Brittany 's husband Simon Monjack is said to have died of a 'broken heart'

after loosing his wife last December.

The screenwriter's mother, has claimed that her son never recovered from

the death of the 8 Mile actress having passed away just 5 months after Brittany.

Investigators of his death believe that Monjack died of a heart attack or an

accidental overdose after the chief coroner in the case claimed that Simon had

'a huge number of medicines by his bedside.'

However, him mum has told The Daily Mirror: " He's had heart problems and been in

deep distress since Brittany died. We think he has literally died of a broken

heart. "

" We think the heart problems were caused by the shock of Brittany's death. She

was the love of his life and he was the love of my life. He was so distressed. "

Mrs Monjack added: " I'd known he was ill all weekend and I was trying to get a

flight out to Los Angeles. It would have been the first time I would've seen him

since Brittany's death. I just wanted to see my son. "

An autopsy is expected to be carried out on Monjack's body today but toxically

reports could take up to six weeks to complete.

Speaking to chief coroner Ed Winter, Radaronline.com reports: " We are now

investigating two possibilities of what caused Monjack to die. "

Winter added: " First, a heart attack and, second, an accidental overdose. There

were no illicit drugs located - just prescription medications. "
