Tomorrow at about 9:00 a.m., my " daughter " will board a plane bound for

Ft. Sill, Oklahoma for a few weeks of training and then she will go on to Iraq

for a year.

, B.J.'s fiancee', is still trying to deal with losing her soul mate.

Joining the Arkansas National Guard was a part of that process. She's a great

soldier...a sergeant in less than 2 years...very gung-ho about service to

country...wants to " make a difference " in the world in some way. She believes

that we are helping the people of Iraq (as I hope we are) and getting rid of a

tyrannical, corrupt government (I doubt we can do this). She is able to ignore

the greedy, self-serving interests being served by this war - such as lining the

pockets of our elitist politicos. She is just a 20-year old " SSRI-widow " as she

calls herself...trying to find a cause worth fighting for; a reason to continue

in this f'd up world.

She is leaving a lot of people back here who will miss her and worry about her

safety. But it was her choice and we respect that. It was so hard for me when

she gave me " Power-of-Attorney " over her affairs and her " Last Will and

Testament. " She is truly like a daughter to us.

Ironically enough, she graduated from Basic Training on the 1-year anniversary

of B.J's death. She graduated from Advanced Training on B.J's birthday last year

and now she is leaving on the same date they had set for their wedding, if they

had gotten married as planned in 2003.

She and 59 others will leave tomorrow. They are an aviation med-evac unit, so

they will be tranporting and taking care of our injured soldiers. Pray for her

and them. And us...

Terry

" ...There are certain things in our nation and in the world about which I am

proud to be maladjusted and about which I hope all men of good-will will be

maladjusted...Through such maladjustment, I believe that we will be able to

emerge from the bleak and desolate midnight of man's inhumanity to man into the

bright and glittering daybreak of freedom and justice. " - Dr. Luther

King, Jr. - December 18, 1963
