blame Megson-she was drawn in like the rest of us when it first came out. Who knows-maybe his aggression will stop after removal------Maurine Mateosian <cjoibm@...> wrote: OK, I couldn't resist sending this one, too. Probably not news to Leland! ... Guest guest
OK, I will chime in on the MK ULTRA thing. Late night radio is a guilty pleasure of mine. As I understand, mercury fillings was originally developed by the CIA to communicate with operatives in the field. So if your a writer or just your average late night radio coffee junky (like myself) you can put the pieces of the puzzle together. It would make a great Tom Clancey novel and so much of the " dots " are there to wrap it all up in a nice little fictional story.. Guest guest
Do you really believe autism was caused on purpose by the CIA? Or are you throwing that out there to stimulate debate? If the government was going to inject something for purposes of mind control there are more effective/predictable things to inject. And why poison your own population? Wouldn't they experiment elsewhere first? Which I certainly don't condone, but figure the CIA would rationalize it somehow! I'm more inclined to believe it's just corporate greed. A few powerful people with a lot of money wanted to make even more money and didn't care who they hurt. The government looked the other way because corporations run government. They don't want to remove it because their accountants have done a cost analysis and figured that the costs associated with damages are worth the money they'd save by leaving it in. Regarding the legislation you are talking about. I haven't read it but have a few theories as to why it passed through homeland security: !). It's another way for the government to stick it (literally) to the military. Before my nephew went to Iraq they shot him up with every kind of vaccine. It's not optional, they own your body and want it to be useful to them now, they don't care about later. BUT they don't want to have any liability for after you're out if they have damaged it. 2). They can pass things through homeland security that would probably never get passed through otherwise because of all the other stuff included in the same legislation - who wants to be remembered for voting against security? They know thimiserol causes autism and need to get legislation passed to protect the government and big pharma (same thing?) from having to pay out massive settlements to autism victims and their families so they slip it through on the sly in homeland security... BTW, I came across this trivia this week which seems fitting to share with this subject: Henry, the great orator who said "Give me liberty or give me death", the words that helped spark the American Revolution,...was killed by mercury poisoning! It's ironic that a founding father of this country was killed by mercury and now our government allows it's citizens to be poisoned by it in the name of homeland security. Cregar <diana.cregar@...> wrote: "In that period Lilly had received 350 reports of psychosis or mania, 900 reports of aggression and violent behavior and 400 reports of suicidality...Eli Lilly deliberately withheld Strattera's disastrous effects of psychosis and mania, aggression and violent behavior, suicidality..." I'd sooner believe it was an effort toward population control than I would mind control. – Please take a moment to think of thimerosal as a possible CIA military MKUTLRA application: ELI Lilly; LSD, Prozac, Thimerosal, Straterra (just a theory). Having read this story until I'm blind, I just do not believe it is an accident, a miscalculation of mercury microgram conversation. So, why is all vaccine liability legislation passed through Homeland Security and the Department of Defense? Why is there such an effort not to remove it? http://tinyurl.com/jnfd6 It is most certainly not about the welfare of the American People or the health of children in third world countries. I think the legal term is willful misconduct. It sure sounds like an experiement with violence-producing and violent inhibiting drugs, hyperkinetic children, and hormonal aspects of passivity and aggressiveness in boys to me. The players seem to be the same. Of course the theory is null and void if the mercury-based preservative in the vaccines -- thimerosal -- is not responsible for a dramatic increase in autism and a host of other neurological disorders among children. The Center for the Study and Reduction of Violence at UCLA was part of the CIA MKULTRA project. January 11, 1973, Governor Reagan announced plans for the Violence Center. Three years later H.W. Bush becomes CIA Director and eventually Vice President under Reagan. http://tinyurl.com/zwxk6 The Director of the Neurophyschiatric Institute and chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at UCLA, Dr. Louis Jolyon West was selected to run the center. Dr. West is alleged to have been a contract agent for the CIA, who, as part of a network of doctors and scientists, gathered intelligence on hallucinogenic drugs, including LSD, for the MK-ULTRA program. Where did the CIA get its LSD? Eli Lilly. Some of the planned areas of study for the Center included: · Studies of violent individuals. · Experiments on prisoners from Vacaville and Atascadero, and hyperkinetic children. http://tinyurl.com/gwc4c · Experiments with violence-producing and violent inhibiting drugs. · Hormonal aspects of passivity and aggressiveness in boys. · Studies to discover and compare norms of violence among various ethnic groups. · Studies of pre-delinquent children. In the late 1980’s, the U.S. health authorities under the Bush Sr. Administration, aggressively expanded their immunization schedule by adding seven (3 Hep B and 4 Hib) new shots for children in their first six months. All of these shots, as well as some previously included on the vaccine schedule, contained thimerosal. According to the FDA's Center for Biologics, an infant six months old who received all of the vaccine doses on schedule would receive 75 micrograms from three doses of DtaP, 75 micrograms of mercury from three doses of Hib, and 37.5 micrograms from three doses of hepatitis B vaccine - a total of 187.5 micrograms of ethyl mercury. http://tinyurl.com/jrqaq Eli Lilly and Thimerosal…Eli Lilly faces hundreds of civil lawsuits from parents who blame thimerosal for their autistic children. But the pharmaceutical giant has powerful friends in the White House and in Congress. The elder Bush sat on Lilly’s board of directors in the 1970s, and White House Budget Director Mitch s was a Lilly executive. Lilly CEO Sidney Taurel was named by President W. Bush to the Homeland Security Advisory Council. In November 2002, Congress passed a provision, tucked into a spending measure for homeland security, to indemnify Eli Lilly from lawsuits and require families to seek compensation through the federally funded Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. It was repealed in February 2003 after public outcry. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) still hopes to pass a similar bill. Congressional consideration for Eli Lilly makes sense: In the 2002 election cycle, the company gave more than $1.5 million to federal candidates, with three quarters to Republicans, making it the fourth-biggest giver in the pharmaceutical industry, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. In the current election cycle, the company already has given close to $230,000 (67 percent to Republicans) to federal candidates. http://tinyurl.com/kteol One of the conundrums of autism is why there is an approximate ratio of four boys to every girl who gets this disease. Dr. Lovell therefore tested the possibility that this could be hormone related. The latest results were quite marked in their effects. Neurons that were pre-incubated with estrogen demonstrated substantial protection against thimerosal-induced neuron death. In contrast, the addition of testosterone caused a very large increase in thimerosal-induced neuron death. A low nanomolar level of thimerosal that gave less than 5 percent neuron death in three hours could be increased to 100 percent cell death by the addition of one micromolar level of testosterone. Testosterone alone at this level also showed less than 5 percent cell death. The opposing effects of estrogen and testosterone may explain the gender-based four-to-one ratio. Most important, the tremendous enhancement of thimerosal toxicity by testosterone points out the impact of synergistic effects when addressing mercury toxicity. http://tinyurl.com/fxs8p Evidence of Linkage between the Serotonin Transporter and Autistic Disorder http://tinyurl.com/zmze4 In platelets, thimerosal causes aggregation, increase of arachidonic acid metabolism, and exocytotic release of serotonin. http://tinyurl.com/fs5pv http://tinyurl.com/fxzsf Effects of mercury on serotonin concentration in the brain of tilapia, Oreochromis mossambicus. http://tinyurl.com/2h9o3 Mercury is also known to inhibit synaptic uptake of dopamine,53 serotonin,54 and norepinephrine.55 Mercury apparently has a higher binding affinity for serotonin binding sites. They told him they took Jeff to get help for problems he was having with police and at school. They say his treatment included the antidepressant Prozac. Norepinephrine, dopamine and serotonin were measured by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) in various regions of the brain including hypothalamus (VMH), media amygdala AME), lateral amygdala (ABL) and hippocampus (HPC). Norepinephrine content of VMH, AME, ABL, and HPC was not statistically different between the two sexes. However, values of dopamine in ABL of males were significantly less than corresponding female rats; levels of serotonin in the AME and ABL were also less in males compared to females. Conclusion: In males, decreased serotonin in the amygdala was associated with increases in aggressive behavior. Whether this relates only to the presence of the Y chromosome or to a combination of the Y chromosome and male hormone testosterone, remains to be determined. http://tinyurl.com/fzj4k The plasma levels of norepinephrine (NE), the neurotransmitter of the sympathetic nervous system, was higher in the patients than in age-controlled normal volunteers both while supine and after standing. The plasma activity of dopamine-beta-hydroxylase, the enzyme that converts dopamine to NE, was significantly lower in the autistic patients and their healthy relatives than in control groups. Dopamine-beta-hydroxylase does not appear to provide an index of sympathetic activity in this group of patients who, on the basis of the elevated plasma levels of NE, may demonstrate a chronic state of hyperactivity of the sympathetic nervous system. http://tinyurl.com/edb7v Lysergic acid diethylamide, more commonly known as LSD, is a non-toxic, non-addictive molecule which mimics serotonin in the brain. http://tinyurl.com/k6c33 Serotonin or 5-Hydroxytryptamine, is a neurotransmitter, carrying neural messages from nerve cell to nerve cell. Lysergic acid and similar compounds, collectively known as serotonin antagonists, bond to the same D-receptors used by serotonin. Through this action, lysergic acid blocks serotonin and redirects neural pulses. http://tinyurl.com/nkha6 The leaders of MKULTRA had high hopes for LSD. Only a speck of LSD could take a strongwilled man and turn his most basic perceptions into willowy shadows. Time, space, right, wrong, order, and the notion of what was possible all took on new faces. Where did the CIA get its LSD? Eli Lilly. Click Electronic Weapons (Acoustic Psycho-correction) http://tinyurl.com/zwxk6 Thirty years ago, Frey discovered that microwaves of 300 to 3000 megahertz could be "heard" by people, even if they were deaf, if pulsed at a certain rate. Appearing to be originating just in back of the head, the sound boomed, clicked, hissed or buzzed, depending upon the frequency. Later research has shown that the perception of the waves take place just in front of the ears. The microwaves causes pressure waves in the brain tissue, and this phenomenon vibrates the sound receptors in the inner ear through the bone structure. Some microwaves are capable of directly stimulating the nerve cells of the auditory pathways. This has been confirmed with experiments with rats, in which the sound registers 120 decibels, which is equal to the volume of a nearby jet during takeoff. Aside from having the capability of causing pain and preventing auditory communication, a more subtle effect was demonstrated at the Walter Army Institute of Research by Dr. ph C. Sharp. Dr. Sharp, himself, was the subject of an experiment in which pulsed microwave audiograms, or the microwave analog of the sound vibrations of spoken words, were delivered to his brain in such a way that he was able to understand the words that were spoken. Military and undercover uses of such a device might include driving a subject crazy with inner voices in order to discredit him, or conveying undetectable instructions to a programmed assassin. http://tinyurl.com/bl9gw http://tinyurl.com/zk5ej Dr. Karl Reichelt of the Pediatric Research Institute in Oslo, Norway hypothesizes that a defect in serotonin metabolism may be responsible for sound sensitivity in autism. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter related to arousal and inhibition; and it is known to be abnormal in many autistic individuals. […] Another possible cause of sound sensitivity is mercury poisoning. Many parents and professionals believe that the mercury preservative (i.e., thimerasol) used in many vaccines can cause autism. Research on mercury toxicity has clearly shown that it can cause sound sensitivity. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autism Although not universal, it is common for autistic people to not be able to regulate their behavior. This can take the form of crying or verbal outbursts that may seem out of proportion to the situation or self-injurious behaviours. Individuals with autism generally prefer consistent routines and environments; they may react negatively to changes in them. It is not uncommon for these individuals to exhibit aggression, increased levels of self-stimulatory behavior, self-injury or extensive withdrawal in overwhelming situations. [...] One common example is an individual with autism hearing. A person with autism may have trouble hearing certain people while other people are louder than usual. Or the person with autism may be unable to filter out sounds in certain situations, such as in a large crowd of people (see cocktail party effect). However, this is perhaps the part of the autism that tends to vary the most from person to person, so these examples may not apply to every autistic. http://www.theslant.com/jam/images/mkultra.jpg MKUTLRA: ELI Lilly; LSD, Prozac, Thimerosal, Straterra (just a theory). Guest guest
November 11, 2003 http://www.inthesetimes.com/site/main/article/648/ Autism in a Needle? The toxic tale of vaccinations and mercury poisoning The Third World is the next frontier in the thimerosal debate. Eli Lilly has licensing agreements with drug companies in 40 countries that make thimerosal and market it under the trade name Merthiolate. In countries where sanitary conditions are questionable, vaccine preservatives become crucial. Single-dose vials rather than multi-dose containers have provided one solution in the United States, but in the developing world that strategy poses challenges and costs. The World Health Organization (WHO), which has a vast vaccination program, assessed the thimerosal issue in 1999, prompted by the U.S. health agencies’ review. The agency echoed the U.S. position and declared in its weekly newsletter: “With the weight of public opinion against the use of mercury of any sort, WHO and other agencies has begun the process of reducing and removing [thimerosal] from vaccines.” The WHO outlined a three-year plan for creating alternative preservatives and new vaccine delivery technologies with the goal of eventually eliminating mercury. Yet in 2003, WHO abandoned this aggressive plan and issued a revised policy on thimerosal, citing its own vaccine advisory committee’s decision that ethylmercury is less harmful than methylmercury, and that “there is no reason on grounds of safety to change immunization practices with [thimerosal]-containing vaccines since the benefit outweighs any risks.” What happened over four years, according to Dr. Philippe Duclos, coordinator of WHO’s Immunization Safety Project, was a dose of reality. “Taking thimerosol away was more tricky than originally thought,” he said. “Taking it away might have created a vaccine with a lower safety profile. And the use of monodose vaccines in many places is difficult because of production capacity. Changing the capacity is a major investment, and you can’t just assume things will be done correctly. It takes time.” 'Time for the CDC to Come Clean' F. Guest guest
Do you really believe autism was caused on purpose by the CIA? Or are you throwing that out there to stimulate debate? Although I love to stimulate debate, in addition to the serotonin similarities between LSD, Prozac, Thimerosal, Straterra and autism hyperhearing, it has to do with the direct distribution of the thimerosal containing flu shot free to indigent people and third world babies as all military applications have an objective. Kennedy Jr., March 1, 2006 Eli Lilly MKULTRA Dulles Operation Paperclip http://tinyurl.com/g3ek3 http://tinyurl.com/z332u http://tinyurl.com/mq5k3 http://tinyurl.com/orkpc The theory starts here... Operation Paperclip and Nazi “Rat Lines” The United States and its Western European allies agreed after World War II to deny immigration rights and work opportunities to Nazis with scientific and technological expertise who were more than trivially connected to the Third Reich. Those who joined the party before 1933 or advanced in the SA (Brown Shirts) or the SS or were identified by credible witnesses as participating in atrocities were included in that category. Contradictions arose, however, after the war. Denying German scientific expertise to the Soviets and using it ourselves became primary motivations for wanting those Germans here in the United States, working for us. Over time the need for German proficiency in aerospace design, lasers, and other advanced research superseded moral concerns for what they had done during the war. Operation Paperclip was the name of the project that assimilated Nazi scientists into the US establishment by obscuring their histories and short-circuiting efforts to bring their true stories to light. The project was led by officers in the United States Army. Although the program officially ended in September 1947, those officers and others carried out a conspiracy until the mid-'50s that bypassed both law and presidential directive to keep Paperclip going. Neither president Harry Truman nor Dwight Eisenhower was informed that their instructions were ignored, and if there is a lesson to be learned from Operation Paperclip, it is that, as Elie Wiesel said of the Holocaust, the world can get away with it. Please note, those who documented Operation Paperclip are not "conspiracy theorists". They are journalists and scholars who described a genuine conspiracy. America’s most powerful Knight of Malta (SMOM - Sovereign Military Order of Malta) J. Grace (1913-1995), oversaw ‘Operation Paperclip’ an venture where former SS members and Nazi scientists war criminals would find employment within government agencies and companies such as W.R. Grace chemical company. ("Nazis, the Vatican and the CIA," Covert Action Information Bulletin, Winter 1986) Grace founded W.R. Grace & Co. in Peru in 1854. J. Grace started in 1936 as Assistant Secretary at W. R. Grace. In 1945, he became president and CEO at the age 32. The long history of W.R. Grace & Co. chronicles its global expansion and penetration of Latin America, a region in which the Knights of Malta would rebuild the Nazi network to conduct fascist operations. http://tinyurl.com/puqxr Grace was accustomed to flaunting his power since he was a young executive in his father's empire. In those days, W.R. Grace was chiefly involved in shipping, planes, sugar plantations and mining in Latin America, and some chemicals. (National Catholic Reporter, May 5, 1989, Penny Lernoux) http://tinyurl.com/kb9gk When it was at its height in drug experiments, operation MK-ULTRA was formed. This was the brainchild of Helms who later came to be a CIA director. It was designed to defeat the "enemy" in its brain- washing techniques. MK-ULTRA had another arm involved in Chemical and Biological Warfare (CBW) known as MK-DELTA. The "doctors" who participated in these experiments used some of the same techniques as the Nazi "doctors". Those doctors who were not indicted in the Nuremberg trials were imported from Germany under "Operation Paperclip." The Nazi doctors were a valuable source of information to the CIA since many of the U.S. techniques mimicked what had already been done by the Nazis. Nazi "rat-lines," named after the lines on the mast of a sinking ship on which rats would try to escape were used to smuggle Nazis and their collaborators out of Europe to safety in South America and Southwest Asia. With the encouragement of the CIA, Reinhard Gehlen set up "rat lines" to get Nazi war criminals out of Europe so they wouldn't be prosecuted. By setting up transit camps and issuing phony passports, Gehlen helped more than 5,000 Nazis leave Europe and relocate around the world, especially in South and Central America. Within a few years after their arrival in these particular countries, the infamous right-wing government "death squads" made their first appearances. (The Medusa File: Secret Crimes and Coverups of the U.S. Government, General Reinhard Gehlen and the OSS, Craig , Consolidated Press International) There, mass murderers like Klaus Barbie (the butcher of Lyons) helped governments set up death squads in Chile, Argentina, El Salvador, and elsewhere. After WWII ended in 1945, victorious Russian and American intelligence teams began a treasure hunt throughout occupied Germany for military and scientific booty. They were looking for things like new rocket and aircraft designs, medicines, and electronics. But they were also hunting down the most precious "spoils" of all: the scientists whose work had nearly won the war for Germany. The engineers and intelligence officers of the Nazi War Machine. The U.S. Military rounded up Nazi scientists and brought them to America. It had originally intended merely to debrief them and send them back to Germany. But when it realized the extent of the scientists knowledge and expertise, the War Department decided it would be a waste to send the scientists home. It's really ironic that our government accepted the help of the very people we fought in the war. Originally called Operation Overcast, Operation Paperclip was the codename for the operation by the US intelligence services and military to extract scientists specialising in rocketry (e.g V-1, V-2), chemical weapons (e.g. Zylon-, chemical reaction technology and pharmaceuticals from Germany after the collapse of the Nazi government during World War II. These scientists and their families were secretly brought to the United States, without State Department review and approval. None of them qualified for visas because they had all served to further the cause of Hitler's Third Reich in World War II. The U.S. Military rounded up Nazi scientists and brought them to America. It had originally intended merely to debrief them and send them back to Germany. But when it realized the extent of the scientists knowledge and expertise, the War Department decided it would be a waste to send the scientists home. Following the discovery of flying discs (foo fighters), particle/laser beam weaponry in German military bases, the War Department decided that NASA and the CIA must control this technology, and the Nazi engineers that had worked on this technology. There was only one problem: it was illegal. U.S. law explicitly prohibited Nazi officials from immigrating to America--and as many as three-quarters of the scientists in question had been committed Nazis. (Operation Paperclip, Clare Lasby, Athenaeum 1975) Convinced that German scientists could help America's postwar efforts, President Harry Truman agreed in September 1946 to authorize "Project Paperclip," a program to bring selected German scientists to work on America's behalf during the "Cold War” However, Truman expressly excluded anyone found to have been a member of the Nazi party and more than a nominal participant in its activities, or an active supporter of Nazism or militarism. (Plain Speaking: An Oral Biography of Harry S. Truman, Merle , New York) During the 1930s Dulles gained much experience in Germany, which made his selection in 1942 as station chief in Berne, Switzerland, for the newly formed Office of Strategic Services (OSS) a natural choice. Dulles supplied his government with much sensitive information about Nazi Germany. In 1945, he played a central role in negotiations leading to the unconditional capitulation of German troops in Italy. In 1947, Congress created the Central Intelligence Agency. Dulles was closely involved with its development, and in 1951 he was named deputy director. Under President Eisenhower, Dulles became CIA director (1953-61). As the nation's top spy during the height of the Cold War, Dulles gave equal emphasis to the clandestine collection of information and covert activities. The CIA was instrumental in the overthrow of the governments of Iran (1953) and Guatemala (1954). In that capacity, Dulles helped masterminded and orchestrated a number of remarkable covert intelligence operations such as the overthrow of Iranian nationalist leader Mohammed Mossagdeh (1953), the overthrow of Guatemalan leader Guilermo Arbenz (1954), and secret U-2 reconaissance flights over Russia which reveal that the Soviet nuclear arsenal is far smaller than Kruschev boasted. (Source Watch, a project of the Center for Media & Democracy, http://www.sourcewatch.org/wiki.phtml?title=_Dulles ) Military Intelligence "cleansed" the files of Nazi references. By 1955, more than 760 German scientists had been granted citizenship in the U.S. and given prominent positions in the American scientific community. Many had been longtime members of the Nazi party and the Gestapo, had conducted experiments on humans at concentration camps, had used slave labor, and had committed other war crimes. In a 1985 expose in the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists Hunt wrote that she had examined more than 130 reports on Project Paperclip subjects--and every one "had been changed to eliminate the security threat classification." (U.S. Coverup of Nazi Scientists, Hunt, Bulletin of Atomic Scientists) President Truman, who had explicitly ordered no committed Nazis to be admitted under Project Paperclip, was evidently never aware that his directive had been violated. State Department archives and the memoirs of officials from that era confirm this. In fact, according to Clare Lasby's book Operation Paperclip, project officials "covered their designs with such secrecy that it bedeviled their own President; at Potsdam he denied their activities and undoubtedly enhanced Russian suspicion and distrust," quite possibly fueling the Cold War even further. According to the FDA's Center for Biologics, an infant six months old who received all of the vaccine doses on schedule would receive 75 micrograms from three doses of DtaP, 75 micrograms of mercury from three doses of Hib, and 37.5 micrograms from three doses of hepatitis B vaccine - a total of 187.5 micrograms of ethyl mercury. http://tinyurl.com/qbdga Gaining faith in federal money? January 16, 2006 When President Bush launched his “faith-based initiative” in 2001 to funnel federal money to religious groups, Pat on was skeptical, calling the idea a “Pandora’s box” and a “narcotic” that would ensnare religious organizations in government red tape. Those misgivings notwithstanding, the federal government has become a major source of money for Operation Blessing, on’s international charity, under the Bush initiative. In two years, the group’s annual revenue from government grants has ballooned from $108,000 to $14.4 million. [...] The organization has received smaller grants from the U.S. Agency for International Development to cover freight costs for humanitarian relief shipments to Guatemala and Romania. It is also part of a consortium of eight organizations that recently received a USAID grant for HIV/AIDS treatment, care and prevention in 14 countries, mostly in Africa. AmeriCares and Operation Blessing In 1982, AmeriCares was created by H.W. Bush's career-long associate, C. Macauley, and included the president's brother, Prescott Bush, on its board. C. Macauley, president of Virginia Fibre – a multimillion-dollar paper manufacturing company went to Yale with Bush and has been his buddy since childhood.Barbara Bush, the ambassador-at-large for AmeriCares, in her book (Scribner, pg. 384), describes AmeriCares as an "incredible organization" and recounts how she and her husband have seen the impact of the work of AmeriCares firsthand in the U.S. and the far-flung reaches of the world like Croatia, Guatemala and Honduras. The former president was a classmate of Bob Macauley, the founder and chairman of AmeriCares. Americares' job is to efficiently manage transportation and distribution of large quantities of multiple pharmaceuticals, vaccines, and other medical supplies. These goods, acquired in donor countries, are accepted, inventoried, warehoused, shipped to distribution points abroad, tracked, received at the relief site, and distributed. A primary objective of Americares was to raise money for aid to Central America. The agency in charge of distributing this aid is the Order of Malta, working through its field organization in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. ( Biagent, Lincoln & Henry Lincoln, The Messianic Legacy, Dell Publishing, 1986) The most important link between AmeriCares, the CIA, and ultra-right organizations was the chair of AmeriCares—from its founding in 1982 until his death in 1995—J. It is considered by many to be a "government operative," and has been linked with the CIA. Grace was the chair of AmeriCares, a private organization that works in third world countries, often coordinating its efforts with the Knights of Malta, another group which Grace has chaired. The Knights of Malta is an elite, conservative, lay-Catholic organization active in carring out U.S. policy in third world countries. Grace was also on the board of directors of the Friends of the Democratic Center in Central America (PRODEMCA). PRODEMCA was formed to support incipient democratic processes in Central America. In May 1985, CBN/Operation Blessing announced a $20 million relief campaign to send "humanitarian" supplies--food and medicine--to Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala. This joint CBN and AmeriCares effort brought supplies "of a strictly humanitarian nature" to refugees and displaced people. Approximately 13,500 of them are in urgent need of antiretroviral (ARV) treatment; only 3,600 were receiving it as of December 2004. http://tinyurl.com/o4kuu In 2001, The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria was established to coordinate international HIV/AIDS policies and distribute funding from many governments, health organizations, and religious institutions. The Global Fund has been successful by matching their programs to the specific needs of the nations most affected by HIV/AIDS. And The Global Fund has been willing to apply practical solutions for preventing HIV and treating AIDS, without being influenced by parochial religious viewpoints. However, the Bush administration is now attempting to change that. The administration is positioning itself to ensure that Randall Tobias, Ambassador for AIDS Coordination, is appointed to lead The Global Fund’s committee for policy and strategy. This would give the Bush administration undue influence on international HIV/AIDS policy, and would likely be a death sentence for many living with the disease. In 2003, after pledging to spend $15 billion on international HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment, the Bush administration created the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) to oversee the disbursement of the funds and HIV/AIDS policy. Randall Tobias, a former Vice President of the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly, was appointed to administer PEPFAR. Under Tobias’ leadership, the administration has been plagued by poor politics, bad medicine, and questionable ethics. The first is that Tobias's record makes him the wrong man for the job at USAID. Before joining the Bush administration, Tobias was a major Republican campaign contributor who served as CEO of the pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly & Co. There, he worked to counter demands for better access to generic AIDS drugs in the developing world by lobbying for corporations' intellectual property rights. As director of the Office of Global AIDS, Tobias received criticism from groups ranging from Planned Parenthood to Human Rights Watch for pushing a politically loaded, abstinence-based response to AIDS prevention in Africa. According to guidelines issued by Tobias's office, two-thirds of the prevention money channeled this year through the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief must be directed to abstinence and faithfulness programs. [...] Tobias's propensity for injecting an ideological agenda into purportedly apolitical programs bodes ill for USAID. It may fit nicely, though, with the Bush administration's larger goals for restructuring our country's foreign assistance programs. [...] However, in consolidating USAID under the State Department, the Bush administration is tying aid money to U.S. strategic interests in a far more overt manner. This is part of a wider trend. As Oxfam America argues, "ince the attacks of September 11th there has been a drastic shift in U.S. foreign assistance that has blurred the lines traditionally separating development and humanitarian aid from political and military action." [...] Most Americans would be surprised to learn that, even in the best of times, very little of the money we direct to "foreign assistance" actually goes to health and education programs for the poor. The bulk takes the form of military aid and economic assistance for states with strategic importance, such as Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Russia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Colombia. In recent years, an increasing amount of money has been shifted away from development and toward programs aimed to "strengthen democracy," "encourage good governance," or "promote economic reform." The new contract with French vaccine maker Sanofi-Pasteur marks a major scale-up in U.S. preparation for the possibility that the worrisome virus could spark an influenza pandemic. While the vaccine is still experimental, preliminary results from the National Institutes of Health's first testing in people suggest the inoculations spur an immune response that would be strong enough to protect against known strains of the avian influenza, sparking the new investment. Bird flu vaccine works -- half the time Mar 30, 2006 http://tinyurl.com/kwnkd Recent tests have cast doubt on the U.S. government's avian-influenza vaccine stockpile. The results of the study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine Thursday, showed that in its current form the avian-influenza vaccine being developed by Sanofi Pasteur protects only half the people who receive it. In addition, the vaccine's high dose casts doubt on the ability to manufacture sufficient quantities should the pandemic emerge soon. Over the course of the study, the vaccine, which is 12 times stronger than a normal flu shot, protected 54 percent of those administered with it. The group was comprised of 451 Americans between ages 18 and 64 who each received two injections a month apart. While the vaccine obviously has room for improvement in terms of effectiveness, the researchers at Sanofi Pasteur were not disheartened with the recent findings. None of the subjects reported any side effects other than a sore arm, and while not universally effective, the vaccine did show a 54-percent success rate in its first round of human testing. It's hard to calculate the damage to our country -- and to the international efforts to eradicate epidemic diseases -- if Third World nations come to believe that America's most heralded foreign-aid initiative is poisoning their children. It's not difficult to predict how this scenario will be interpreted by America's enemies abroad. The scientists and researchers -- many of them sincere, even idealistic -- who are participating in efforts to hide the science on thimerosal claim that they are trying to advance the lofty goal of protecting children in developing nations from disease pandemics. They are badly misguided. Their failure to come clean on thimerosal will come back horribly to haunt our country and the world's poorest populations. F. They did not.
